This place is busy and crowded, and with it being counter service, when I wanted to order another biscuit, to bring home, I had to wait in line twice for about 5 – 10 min each time. That said, the Rosemary honey biscuit was amazing and the coffee is great. I also love the curry seasoning on the potatoes.

Difficult to rate my experience with the star system, because the food was amazing but the restaurant was extremely loud to the point that we wanted to eat and leave as quickly as possible. The acoustics in the building are terrible to begin with and the staff just made it worse. The barista at the bar was loud, the bus boy was throwing dishes in the bin so hard that I thought they would break. There is limited outdoor dining, which probably would have made for a five star review, because we thoroughly loved our breakfast. The biscuit that came with my meal was by far, the best I have ever tasted.

If you are in Bay St Louis there are not many choices for a coffee experience in this small town. The Mockingbird is a great choose anywhere for coffee and to get a great healthy breakfast. The Mockingbird is located in an old house structure and provides a relaxing environment. I always start my mornings when I visit Bay St Louis at the Mockingbird.

Eclectic, homey, and charming. Three words that only begin to describe this outwardly unassuming café. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but step through the doors and there is something inviting about this place. Perhaps it’s the local artists displaying their talent, or the rustic and worn yet warm farm style aesthetic-but whatever it is you know the coffee, food, and atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from a place voted best coffee in Mississippi. Even if you’re just passing through Bay St. Louis, Mockingbird Café is a much needed respite.

Apple Brie biscuits. Best thing I’ve had in a long long time. And lovely staff and a very cool, laid back atmosphere.

This is my fave breakfast spot in Bay St. Louis. I come here everytime I visit the area, which is about 4 times per year. The breakfast is consistently good. I have never had to wait in line. As mentioned by other Unilocalers, the atmosphere is fantastic, with art for sale on the walls. It is always quiet enough to have a conversation with friends. Never had an issue coming here. Wi-fi is fantastic — today I measured 25 megabits download speed!(Better than home!) This could be a 5 star place, I just haven’t had tried many different things on the menu. Highly recommended.

Our first trip to the Mockingbird was well worth it. We went for breakfast and were very happy with the menu selection, the prices, and the atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!!!

I gave them a 2 star because I never actually got to taste the food as they were out of sausage, pancakes, and biscuits. Essentially, you could have eggs, toast, and fruit. Very disappointing. This was our first and last visit to their café.

The bean burger is a messy delight. Just turn it upside down so the intact top bun is the«containment structure». We each had a local beer: pineapple wheat for me and an IPA for my husband. Sadly, Lazy Magnolia’s Southern Pecan had just kicked. I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side for our spinach salad. It was a little too wet for my taste. We shared a cappuccino and a huge peanut butter cookie. It was a good thing we rode our bikes there. Lots of calories to work off!

Still only three stars. We stopped for breakfast/brunch. Everything tastes good but like other reviewers we were disappointed in the portion to price. The frittata was small(-) but very cheesy(+) but not a lot of veggies. It comes by itself, not even toast. And it was obviously microwaved. I want to love this place. I will come again to try the veggie burger. If the $ 27 breakfast for two was better we would drive the hour ride once a month or so.

Pecan Lazy Magnolia on draught and some of the best bisquits and gravy I’ve ever had. Perfect morning here in Bay St Louis! The atmosphere is bohemian and the service comes with a smile :)

Ok, I was there on a Monday-Memorial Day weekend. The kitchen was closing so I got my order in really quick, therefor, I didn’t get a chance to see the menu… but the food we ordered was great! I had the fritatta and my gf had the spinach salad. We had our pooch with us; the staff came out and fed her some whipcream… weirdest thing to feed a dog, but the intention was sweet and we felt appreciated as customers. 4 stars because I didn’t really feel like I got to experience the place, but our visit was pleasant; we’ll be back. #lovebayofsaintlouis

Good breakfast. Eggs were cooked just as ordered and the biscuit was large and delicious especially with the wild berry jam. I should have had the grits instead of the hash browns(which are more like home fries). Home like atmosphere as there were kids playing computer games and a couple running their business on the free internet.(Everyone was polite and ordered breakfast.) I would come here again.

Ok, so I was all set to give this café a lower rating. It took more than 30 minutes to get our food. So I was all set to blast em’. But that all changed when we got our food. It was beyond delicious. I hot the goddess omelet. It has eggs, red onion, black olives, tomatoes, feta, amd spinach and a side of grits. It was TERRIFIC! The place has divided rooms and plenty of people on laptops. The coffee is very good and free refills with breakfast. They have quite a few types of homemade muffins and jams. The atmosphere is laid back and the people are friendly. We will be back.

After learning all about Space! at the NASA Infinity Center, we realized we were starving. So we ended up here. Super cute café in a converted house. The menu was small but had something for each of us. Pus they serve beer so that was a hit with some. I just wanted food and a giant class of iced tea. The food was all tasty. The staff was really nice. There is attractive art for sale, including a whole superhero gallery while we were there.

My fellow Unilocaler and great friend Libby V. recently sent me a compliment saying it sounded like I was enjoying Bay St. Louis but how it wasn’t Nola. And you know what? I do love Bay St. Louis. It’s not Nola, but it’s pretty damn close. The Mockingbird Café is a perfect example. It has an artsy and quirky vibe like many cafés in New Orleans. They have some pretty great food like every café in New Orleans does. The people here are just as friendly as Nola natives. The same slow and easy, laid back type of feeling is ever present here and in all of Bay St. Louis. And although they didn’t have Tabasco on the table here for my delicious Jose Loves You omelette, when I asked for hot sauce they gave me Melinda’s Extra Hot Habanero sauce(holy shite was it spicy!!!) which is now my new favorite hot sauce. This place is legit as it gets, y’all. I love it and I know you will too.

Mockingbird Café is a coffee shop with one hell of a burger. I discovered Mockingbird via Unilocal buddy Steve I.‘s review of the city of Bay St. Louis. According to him, this place had a great burger so I bookmarked it a while back. A couple of weeks ago I was at the beach with one of my kids and we decided to stop here on our way out of town. Located in the older section of town, Mockingbird has great character. The building appears to be an old house converted into a coffee shop which lends itself to a very casual and relaxed feel. I was a little taken aback when I first walked in, since at first glance, it appeared to be strictly a coffee shop. As I walked up to the counter I discovered a menu and placed my order for a couple of burgers and an iced coffee. There were several different seating options including tables, bar stools and couches, but we picked a table in the front room. The front room is well lit, quiet and the walls are adorned with local art that is for sale. While we sat waiting for our food, I drank my coffee and found it to be almost perfect as is. I’m a big believer in drinking iced coffee sans sweetener or milk, but sometimes that isn’t possible. Their blend was the perfect blend of slightly bitter, but surprisingly smooth that makes a good cup of iced coffee. When the burgers came out, I was once again pleasantly surprised. I was expecting some food service grade bun and burger, but that is not at all what I received. The burger appeared to be a hand formed, homemade patty with high quality veggies, cheese and a fancy bun. That combination worked quite well together and the burger was incredibly good. It was so good in fact, that my small child ate her entire adult sized burger. Considering that she rarely finishes a kid’s portion at most restaurants, I figured I would be bringing ¾ of the burger home. Nope, she ate the entire thing with no problem. The thing that prevents Mockingbird from receiving five stars in my mind is the lack of French fries. I realize they probably do not have a fryer, but some hand cut fries would’ve elevated that burger meal significantly. The chips that came with it were good, but to me, fries go with a burger. That was a very minor complaint and I am sure I will keep coming back for more. The final thing I would like to mention is the parking area. The fence on the side of the lot is painted in chalkboard paint and there are several pieces of chalk along the fence. From the looks of the inscriptions along the fence, this looks like it would be a great place to have your kid practice writing their name, broadcast your undying love, or write some clever saying for all the world to see. Maybe not all the world, but at least all of Bay St. Louis. If you’re in the area, check out Mockingbird Café.
