Full-service bakery that has been serving the community of Baton Rouge for a long time. This is a go-to for many sweet treat seekers. They are known for their fresh strawberry cake, consistently delicious king cakes and so much more! If you are looking for an early morning pick-me-up along with your decadent pastry, they serve coffee here, too. It’s lunchtime and you’re hungry, make sure to pop on by because they have a full menu to satisfy your stomach. The bakery has definitely changed some, since I first started coming there. Even the staff has become a lot more helpful and ready-to-serve. This morning, I was finally able to drop by for some of their fresh strawberry cake and also ended up buying a maple pecan danish. The cake was creamy and delightful, so I can see why people flock to it and the danish was oh so decadent, which made it very difficult for me to save any. The desserts are endless and there is even some seating inside, where you can buy your sweet treat and eat it right away, too. Whatever you may be looking for, they probably have it.

I needed a chocolate fix. I bought a brownie. Yum! I am hooked. I will go back again the next time I need a chocolate fix. The brownie was moist and had just the right amount of nuts and icing for each bite. It was rich so I have eaten half today and will save the other half for tomorrow.

I love this place. So many delicious items to choose from(cookies, doughnuts, macaroons, etc.) and let’s not forget their famous strawberry cakes. This place is also a dream come true if you’re a diabetic. The sugar free cupcakes and the sugar free lemon chiffon are fabulous!

Was disappointed with the cream cheese king cake. Very little cream cheese was in it. They did redeem themselves somewhat with their Zulu King cake. If you like chocolate and coconut, Zulu is a must try.

Consistently good king cakes in a variety of flavors, options of baby Jesus in the cake or out on the side, option of un-iced with separate packets of icing décor for families to decorate at home with kids. In the middle of Mardi Grad, king cakes were not offered for sale online, although other bakery items were. Not phenomenal but consistently good. Lovely bakery confections.

Holy. Moly. This place is ridiculously good. Great service, great food, great prices! We got a variety of things to taste. We got a donut, a cinnamon roll, a mini pecan pie, and a breakfast biscuit. Everything was incredible. The cinnamon roll was almost the size of my hand! We’ll definitely be coming back for a king cake. We’re even shipping one to my mother in law!

Mistakes happen. Even at the bakery that I consider to be historically the best in Baton Rouge. I can’t reasonably give them less than 4 stars though as their cakes are always perfect. I placed an order for 3 King cakes online but was not able to pick up on Sunday as I had scheduled. I called when they next opened(Tuesday morning) and was told that they still had my cakes and would put them aside. When I got there, however, only 1 of the 3 were mine. Luckily, it was my all time fave, the Zulu King Cake. And luckily they were polite and apologetic and scheduled to have my order ready when they opened the next morning as they were almost closed when I arrived. So down to the meat and cheese(or should I say frosting and sprinkles) of my review! The 3 King Cakes I got were divine. As always. Did you notice their name was Ambrosia, aka food of the gods?!! I’ve said this about bacon, Nutella, and no doubt about this Zulu King Cake… it is Last. Meal. Worthy. Truly, I want this fed to me on my deathbed. The other two were Strawberry Cream Cheese and Bavarian with the«Shipper Pack»(an undecorated King Cake sealed in plastic with a pouch of white frosting and purple, green, and gold sprinkles in separate pouches ready to be mailed). I chose the Shipper Pack because I wanted my girls to be able to decorate it, and sure enough they loved this idea! So…if you want a traditional King Cake that’s guaranteed to be moist and delicious(and perfect) every time you order it, I have no doubt Ambrosia is your bakery. There are so many bakeries in Baton Rouge to choose from, and although I love supporting other local and competitive businesses, my all time favorite and #1 recommendation still remains Ambrosia. You can walk in to pick one up off the shelf or order ahead like I did. Oh and I should probably mention that they also have a café for delicious lunch items, gelato for sale, lots of already prepared desserts and pastries ready for purchase, and make fantastic cakes for weddings, birthdays, etc. I focused my review on King Cakes, but this bakery is known for so much more. I would bet the majority of wedding cakes in the Baton Rouge area are bought here, and last thing to mention… my favorite cake of all time(that my mom buys for my two siblings and I’s birthdays every year) is the Ambrosia Strawberry Cake. Like a angel food cake on crack… AMAZING. So… are you sold yet?

YUMMY! Why did I wait so long to try it? The blueberry scones were moist and tasty. The service was friendly but a little scattered. On my initial order they forgot to give us our coffee and cinnamon roll. We had breakfast as well as ordering some sweet treats. It was a solid attempt. The omelette was quite good but I would have enjoyed more cheese. Everything was served on styrofoam which is a HUGE disappointment. Before I left I ordered even more including some of that famous strawberry cake. Fairly priced and highly recommended

These guys really know how to bake a great cake. T-Watt Amplifiers sent a large 2 layer Strawberry cake to my birthday party from Ambrosia Bakery. It was so good. It reminded me of the kind of cakes my mother and grandmother used to make only fancier. The icing was so creamy and loaded with fresh strawberries and the yellow cake inside was very moist. The flavors exploded in your mouth. I know where I am going for my special cakes. Give them a try.

Follow the smell of amazing desserts… It’ll lead you right to ambrosia! I’ve loved this place for many years, but they continue to amaze me each time. Their menu is so diverse ranging from light breakfast, light lunch options, and all the desserts you can imagine. Their strawberry cake is to die for, and when I found out they sold by the slice, that was one of the best days ever! I frequent this spot for the cake but I can’t ignore the other pastries, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and cookies! They also have custom orders from all sorts of sweets, I could go on for days about this place!

Ambrosia Bakery saved the day! We needed 150 vanilla cupcakes for a birthday party. Since our go-to bakery is closed on Sundays(the day of the event) we couldn’t place an order with them. We probably could have picked up the cupcakes on Saturday before they closed but we didn’t want to tempt Murphy’s Law. A family friend recommended Ambrosia so Mom placed the order and went to pick them up on Sunday. They had an endless variety of cakes(for holidays, graduations, religious occasions, birthdays and babies) and a separate suite just for wedding cakes. They also had a wall of greeting cards, candles and balloons – the one-stop shopping was a real convenience. The cupcakes were ready before I finished browsing the store. An employee wheeled them out to the car and helped us load them in. They were packed to perfection to keep them looking perfect on the trip to the party. The cupcakes themselves were plainly decorated and didn’t wow me in the flavor department either. They weren’t the best or the worst cupcakes I’d ever tasted… just ok. Then again, I’m not a fan of vanilla on vanilla so I would have probably been more impressed with chocolate or doberge cake. So three stars for the cupcakes with a fourth for convenience and customer service. The employees were great and the fact that Ambrosia Bakery was open on Sunday saved the party!

Almost a little too close for comfort due to the goodies they purvey. The signature strawberry cake is worth the stop in alone but you will want to stay a while and see what else they have for your next trip in. Also a lunch spot with sandwiches and such although we have not tried them yet for meal occasion. Certainly a return spot for us.

If I could give a lower review I would, and this is coming from someone who would suffer through Perkins Road for hours to be one of the first people to get a King Cake here! And just to time myself, not only did I frequent the Perkins Road location back in the day, I endured the move to Siegen Lane! In 2010 I moved to Washington, D.C. and with it, I began having to order my king cake from afar. I never had an issue until this year. I teach at a Title 1 public school in DC and as a yearly treat I always buy a king cake for my co-workers. I’ll be honest, I have ordered from other bakeries depending on just cost and shipping. Well this year I decided to splurge and went with my all time favorite Ambrosia. Because we in the Northeast do not get Mardi Gras, I made sure to order a week in advance and I also paid additional in shipping charges to ensure that the King Cake would arrive before our President’s Day holiday. The cake did not arrive by it’s deadline — and I contacted Ambrosia to make them aware that my order had not yet even shipped — despite the arrival date having past and that I wanted the order to be canceled. I received an email back saying that I would be refunded. I totally accepted that and would have went on — while disappointed — understanding in that maybe I should order one of the best king cakes in the world two weeks earlier instead of just 1! Why I give 1 star today — I never received refund and when I emailed on August 15 to inquire why — no response. I have not heard a reply back to date. That is unacceptable, and frankly poor business practice. I will be taking my business elsewhere and I will ensure all of the offices I know up here in DC that order king cakes — particularly for Washington Mardi Gras — also take their business elsewhere!

I love this place. The location is a little awkward(don’t even think about turning left out of the parking lot onto Siegen) but I’ve yet to have a bad thing here. I don’t have much experience w their cakes, but their deli is fantastic. The roadrunner sandwhich is worth a mention, as is their pulled pork sandwhiches. That they serve Community Coffee is just icing on the cake. Also: oh man, their French bread is great. If I could eat a loaf of that a day w/o becoming a grotesque homunculus of a man, I would.

Ambrosia provided 3 cakes for my father’s 70th birthday. I planned this party from nearly a thousand miles away, which meant I did all ordering over the Internet and phone. Ambrosia was willing to answer many questions and work with me from a distance. I picked up the cakes and 35 of us enjoyed them. Pineapple upside-down cake: this cake was the best pineapple upside-down cake I’ve ever had. It is a family favorite. The texture, flavor, and presentation were great. It was light. Not too sweet. And definitely great! Fresh Strawberry: this cake was so light and fluffy. It had a ton of fresh strawberry taste to it. It was beautifully decorated. This cake was a last minute buy because I heard it was one cake you cannot miss. Ambrosia had no problem providing me with one the day of. Crawfish design on almond/chocolate doberge cake: the design was so so so much better than the picture. The website photo really is pretty awful for this cake. When I picked it up I had prepared myself for telling me family that it looked pretty ridiculous. When the box was opened to check it in store, I was blown away. Crisp design, great script. The little fondant veggies were an awesome touch. The flavor was excellent. My only complaint is how sweet the white icing was. The filling and cake were delightful though. Overall — best commercial cakes I’ve ever had. Will totally order again and my family will likely order from them too.

I came here to help my friend with her wedding cake. The lady that helps you plan it made it sound like we should feel lucky that they had time to see us and make a cake for her wedding … She was rude & honestly I know now I wouldn’t go there for my wedding cake if that’s how it is over there. She wasn’t interested in my friend or her wedding at all. We asked to see a certain stand for a cake that caught my friends eye FOUR different times. She finally decided to get someone to go measure it to see if it would fit her cake because they only had that particular stand in one size. I will start looking for other places to get speciality cakes. Previous review: I always get my co workers birthday cakes from here. And for my birthday I always get a strawberry pie and I eat it all within 24 hours. Also for my 16th birthday they made me a vampire cake(taste like crap but looked awesome) Today I went to ambrosia and they had so many selections. Staff is always friendly and everything I have got here never disappoints. But they are pricey for a regular cake. Like chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet. Specialty stuff is what I come here for. It’s a good treat.

A for Ama-zing! Ambrosia Bakery is one of those places that my fellow Unilocalers have checked in again and again. and AGAIN. So once I promised my students some cupcakes, I made it my business to grab them from here. I ordered three Red Velvet cupcakes, two for them and one for me. A slice of cheesecake and a cake square. Once I received my package and was inside the car, my cheesecake slice was gone before I got back on the road. Sad, but true. I waited a day to eat the red velvet cupcakes with my students. They were wrapped in a nice case and were HUGE. Needless to say, we loved them. I am giving up sweets for Lent, but once it’s over, Ambrosia bakery will be one of my first priorities.

The strawberry cake is everything! It can be purchased by the slice for $ 4. It makes up for the slow service and having to dart in and out of the parking lot to dodge the cars on the raceway that is Siegen Lane. There are plenty other baked goods there and also a small shop as well.

A friend referred us here saying that if you want a bakery in Baton Rouge, Ambrosia is the to-go place. You walk in, and it has the whole bakery, cutesy vibe down-packed. There is a room designated to their cakes and decorations and catering. They have a pick up window for orders. And then they have this long counter with a glass encasing of all of their baked goods. The morning we went in, the other staff there were swamped with other orders to deal with. We didn’t order off the menu because the cashier told us it’d be 40 minutes until we saw our food. So we took our time choosing from the windowed sweets. I admit, the lady behind the counter didn’t seem over the top about helping us or answering any questions. We weren’t in any rush to decide on what to pick, but she was cold as ice even handing us our pickings. Spinach quiche, chocolate covered oreos, blondies, pralines. All of our choices left us as happy campers. There is a lot of variety here, I just think that service had potential for improvement.

I really wanted to give Ambrosia 5 stars because the sweets are so delectable but the customer service is absolutely atrocious and EXTREMELY slow. The two stars is me being generous at this point. This isn’t the first time. Slow and rude service must be built into the employee training or something because it’s consistently terrible. It does NOT take 35 minutes for a shrimp Poboy.(The fruit that came as a side with the Poboy was doused in syrup and tasted disgusting, and was obviously canned or old fruit. It tasted moldy, and the shrimp were obviously prefrozen and not thawed before frying.) Nor does it take 20 mins for a «Belgium waffle» which isn’t even a real Belgium waffle to start with. At this point I’m just pissed at the poor service and turtle– slow wait time for non baked food. I always want to support local business and give businesses a second and third chance but I have had it with Ambrosia… And what a shame because I have a huge sweet tooth and work in the wedding industry and will refer clients to another local bakery to get their cakes.

So my friends been telling me to try this place, but I’m never really in Baton Rouge. so when I visited, I had to go here to see what the hype is about. When walking in this spotless establishment, you get a vibe of a great bakery, the staff is very nice, helpful, and patience. There are many baked goods available and they all look so delicious! But, the thing I came for was the Fresh Strawberry Cake. It’s delicious. So light and refreshing, and not overly sweet. The sponge is so light that, it feels as if it melts in your mouth as if the whipped cream and chunks of strawberries were one. I really recommend this cake when you come here, I need to try the other baked goods, they all just look so delicious!
