(Super sad face) Pizza is my favorite food. I love pizza because you can make it your own, top it to match your mood/cravings. So of course I was OD excited when I came across this place. A large array of toppings for a freshly made pizza, what more could a girl ask for. I ordered two custom pizzas, one with all of the meats/mozzarella and one with all of the veggies/goat cheese. I asked for the gluten free dough(add about 10 minutes to your wait time because it’s made to order). Unfortunately, the meats pizza came out way to greasy and salty. So salty that one bite had me so disoriented for a good 15minutes. At first I thought, shouldn’t have gotten ALL of the meats, but I’ve had meaty pizza plenty of times before without the mother load of salt killing it. … Then I went on to try the veggies(had to use a knife and fork because the gluten crust is too lightweight to be loaded) and sadly, something on there tasted grainy, almost chalky. I couldn’t finish that slice either. I put the pizza in the fridge. Threw it out two days later. HOWEVER, I did like the taste of the gluten free crust, the staff is very welcoming, and the blood orange lemonade tastes like some bomb kool aid so despite my disappointment I’ll be back to try a simpler pie.

Awesome pizza & employees. They were so accommodating that they had me take a seat & they served my pizza at my table. The pizza was made exactly the way I wanted it. I would have given them 5 stars if they had better parking.

Pretty cool spot. I would definitely go here again. Thin crust and the right amount of bread! veggies was fresh. The workers were super friendly. The personal pie was done in minutes! I like the fact that you can pick as many toppings as you without charging you more.

I come to Blaze about once a week. I teach in downtown Newark and Blaze is just what I need at the end of a school day. The staff is super friendly and will always check in on how you are doing and your if your food is just right. The Build your Own option keeps the options different every time. Blaze has done the Chipotle model for pizza superbly. Keep it up Blaze team!

Ordered online. Got there informed the cashier and they started blazing my pizza, 5 minutes later I was out the door. Pizza was super fresh and the ingredients are top notch. They aren’t skimpy(cough, cough ahem, Chipotle) every slice had everything I ordered. Crust was crispy and delicious! Love it, will be back!

Terrific. For so many reasons. Downtown Newark needs more restaurants! And this pizza is great. Crust is thin and crispy and has that yeasty pizza dough smell and flavor. Toppings fresh and good. Had artichoke pie with mozzarella, ricotta and red tomato sauce. All flavorful. The staff is great, the manager happy and enthusiastic. All great. Will be back.

The pizza is extraordinary! But the stand-out quality of Blaze is the staff. Very good energy from the folks crafting your pizza. Every time I go in I have a delightful chat with the employees. The gluten free crust is quite yummy as well.

As a student on the campus nearby, finding affordable food is always a struggle. This place is absolutely the best option. Fresh & healthy ingredients, great location, unlimited toppings… what more could you ask for? On top of all that, the service is perfect. The staff was friendly, attentive, patient, & made me a great pie. I even joked that my sauce tasted like a little«nonna» was in the back making it. Seriously, so good. I can’t wait to come back!

Ok so I ordered the Meat Lovers pizza with pesto mixed w/white sAuce(if you haven’t tried this it is a MUST!) roasted garlic, red peppers and red onions. OMG. This was the best 9.50 I’ve spent in a long time. The pizza came out PERFECT! The employees are nice pleasant &PATIENT!(which is always a plus). They usually have a line to the door, however they move really fast and the pizza is certainly worth the wait. Definitely will be returning!

Wow, was I surprised to see this neat little place pop up in downtown Newark! My husband and I decided to go on a date to try it out after visiting their website. The concept was interesting, a chipotle-like style way of ordering a personal pan pizza. When we walked in the door we were impressed with the new look of the place. It’s not very big but high ceilings help to make the illusion that it’s bigger than it really is. The staff was very helpful as well. If you’ve been to Newark, then you know it’s not the most pleasant city, however, the staff at Blaze was smiling, kind, and walked us through the process of getting our pizza since it was our first time there. The other very impressive part of the establishment was the pizza toppings. There were so many toppings and they all looked fresh and delectable. The set-up was clean too. They fired up our pizzas in the pizza oven where you can watch it. The crust was thin but not crunchy, which is good because I hate when a thin crust is more like a damn cracker. You can chose one of the pizzas they have come up with or make your own. We both chose a signature pizza. I got the Link In and my husband for the Green Stripe. Both were really nice! I will for sure be going back! :)

I dont ever give 5 stars This place is hands down the best thing to hit downtown newark,(aside from starbucks of course). The pizza, prices and staff are excellent. The unlimited toppings for the build your own pizza should be in every pizza joint nationwide. They also have vegetarian options and house made juices. Will definitely be back…

Pizzas here are AMAZING, for a flat rate you get to add as many toppings as you wish. Staff is super friendly. Note:Order online through website ahead of time for pickup as it helps avoiding waiting in line . (Lines for regular-in-restaurant orders can be quite long during certain hours) TOTALLYRECOMMENDED!

This is a welcome addition to Newark! The personal pizza is plenty large enough and you can get as many topics as you desire. Sauce is delicious and the crust remains plenty soft enough despite being thin crust. No cracker crust here! This is a make-your-own pizza place so it is made right in front of you and takes about 10 minutes start to finish, which is less than most fresh baked pizza places. Come on down! It’s right across from Military Park in the beautiful renovated Downtown. A pizza and a drink is $ 10.50 including tax so it is quite reasonable.

*Note: My review is only based on my takeout experience. Great addition to downtown Newark! I have gone twice now, and placed my order online. It gets pretty chaotic in here during lunch time. The line is always INCREDIBLY long, and understandably so. Great prices for really good thin crust pizza. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the following: 1. The first time I went I checked in with the cashier so my pizza could be fired. I waited for about 10 – 15 minutes until a young woman who worked there noticed I was still waiting. She promptly checked my order, and realized the cashier never told them to put my pizza in the oven. She handled it right away, and I received my pizza shortly after. 2. Again on my first time, they got my order wrong(I had ordered online). I didn’t notice until I got back to my office, but it ended up being a happy mistake(sauce discrepancy). 3. On my second time in I asked for a bag(they have these large bags with handles so you can carry the pizza so it sits flat), and instead of those the guy turned my pizza sideways and shoved it into a small bag(probably meant for salads, etc). Walking back to the office I made sure to hold the box flat, but it was too late by then. ALL of the toppings had slide off the pizza, and had settled on one side long enough to make it soggy. Not that big of a deal, just annoying really. I’m sure I would have a much better experience if I ordered in store, but unfortunately I don’t have the time to do so generally. Even with the little mishaps it’s still great pizza and with unlimited yummy toppings how I could I say no? P. s. both times I built my own, and they were both DELICIOUS.(regular dough, red sauce dollops, ricotta cheese, goat cheese, grilled chicken, fresh spinach, mushrooms, roasted garlic, and arugula topping. YUM!!)

Yeah, I finally made it to Blaze Pizza on Monday!!! Wow, the line was almost out the door. This was about 1:30PM. Seating was very limited at this time. It took about eight minutes to come up to the front counter. The Blaze staff asked me if I had been here before. I mentioned that I had been to Blaze in Willowbrook Mall. You are given several options for pizza such as Simple Pizza $ 5.00, Signature pizzas $ 7.85 along with build your own pizza $ 7.85. All the pizzas are under $ 10.00. Delicious salads are available too! Right now, the only dessert available is the S’More Pie $ 2.00(only 220 cal.:) I ordered the Delicious Signature Red Vine Pizza. They wrote my name on a paper mat. Later, the pizza would be placed on this mat. I paid for the pizza. I would say it took about five minutes from the order to actually receiving the pizza. I went over to get my favorite Red Orange Lemonade :). I previously had this lemonade at the Blaze Pizza Unilocal event at Willowbrook Mall. That’s why I know it’s delicious :) The manager Joe C. came over to say hello and chat. He told me that the restaurant opened to the public on November 19th. At this time, lots of seating became available. I guess everyone finished their pizza and had to go back to the office. I enjoyed the pizza and the delicious Red Orange Lemonade. I think because of such a large lunch crowd, the pizza could’ve been a little bit more crispy. However, it was still delicious. All in all, I had a wonderful second experience at Blaze Pizza. The place is very well organized. The counter line moves quickly from ordering, adding toppings, payment and receiving a delicious pizza. While I was eating the pizza, a Blaze staff member came by with vouchers for a free pizza with the purchase of one regularly priced pizza. Yeah! On the back of this voucher it mentions that you can order online BLAZEPIZZA.COM. They will custom build your pizza before you arrive. But they will wait until you check in with the cashier before sending it to the oven. All the staff appeared confident in their roles. Blaze Pizza is between Starbucks and the Nike outlet at 691 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey. I took a couple of pics. Hope you enjoy them :)

Blaze, I’m so glad you made it here. And you’re just in time. The Monk Room, which was my favorite pizza place in Newark, recently closed, leaving only one good option: Mercato Tomato Pie. With Blaze, Newark now has two. Henry Ford should rise from the dead just to see Blaze’s operation. They have mastered the assembly line. Henry would be proud. Blaze is where Chipotle met Subway, only you don’t get a choice to put your pizza in a bowl or a burrito or in any of that nasty Subway bread. This is build your own pizza, which seems like a disastrous undertaking from a management standpoint, only because they offer so many topping choices for what I’m assuming is a very indecisive type of customer. Located right between a new Starbuck’s and a Nike outlet store, and next to the new Prudential building, this place is a symbol of Newark’s rise from the dust. Build your own pizza or select one of their 8 pre-selected topping choices. Either way, you won’t spend more than $ 10 per pie. 6 slices. Thin crust. Made to order in minutes. Delicious. Very friendly staff. If you get a drink and the s’more dessert, your total will still come to under $ 13.
