Purple Banana

What a sweet shop this is. We walked with the kids here after dinner and enjoyed a nice dessert. Be careful with little ones as frozen yogurt is self-​serve with unlimited toppings! Price is by weight. Average for us was $ 3-​$ 4. On the bright side… Awesome frozen yogurt! We had the Java Frappé… Smooth coffee flavor… Yum!

Love the hamburgers and chicken sandwich… Also don’t miss the chili cheese fries, to die for. Eat lunch these at least 1x a week since I work in the area. GREAT food and service.

Great place to grab a burger or frozen yogurt. I had the lamb gyro and it was really good. It’s one of the few places that everyone in the family likes. The servers are also really nice.

This was our first time here and everything was great! The staff was very nice and the yogurt was quite yummy.

Loved the frozen yogurt bar and selection of toppings. Staff is very friendly. If you guess the exact weight of your self serve yogurt and toppings you get it free!

I thought it was alright. The burger that I had tasted like a traditional frozen patty. The condiments were right. I thought it was a little overpriced for the meal that I received. I had a hamburger and fries. I didn’t get to try any of the yogurt or ice cream that was offered. The place is in a great location. You can leave it and walk right into the gulf coast. The decorations are very nice inside and the customer service was decent. It was also nice watching the train go by as me and my family ate.

I love the new location… Great new menu with burgers, chicken sandwiches and corn dogs!!! Yay! Ordered some burgers to go for my kids last week. Burgers were ok. Quality of the meet was not good (we found small pieces of bone, and gristle) but other than that, the burgers and fries were good. Reasonably priced and service was good. Will probably try again at some point, but won’t get the burgers…

Cool little place, not too far from the beach. Would but nice if they had more choices of frozen yogurt. The kids enjoyed their creation.

I should start by saying the staff here is fantastic. Everyone has been nothing but kind, and they always have a smile on their faces. The shop itself is cute on the inside, with multiple selections for seating both inside and out. Everything is relatively clean, and it has a peaceful atmosphere.
The yogurt itself is a tad limited. They have about 8 flavors, but some of them are very similar. The toppings bar is also extremely limited compared to most other frozen yogurt shops in the area. On the bright side, if you guess the weight of your yogurt, it’s free!
The Purple Banana also does burgers and other such things, but I have yet to try those. The last time I was there, the woman sitting behind me sent her burger back because it was under-​cooked. However, the staff was very generous and replaced it no problem. Not my experience, just my observation.
Bottom line, if you REALLY need frozen yogurt in Bay Saint Louis, the Purple Banana is a decent option. I do plan to return eventually.

The place is precious with a large indoor eating area and two levels of outdoor seating. Downstairs porch has big picnic tables to accommodate big parties. Upstairs has barstools and a bar that wraps around the entire top level to accommodate customers up top. The views are great!
Order at the inside counter and your food will be delivered shortly. Menu choices are limited, but yummy! Corndogs, hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and fries covered with cheese, chili, both or none.
I had a cheeseburger ordered how I like it. And chili cheese fries. My girls had a hotdog and a corndog. The order came out really fast and was perfect. I tasted everything. Everything was great. The burger was the perfect size. I finished it and my fries and felt great, not like an overstuffed pig.
Fro yo was available but we didn’t get any this time. Interesting flavors available though.
Recommend for a great beach meal!

I wasn’t sure how to rate this. As a frozen yoghurt shop? A sandwich joint? An ice cream parlor? Let’s say I’d prefer an ice cream parlor to a frozen yoghurt shop any day of the week, and there are far better sandwich places, but this is the best frozen yoghurt I’ve personally tried, so hey, five stars, why not?
I’ve tried the froyo at a few other places popular these days, and one thing that really gets me (I’m looking at you, Red Mango) is that nasty bitter aftertaste in every single one of their flavors. I don’t know what it is (maybe they use Stevia?), but if you’re one of those unlucky enough to have that particular gene that lets you taste that bitterness, you won’t taste it here. Just good, flavorful frozen yoghurt with lots of yummy things to mix in.
The sandwiches are actually pretty good, they’re just nothing special. No cooking or heating, just cold cuts on sliced bread, but it’s good cold cuts on good sliced bread, so it makes a great place to stop for a light meal if you don’t have any cold cuts at home. And you can polish it off with just as much or as little froyo as you like, since you can pay by the ounce. Nice.

You’ve got to love the new frozen yogurt shops where you have an array of frozen yogurt flavors and tons of toppings to choose from — and the Purple Banana does it deliciously! Right off of South Beach Boulevard and also with an entrance from Main Street — there’s no reason not to go buy and get a sweet snack while browsing the shops on Main Street. When I was there, they had flavors including but not limited to: birthday cake, vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, cheesecake, strawberry and others i can’t remember. And the array of toppings was extensive: all kinds of nuts, fruit toppings, several cookie and candy toppings and more! Very clean, great selection and friendly service!
