As many people stated, children are the servers, and the service is not good. Walked in, two children were sitting at one table playing games on their computers while a third was apparently acting as waiter. No one gave us menus even though we were greeted and seated by the cook/owner was soon as we got there. I got them myself after 5 minutes. Ten minutes later the waiterchild decided to take our order. We ordered food(really dont remember what) and tap water. At some point the people next to us got their appetizers, and were brought out the complete wrong dish from what they ordered. That would not have been relevant, but one of our dishes came out as something completely different from what was ordered. This was after waiting about 25 minutes for the food at all, and then we had to wait for it to be remade as what was actually ordered. It seems that the children wait service are not hearing what the people are ordering correctly. Oddly, all of the lights were out in the store except for a small one in the cooler, and possibly in the kitchen area. When the bill came we were charged for«spring water,» to which I just paid because it probably would have taken more time than it was worth to argue about it.

This small establishment is a jewel in the heart of Bayonne. Enjoying a veggieburger dressed with pile high veggies. For the vegan, the juicer, the conscious organic and the healthy elite make sure you add this eatery as one of your stops. Fresh organic soups, vegan and gluten free eats. eat healthy, live healthy is their motto.

Not sure about the different varieties offered. I personally need a gluten-free food. So, this place kind of clicked the thought of coming here and try different varieties. However, eggplant parmesan sandwich was good and carrot cake was excellent. I wish to try the soups and juices soon.

Stopped here for lunch with two friends after an outing in the area. We were so pleased with our lunches — half sandwich and soup(American with Manhattan clam chowder and Irish with split pea) and a black bean Thanksgiving wrap. So good! It was after the lunch hour so we sat, relaxed and talked. I would definitely go back again. Eating gluten-free doesn’t matter to us, but the food was just plain delicious — comfort food hot soup and a tasty sandwich on a cool Fall day. Nice!

Food is always fresh made & delicious, many interesting choices & good portion. I like their soup, had lerk & spinach last time, it was very nice. This time my friend had an asian omelet, I’m not sure what makes it «asian», but it sure tasted wonderful, and a cup of coffee comes with it. I had a sandwich with sole fillet & various vegetable(English Sandwich?), the multi grain bread was perfectly toasted, fish is well seasoned & super fresh with tons of salad. I felt full & healthy afterwards. Love this little place in Bayonne. Highly recommended!

I lived near this place for over a year and finally decided to try it. I have extreme regrets for not trying it earlier! Everything I tried so far has been perfectly prepared with all fresh and organic ingredients. This includes the Jamaican sandwich with a nicely spiced chicken, Indian wrap with savory curry chicken and crisp fresh veggies in a wrap that I have never even tasted before but became my favorite, and my new favorite sandwich ever: the Sicilian! It has the most deliciously balanced flavors I have ever had in a sandwich. The fact that the ingredients and the hot fresh organic Multigrain bread was made there made it so amazing not to mention the very fresh thick mozzarella which brought it all together. And everything I had was always cooked to perfection. The other day, while I waited, I saw the poster Andrew had up for the mushroom coffee/tea so I ordered it today. Not only does it taste like a very delicious coffee but, like another reviewer stated, it instantly made me feel healthier(well like 10 min later actually). It gave me extra energy without any caffeine and without adding jitteriness or stress. In fact, this is going to sound odd but somehow gave me energy and destressed me. I almost felt as if tho I was very calm while feeling ready to workout again right after my morning workout. I did some research on the reishi mushroom which is the main ingredient and was blown away by the health benefits. Feeling awesome and much healthier. Thanks you immensely Andrew!!! P. S. Some people are complaining about the wait. I never had to although I did always call-in my orders before I went. But even if I had to wait, I prefer that instead of risking change in quality and deliciousness. Take as long as you like lol!

Everything I have gotten from Andrews was absolutely delicious and so fresh! I always feel great and satisfied after leaving and I never feel overly stuffed despite the healthy portions of each dish. If you find this place a little pricey, you are paying for both quality, quantity, and taste! MUSTTRYTHESUPERMUSHROOMCOFFEE it’s possibly the best coffee I have ever had. I would give 5 stars but the place is lacking ambiance. Some music to kill the time waiting for each meal made from scratch can take a little long would make the difference!

I just tried Andrews for the first time last week. I had the grilled eggplant and tofu black bean wrap with a zesty tomato sauce. It was one of the most delicious thing I have ever eaten! I also purchased some vegan brownies! This place is a true gem, very cozy and great food! I’ll def be back.

Fresh gluten free meals. Delish and family style. Bring any one who has food allergies or sensitivities. I had the lentil soup and the Indian half wrap. It has curry chicken that is floured perfectly.

The food there is wonderful, I had a wrap and the dressing had a spicy tang to it. Very flavorful. However, what turns me off to the place is the poor service. Why do you have a child in the front of your shop? A rude one at that. I’m all for gluten free food but I hate bad service. Step it up!

An updated review: Years ago, was so happy to find this this place, and I gave it 5 stars. Slowly, I went from being a regular to going only when I had no other healthy choices. The owner is very nice, and his dishes are delicious. The menu is indicative of an excellent chef who is extremely talented at making flavorful, healthy dishes. The problem? There are usually only one(the owner) or two people on staff, and the food and service suffers for it. For example… On more than a few occasions there have been bits of meat in my vegetarian/vegan dishes and wraps. The last time I was there, I had meat in my veggie wrap and I was served lukewarm coffee. I used to order the pastries there, and then I started to think they tasted a little old and stale. I’ve often sat down to a dirty place setting and had to ask for a new set of utensils. Whenever I’ve needed the owner, for an add-on, another drink, or even the check, I’ve had to go to the back of the restaurant for his attention. I’ve also chosen to wait, but sometimes the wait is unbearably long and you can lose your appetite for any dessert, etc. Sometimes I wish I could just leave the exact amount of cash on the table. In short… The food is usually good, even delicious! But don’t be surprised if there’s meat in your veggie dish. Don’t be surprised if you sit down to some used utensils. Don’t be surprised if you’re there for a quick lunch, but leave 2 hours later. I’m cheering for you, Andrew’s Project! The place could probably just use some extra staff to clean and speed things up. Service has always been slow, but back when it opened, it could be overlooked because the food was so good. I really, really want this place to improve and become a staple in Bayonne. There are not many healthy choices and nice people around!

Delicious clean, pure flavorful food, which is beautifully crafted — the shrimp and avacado wrap was full of flavor and gluten free black wrap had a great texture and taste to it that all came together flawlessly — great unassuming corner small shop — great lunch spot if your ever in the area —

This food was absolutely fantastic. Incredibly delicious and nourishing, healthy … perfect texture. I had the eggplant sandwich and the butternut squash soup. Both were superb. Also, me personally, I LOVED that it was just Andrew there seating you, cooking your food, bringing your check. It’s a tiny little place and I know its popularity probably makes it that at times he isn’t able to keep up quickly. But for me it is completely worth it to have a meal made from the heart by a real person who clearly has a talent for clean eating. This place was absolutely wonderful. I hope to come back again the next time I travel through New Jersey.

I wanted to try something vegan or vegetarian in Bayonne with a friend of mine, and we found it. The menu was great with many options for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone. However, I have to add: My friend’s meal, according to him, was enjoyable, until he found a piece of Brillo sponge in his meal – as he put it, «the texture of different from the rest of the meal.» When we brought it to the attention of the owner, he simply told us that was from a cleaning sponge. With no offer of an apology, he simply cut my friend’s price of the meal in half, as he only finished half of the meal. To be honest, YES it was clean if you want to look at it that way. Overall, the experience was fine, but I was not wowed by the owner’s response. Please, still check it out by all means.

I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to go here!!! Everything we ordered was out of this world! We had the vegan platter, mushroom soup, a strawberry and banana smoothie, Mexican wrap, and the Sicilian sandwich. Everything was cooked perfectly and was so flavorful. Such a relaxing atmosphere. The owners sons were extremely helpful and sweet.(I don’t understand how anyone could post mean comments about hardworking kids.) I can’t wait to try out other menu items. I suggest going here to catch up with friends and not if you’re in a rush.

There is not a whole lot going on in Elizabeth, NJ where my hotel was on my latest business trip. My colleagues and I didn’t quite want to make the trek into NYC and being the resident glutard, I was responsible for identifying a place where I could eat that everyone else would also enjoy. Hi ho hi ho, it’s off to Unilocal I go. I typed in Gluten Free in Elizabeth, NJ and immediately discovered Andrew’s Project. After reading a couple of reviews, I decided that if it wasn’t going to be a great fit, it would at least be an «interesting» adventure. We headed over to Bayonne and were immediately terrified by the up and coming neighborhood scene, but being a frequent visitor to San Francisco, I know you can’t judge too quickly. After driving past a number of shirts/skins basketball games(which looked like scenes from Law and Order, like the ones where they go over to Jersey to track down a witness,) and a decrepit row home with a fat guy on the porch enjoying a cold beer on a nice evening, we arrived. The restaurant is situated on a corner and is quite small. The owner introduced his kids to us. It turned out they were our wait staff. Some of the other patrons were put off by this, but I really thought it was cool that they had the opportunity to work with their dad in between doing their math homework. The youngest one was incredibly knowledgable about the menu and the process and although he seemed a bit shy, did a great job making recommendations and helped me make sure I ordered gluten free items. I had the butternut squash soup, which as others have mentioned, is excellent. It was creamy, while still having some nice texture. It also had gluten free croutons, which was a nice treat. One of my colleagues had the gazpacho and the other had the seafood soup(bisque?) As a main course, I had a cuban sandwich. I have never had gluten free bread that delicious. It went in the panini press and was the perfect texture to go along with the shaved ham and mustard. Maybe it’s been a while since I have had a decent sandwich, but this was one of the best in recent memory. The other members of my party had the BLT(recommendation of the waiter) and a chicken plate with chicken, rice and veggies. Everyone liked their meal. The person who got the BLT didn’t even realize he was eating gluten free bread, which is really saying something. For dessert, I had a red velvet cake. This was not any ordinary red velvet either: it was the Andrew’s Project red velvet, which was sweetened/flavored with reduced beet juice and the frosting, which I assumed as cream cheese, was actually made with almond butter. The best part of the meal was when the chef/owner came to talk to us and told us about his background as an employee of Hilton and Carnival Cruise lines traveling the world and helping with getting restaurants re-vamped and running. He even spend two years working for Bill Clinton helping him eat healthy and delicious foods. He told us of his battles with immigration and with the city trying to establish a new, nicer location. What this really boils down to is a guy doing his best to be innovative and building something truly unique with his kids which he can be proud of, while sharing his passion with them. If you ever end up with an evening at a generic hotel in New Jersey or just have a long lay over at Newark, head over to Andrew’s Project — you won’t regret it. If you have to eat gluten free(by choice, or necessity like me) then you will leave with a smile on your face.

Holy crap. This is the first time the food tasted so orgasmic that I immediately had to post on Unilocal.I think I died & am still in heaven. I saw this place on Unilocal and always wanted to try it but never got the chance to. My gluten-free lovin friend told me its amazing. I walked in without any expectations & ordered a shrimp & avocado wrap… & I totally fainted from the goodness! Some crack was in it because it was so delicious! The wrap is made from black beans it was so crunchy and just omg. Andrew is a really nice owner & he described the natural ingredients he use. The place looks super cozy if you want to eat in. If you are vegan, health conscious, love fresh veggies, trying to stay fit, or just hungry. you will love it! 5⁄5 Will be back to try more stuff! :D
