An excellent B&B experience! We stayed for one night in the September. The owners were very nice. The had a room with a private patio. There was a hot tub in the bathroom. The sheets and bed were incredibly comfortable. Breakfast consisted of quiche, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, etc. The inn was set back in the woods providing a bit of privacy. It was very romantic and quaint. I would definitely return!

We stayed at an amazing bed and breakfast in Bayfield: the Pinehurst Inn. The owner Steve was a great storyteller and over delicious breakfasts cooked with seasonal ingredients delighted me with all kinds of Lake Superior information. The room was fantastic, with a large tub, 3-sided fireplace and filled with good energy and aromas from the spa two floors below. I started reading, «The Devil in the White City» and«Lake Superior Magazine» by the fire. Because of the thinness of ice on Lake Superior in January, hiking to the ice caves along the lakeshore was impossible. Instead I picked up «A Voice Within» by photographer Craig Blacklock, and took the trip in my imagination.

Off of Lake Superior, just a couple miles out of downtown Bayfield, WI, lies a beautiful stately property surrounded by tall woods, a thick grassy clearing, gorgeous floral gardens, and the trickling of a nearby brook. My husband and I stayed in the Birches Room, located off the main house in the newly-built green building. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, a haven of relaxation for a newlywed couple. We had a private bath, whirlpool tub for two(with lavender salts and solar-heated water), a cozy private deck, and a luxurious king-sized bed – the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on(even better Posturepedic! ;-). I should also mention that the Enso Spa is located on-site. We booked the Pampering Package, which included two 60-min massages, a bottle of wine and a cheese plate – fabulous! Breakfast was relaxed and wonderful – we ate with four other guests in the main dining room; everyone we met was friendly and considerate. We started each breakfast with fresh local fruit, muffins, juices, and fair-trade coffee and teas. The first morning our entrée was a delicious fresh raspberry french toast, a vegetable frittata on day two. Everything was delightfully home-made, local, and scrumptious. One of the aspects I appreciate most about Pinehurst is the feeling of being part of the local community, rather than a transient visitor. Steve and Nancy are wonderful, hospitable and respectful innkeepers. It may not be in the heart of the city or as glamorous as other well-known B&B’s, however, I honestly believe that our stay was hands-down the best in Bayfield. You won’t find a more peaceful retreat than the Pinehurst Inn.
