Zea… it took BR Restaurant Week to bring me back to your side of town. We had this love-hate relationship. The last trip 2 years ago, was so ordinary… I was sure I fell out of love with you. This time… you have me believing again. Your flavors tickled my tastebuds, and had me giggling like my first love. ;-) My hot date and I order different items to see how each dish tasted. For the appetizer, we had the tuna sashimi appetizer and Thai style ribs. The ribs were so tender, the meat practically fell off the bones. The sashimi app ok, not really sashimi grade sushi. The crispy sesame cracker was perfect to pair with it though. The entrees: twice cooked duck and balsamic salmon. My friend and I both kicked ourselves in the butt for not just ordering 2 dishes of the duck. The skin was crispy with just enough fat underneath it. The meat was tender and NOT overlooked like so many other duck dishes I’ve had in the past. Even the crunchy noodles was fabulous. We did everything to stop ourselves from licking the plate clean! I’m a classy lady after all. *wink* hahaha… The balsamic salmon was also very good, and cooked very well. Props to the cook that night And last but not least, you need not to forget the dessert. We had a choice between their pecan bread pudding, or their classic cheesecake. This was no brainer: bread puddings for 2 please!!! Somehow we got extremely lucky, and they cut us each a HUGE portion of bread pudding, instead of the RW proportion. We couldn’t eat it bc we were so full, and had to take it home. The next day at my house, it took 3 people to demolish it. I wasn’t a big fan of it mainly because it had raisins in it. Best bread pudding to date? Sammy’s Grill(Highland location) white chocolate bread pudding. My opinion of course. You’ll just have to go and try it for yourself. :)

I moved away from Baton Rouge over a year ago and Zea’s is one of the restaurants I was excited to go to when I visited for Christmas. The service was so bad. I had to ask for my drink 3 times and didn’t get it until after our entrée’s came. The waitress was very nice, but didn’t seem to be good at multitasking. Maybe I’ll get some corn grits to go next time I’m in town, but I won’t be sitting down to eat.

The location was enjoyable. We were seated right away. Our server was very slow to get our order, about 15 – 20 minutes. We ordered the duck enpanadas because everyone raves about them. Well, no duck enpanadas today, all out at 1pm Sunday. Wow! No duck at all. If this is one of their specialty items, they should not run out of it. We ordered the beef sirloin and rotisserie chicken– house rub which both were to die for, scrumptious with butter squash because they did not have mashed potatoes either, they were delish; red beans and rice, tasty; fries were good; potatoes wedges were so tasty, too. We asked for hot tea but they do not have any. We only had water. Place is nice to go to and cozy but might think twice or call ahead to make sure they have the duck enpanadas on hand or any other food we might be craving. All in all, this is a place to go to and definitely come back. They got 4 stars for their lack of in stock food, slow service and no hot tea drink.

Wow! Absolutely love this place! Had the spinach salad with pepper jelly, Mediterranean hummus, and a Cornish game hen. Everything was perfect!!!

One of my favorite restaurants… enough said! Get the corn grits, bbq rotisserie chicken, Asian almond shrimp, backwoods lemondrop martini, and brownie sundae!

We received STELLAR service from Connor. He was very attentive without being over bearing. It was great. As it was our first time at Zeas he was very patient with us and also offered advice on best choices. We ended up getting the grilled salmon with the glaze on it. Our sides were the roasted corn grits and grilled asparagus. We told him we were splitting it and they literally shoot the salmon filet for us, sweet. I must say this, those roasted corn grits changed my life. I loved them so much I had to recreate the recipe for dinner this week. Not kidding. If you haven’t tried them, you should, you will thank me later. Everything was great. We will definitely be back, I’m interested in the daily specials off the grill.

You must try the duck empanadas, Thai ribs and sweet potato pecan bread pudding. My husband had the Chinese salad for an entrée. I had the shrimp and grits. Our friends had the red beans and rice and the chicken. Everything was good. We do an annual visit for the sweet potato pecan bread pudding. Enjoy

Suggested by friends. Dinner for 3. Service was okay, atmosphere noisy, décor average. Presents itself as upscale(prices certainly were). Food — unimpressed. Very odd mix of Mediterranean/Asian flavors. Had the pineapple Cornish game hen, underdone and stringy, glaze overpowered the hen badly. Side dishes a joke, roasted potatoes soft and mushy, just warm as if sitting g under heat lamp for hours.

My sister and I met here for lunch after church Sunday. I ordered the beef sirloin with sugar snap peas and red beans n rice. Everything was delicious! The downside is that I waited at least ten minutes before someone came to get my drink order. I had several waiters walk by me. finally Michael showed up and got our order. He was friendly, courteous and prompt. I never had to ask for a refill because he was paying attention when my drink got low. After we finished eating we decided to split a dessert. It was supposed to be some type of chocolate tort. that thing was itty bitty! For $ 9 we probably should’ve returned it lol.

Service was slow… turtle slow! Actually, I think that if they put my food on the back of turtle, it would have walked out to me faster than I received my food today. That aside, onto the food. I ordered the crab cake appetizer, shrimp and grits, red beans and rice, and broccoli. The crab cakes themselves were bland, but the sauces that they were served with and on added some pop and heat, so overall they were… ok. The shrimp and grits were disappointing. There were three VERYSMALL shrimp in the whole dish and a huge heaping of sausage… this is shrimp and grits, not sausage and grits… more and better shrimp would help this dish. The flavors were really blown out! It was a bit too salty and too peppery. Such a shame, bland crab cakes and over seasoned shrimpLESS and grits… I won’t be returning, there are far better places in Baton Rouge for the things I had.

This place took SOOO long! My daughter & friend came here for a graduation dinner last night. The waiter was new so I can’t really fault him, but at the same time I thought new servers had to shadow old ones to learn. I fault the managers for giving him a huge table like this and he was new! He didn’t even know the menu. I ordered a spa martini it was so good and refreshing had a few pieces of cucumber in it! So good… I ordered a small order of the duck empanadas they were so tasteful with a tangy dipping sauce. They were great! Also I had the trout Lafitte it was so great, this comes with two sides but the server didn’t know and I had to order them way after getting my plate. The food was great service was horrible. He also had my check wrong and had double charged me for the sides and forgot to split the check we had to get it fixed twice. Also someone further down the table had ordered a rotisserie chicken and had to send it back it was pretty much raw! We had to get the manager many times!!! The food is great but I won’t be going back this is about my third time coming here and I just did not care for the service this time. Also everything took about 30 minutes to an hour just to get there I understand the food because of the large party but it was taking extra long even for the tickets! Took super long just to be seated and half of the party was there already… Bad experience! Food was great though!!!

This is my first Zea experience. Husband absolutely loves this place. We ordered dinner to go so I can’t comment on the actual restaurant. I ordered the chicken, sweet mashed potatoes and the Thai snap peas. He ordered the dry ribs, corn grits, and potatoes wedges. Overall the meal was good but I wasn’t in love with my chicken. The Thai ribs looked so good– I will totally get them next time! The parking lot is not big truck friendly. They only had a couple of curbside parking spots– he drives an F250 and it was tight!

Awesome food and exceptional service. Ask for Zoey or Michael! Do yourself a favor and get the pesto crusted tilapia.

Ahh! The smell when you walk in this place! It’s like when you walk past the Costso rotisserie chicken section and you just CAN’T NOTGRAB A CHICKEN. It smelled delicious. As this place is known for their rotisserie chicken, I should’ve just gotten the chicken. Instead, I tried to be different and get the crispy roast duck, only because I had really been craving some Chinatown window-front hanging Peking Duck. The duck was very well presented on a bed of crispy noodles and pretty good, although slightly too salty. The corn grits was a tasty side choice as well as the veggies, but overall way too much food for a lunch portion. I had a bit of buyer’s remorse, so on my next trip, I WILL try the chicken.

Extremely disappointed with my meal here today(5÷24÷2015)! I ordered the rotisserie sirloin steak with the corn grits and mashed yams for the sides. The food came out cold as though it was sitting in the fridge. The sirloin was extremely tough as well. I would’ve been better off chewing on a shoe sole or piece of rawhide. The poor waiter did a very good job with the service but the sirloin was flat out not good. The corn grits and yams were tolerable but nowhere near what I’ve had before at Zea’s. Everyone in my party had something that was wrong with their food as well. Come on Zea’s, you’re better than that. I’ve never had this issue with the one in Lafayette, LA.

Greeter did not look happy to see people coming into the restaurant for dinner, then waitress did not seem very happy to want to be there or explain the Wednesday night special. Food came quickly. Thinly sliced prime rib with fennel and a balsamic reduction… Tasty. Sides mashed sweet potatoes and corn roasted grits… Delicious. Daughter got the red beans and rice and could not stop talking about it. Dessert was great too. Cheese cake with warm roasted pecans and praline sauce… Nothing left. I have not been here in a while, glad the food is still great. I just wish the workers were a little more eager and happy to see you.

I never think to come to this place. I guess it’s because I always am in Towne Center during the day time and it’s so dark in this restaurant. It’s nice, but at lunch I like a little more of a cheery spot. It’s a New Orleans based restaurant. Everything on the menu sounds delicious. As I don’t eat a lot of BBQ, I’ve heard from others how great it was. My grandmother said the Thai ribs appetizer she got was just perfectly cooked and delicious. My tuna app was great as well. I got the larger size as my meal and could barely finish it. The service was good. They were packed on a Monday. That must show how much people enjoy the restaurant. I’ll have to start going there more often. A plus for me was that they had marked items on the menu that were no gluten added and also which items had less than 400 calories and below a certain amount of saturated fat.

Came here for lunch with three other coworkers. Place was pretty busy but not packed — we didn’t have to wait to be seated. First impressions were the décor was nice. Loved the look of the place. Kind of on the cold side temperature wise but bearable. Also quickly noticed that the food was rather pricey. I ordered the chicken panini sandwiches($ 14) and added fries to my order since their sandwiches don’t come with a side(um really?). Not sure about their hamburger, that may come with fries. My side of fries was $ 3.50 extra for what would be considered a small fry. The waitress was nice enough, service wasn’t bad, although none of us got our drinks refilled the whole time we were there. My food wasn’t bad, but not particularly memorable. Perhaps I should have ordered their specially which is the half rotisserie chicken. One of my coworkers got that and cleaned his plate. The rest of us ate, but left food behind. One of my coworkers noticed up charges for a salad and a side of asparagus and he mentioned it to the waitress. She said something like those are premium items and are extra. To which he replied he did not see that stated on the menu. All she offered was«well that’s what it charges when we put it in» and nothing further. With tip and drink, he ended up paying $ 30 for lunch. Don’t get me wrong — great food and a great dining experience is worth a little extra money. This place is not worth what they’re selling it for.

What happened? Each time I come back to town and make a visit to Zea, the quality and portion size going down. This time, it was close to abysmal. When I ordered their fried catfish platter, there were only 5 – 7 very small scraps of catfish for 12 dollars, hmm. In addition, service wasn’t anything spectacular – our server never refilled our glasses of water. I probably will be going to Sammy’s Grill on Highland from now on for my cajun/creole fix.

What’s not to love! I had a «Girls Night» here and made a reservation for 12. They were very accommodating giving us a table in a separated area. Very fast service. No one had an empty glass for more than a minute. Also they were willing to separate the checks. That was 12 different checks. Very kind of them. As good as the service was, which is very impressive, the food was better! The Mediterranean Hummus App is a must! Everyone loved their entrees. Red Beans, Tomato Soup, Shrimp over Quinoa and Beef Panini. All perfect. Can’t wait to go again.
