Coyle’s has the right to post a Trump 2016 sign. I have the right to never go there again. I like my ice cream without politics.

Crowded and a town favorite. The ice cream is good and rich, with dozens of flavors to choose from. The soft serve is odd, almost tasting like the icing of an ice cream cake. Stick with hard ice cream– Mississippi Mud and Elvis PB are two of my favorites.

Came in tonight to our favorite ice cream place and Chris was training and took very good care of us! Thank you Chris for taking your time taking our order. We go here all the time and love homemade ice cream. The only bad part about tonight was that Chris’s trainer was really rude. She was degrading him and belittling him in front of Customers. Not cool. It really ruined our experience tonight. We left feeling so bad even after she told him to go stand in the corner.

Yum, check this place out for all the wonderful flavors of ice cream. They’ve been in the neighborhood for years and the owner is a genuine guy. Only reason they didn’t earn 5 starts in my opinion is because the prices are so freaking expensive. Otherwise this place is perfect.

To be fair, ice cream to me is an occasional treat but not a way of life. I have been in here several times to satisfy cravings. I usually do take out but the atmosphere is very cute and kitschy: it feels like it is trying to be an old time soda parlor. I have tried their ice cream sandwiches, cakes, and sundaes. Service has been pleasant, prompt and helpful. The selection is awesome. I think most people with the average dietary and allergy restrictions would be fine here. It’s a nice, solid, tasty place to get a good frosty treat.

Great ice cream and somewhat good customer service. I like this one girl who works there and most of the time leave her a tip because she’s great! Didn’t get her this one time and I got a male who was probably a relative of the owners. There was a man and a woman who I am guessing are the owners and I asked the male if there was enough caramel on the ice cream because my mom is one hard woman to please. I looked down and the woman said, «he knows what he’s doing, he’s been doing this for a long time.» I told her that my mom was a hard woman to please and I’m thinking to myself how rude is this woman. If anything, a customer has the right to look, I mean I’m the one purchasing and making you a profit so in this case, customer is always right. She really ticked me off and I was really going to leave without the ice cream but my mom likes the ice cream so I really couldn’t. If it was for the nice females that work there I probably wouldn’t go back but my mom is in that menopausal stage so anything to make her happy and rational. But the owners are disgusting and rude. They should just stay in the back of the shop and let the girls do there job. They are fantastic and the owners just ruin the vibe.

Not worth going, the ice cream taste old and generic. Did not taste homemade. The people who worked there were rude and apathetic. Would not go back.

Totally disappointed after reading all of the reviews on here. I asked to try the pistachio cherry because I LOVE pistachio. Meh, it tasted really bland and kind of old(maybe) — can’t really describe the flavor. My boyfriend asked to try the apple pie which he had a similar reaction to so we both ordered different flavors. I ordered the cannoli and baileys Irish cream and he ordered dulce de Leche. I tried his as I was waiting for mine and same thing, just kind of bland. I then got mine. The cannoli flavor was OK, but wasn’t totally enjoyable and the bailey’s was just kind of bland as well. Not horrible, but definitely not memorable. I’ve eaten way better ice cream at Baskin Robbins.

Visit Date: August 9, 2015 My MIL and I wanted ice cream after we got the ferry back to Fire Island. She had heard about Coyle’s so I looked it up and away we went. The inside is slightly grimy which is why I gave it 4 stars. It’s not dirty, it’s definitely clean enough to eat in but it has an ever so slight hint of old fashioned and grime. The ice cream is pretty damn amazing. I had the sticky finger Sundae and I loved it! I am coming back here again with my friend and her nephew and I’m getting this Sundae again. I am not sure if they have an glassware to serve Sundaes in, mine was served in a plastic container with a plastic spoon. It doesn’t seem like they have waiter service so they may have done away with glassware. They definitely have slamming, amazing ice cream and it’s worth the visit!

Perhaps to the fine people of Long Island the prices appear ‘too high’ but to mine eyes they are just right for the great ice cream and friendly service at this fine ice cream parlor. After a day of hiking and swimming on Fire Island, I enjoyed too many scoops of ice cream. They have wet walnuts, the usual toppings and candy toppings.

So I visited Coyle’s for the first time yesterday after my best friend(lives in the area) raved about it. I’m a sucker for ice cream, especially the home made ice cream shops and was VERY excited to try this place out. I must say that it was good, but I’ve definitely experienced better and wasn’t so impressed by this cute little shop. I understand the difference between nostalgia or character to a place and then just sort of hoarding to the point where there is too much going on everywhere you look. This place is borderline hoarding… lots of knick knacks stuffed into the back shelves — they should clean that up a little. However, I did love the checkerboard floor and stools/booths which made it feel like a 50s shop. So points for ambiance. I tried the vanilla chip and the rocky road(my two favorites — often my «safe» choices to judge a new ice cream place). The vanilla chip was creamy, but also had some kind of crunchy sugar in it. almost like maple syrup that dried and crystalized. I wasn’t a fan of this extra sugar sprinkled throughout the ice cream, but I did like the large dark chocolate chunks. As for the rocky road — I was hard pressed to find almonds, marshmallow or fudge — so I thought she gave me the wrong flavor. Towards the end of that scoop I found something like a brownie mass or a cookie crunch mass in the middle of the scoop — was that my rocky road? Both flavors were VERY sweet and equally as impressive. There’s a lot going on at Coyle’s as far as choices and«specials» but really, it didn’t stand up to what you would expect out of an old fashioned ice cream shoppe. Not worth the calories unless I really had the wrong flavors(I see there are a lot of fans). Not so recommended — maybe a one time try. Sorry Coyles, I really wanted to like you.

Amazing flavors and atmosphere. There aren’t too many places like this around anymore and I am SO glad this one isn’t far from me. It may not be the cheapest but it is worth the trip here and there!

I wanna give four and half stars but the system doesn’t allow me to, so I gave five stars instead. We had soft banana boat and the black cherry tastes good. Friendly service very attractive customers. I probably will come back whenever I had a chance.

HOMEMADE Cool treats!!! YEA-UH, LOVEIT! So much, I’ll search for it like Harry Potter seeking the Snitch. Driven! Or is it hunger pangs?!? Coyle’s brings the PREMIUM homemade goodness STRONG here on Long Island, NY! When my fams in Long Island found out my lil thing for ice cream, they thought Coyle’s & I would be like 2 birds of a feather. The rest, they say, is history :) This ice cream parlor in Bayshore is original site for his magic. Best path is to take Sunrise Hwy Exit 43, 5th Avenue, then head towards Bayshore. I prefer the classic diner feel here rather than the more modern site in Islip, but that’s just me, I’m a lil old school. All creations are made at THIS location then shipped out. What’s IMPRESSIVE is the variety of flavors that are available(OVER50 flavors listed!), and the quality of the ice cream, especially with this being a mom & pop shop. My FAVE? PEANUTBUTTEROREO!!! Not one spot, in all my travels, has yet duplicated this awesomeness! My partner in crime, my Ninong Johnny, has got a soft spot for PISTACHIOCHERRY and CHERRYVANILLA. We would walk out with pre-packed quarts all the time, giddy like pirates finding treasure! Wifey digs the MOCHACHIP and COFFEEMISSISSIPPIMUD. Me Mum has sugar issues so it’s wonderful that they have«NOSUGARADDED» options, including coffee AND butter pecan, usually. This last visit she left empty handed, sad to say. There’s also pre-made ICECREAMSANDWICHES packs, but I’ve yet indulged in those, as well as this Brooklyn Egg Cream. Maybe next time… Oh, you bet there’s gonna be a next time :)

Was introduced to Coyle’s as a lad and will forever come back everytime I’m in the area. You can’t beat the flavors(i.e. Apple Pie, Strawberry Cheesecake, Birthday Cake), or the service with a smile. If you appreciate DELICIOUS ice cream, this is your spot!

This is the best ice cream you’ll ever eat. All homemade by Mr Coyle, each flavor is fresh, creamy, and delicious. More than 20 flavors, none will disappoint. Try a shake using any of the flavors for a delicious option. The sundaes are amazing and you can also get an ice cream cake that makes carvel cakes taste horrible. The retro atmosphere makes it fun.

Give me a break! $ 4.75 for a small cone. Cherry pistachio and walnut pistachio but no pistachio pistachio. Not right. That said, my vanilla chip was delicious.(And way too big for a small.)
