It’s alright. But the service is awful. The owners are friendly, but these workers could use some customer service training. Their ticket times could use some help too.

I never write bad reviews but I feel obligated to note that the service was horrible. My boyfriend ordered lunch for himself, and being the girlfriend I am, I wanted to eat his food with him. I walked in and asked for an additional fork and the guy at the front looked at me like I was a criminal before practically throwing me the plastic fork. Not only was this rude but very unprofessional.(a plastic fork, really?) We have given this mediocre deli lots of business and that was a huge slap in the face. Will not be returning.

The food was okay nothing to truly recommend to others. It’s a lunch establishment at best aimed toward college students. The ordering process was a little overwhelming for them because my co-workers and I came to this place for lunch. The person taking the order was not very knowledgeable about their menu and a little short. Overall, even though this place has a place for groups to eat, I wouldn’t return with a large group for lunch. I would come back by myself for generic lunch options. For example, burgers, tenders, etc. They’re much better options for lunch in the area.

My buddy took me here for lunch the other day. They have various smoothies, shakes, and juices. The food menu is has a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, and soups. Its located in the heart of Rutgers Newark campus, so it’s always filled with college students. The seating is limited, but with the quick turnover rate it might be a short wait for a table. This place is a gotta try!

Uptown is my favorite place to go to and grab a quick bite when I am at the Rutgers University campus, whether it’s alone or with friends. My usual specialty is the Cuban sandwich, which is absolutely delicious. I never had a complain from their food nor the staff. What I like about this place is that it’s clean and the atmosphere is friendly. In fact, when you go in and place your order with the hispanic guy he makes you laugh and it just makes it so much easier on a stressful day. A smile goes a long way! Overall, great place and thumbs up to Uptown!

I’ve been here once and I’ll be back. I ordered a ½ cheesesteak sandwich with fries and can of Coke for under $ 10. The food was served hot and fresh. The cheesesteak was very delicious. Great taste and texture. I’m no cheesesteak expert but I would highly recommend it. ½ order was plenty to fill me up.

Quiet, relaxing with great food! Football on during a relaxing hot Saturday afternoon makes it an even more comfortable atmosphere. Me and my fiancé enjoyed great sandwiches so good we couldn’t believe we got them and each a can of soda for a low price of 18.00. Excellent food on the weekend and it’s not crowded?!! We will be back for sure! :)

My go to are their buffalo wings. It’s delicious. The sauce is not your typical Applebee’s buffalo wings sauce and each chicken is pretty big. It’s my go to when I’m craving wings.

I’ve been here few times now, it’s a good deli and I’ve always had good service. My go to is grilled chicken caesar wrap. They usually make it fast and it’s warm grilled chicken with fresh lettuce. I’ve had a smoothie once which was also good, made fresh in front of me but it’s pricey. The sandwiches are fairly priced. It has ton of seating and the interior is nicely done. Overall, it’s nice to have around the campus. They’re friendly and you can go at anytime no matter when your classes are. You can actually find space to sit and eat with your friends.

Used to be Danny’s. Renovated and re-opened with new name and menu. Interior is clean with plenty of seating. Menu is simple like any deli. They offer breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches, burgers, wraps and some of the infamous Rutgers Fat sandwiches. Convenient for Rutgers students and anyone visiting the area. Food is okay, nothing special(Will update as I try more of their food items.) Decently priced. Friendly staff.

Much better interior than what used to be in this location. Service is very friendly and the food is made quickly and fresh. The prices aren’t too expensive and are pretty competitive with what’s around the area. Less than $ 15 will get you enough food for two people and even includes a drink. I would recommend getting the cheesesteak from this place. Still have yet to try the other things, but the cheesesteak is marvelous and juicy. Speaking of the menu, there’s a lot of different choices. None of them will bankrupt you either and I’m sure are made to the same quality that my meal was. I highly recommend stopping by here if you’re ever in the college area of Newark.

The is a deli. That is all. Most of the ingredients here(sauces, meats, breads) seem to be ready-made and nothing to write home about. I’ve been here twice and I’ve tried a number of items from their menu(onion rings, the fat danny, honey mustard chickem wrap, buffalo wings). None of them were bad, but none of them were particularly good either. Just a mediocre deli. The staff is pleasant enough and there’s ample seating along with free wifi so if you’re looking for a place to study, not a bad spot.

A pleasant surprise conveniently located near The Newark Museum. Although the museum has what they call a «café,» it only consists of a small table with coffee, tea, juice and a few snacks. About a block and a half away, the Uptown Grill, also close to St. Michael’s hospital and Rutgers University, is a great option for a sandwich or salad. The grilled chicken sandwich with roasted peppers and mozzarella was very good. The chicken was tasty and not overcooked or dry. The chicken cheesesteak and grilled buffalo chicken sandwiches were also very good. Everything was cooked to order and prepared quickly for takeout. The only negative was that the special requests for modifying the sandwiches by adding ingredients to and taking off vegetables and sauces were ignored on all three orders. The décor was new and clean. I’m looking forward to returning when I’m in the area.

Uptown Grill is by far the best place to eat at on campus! Great high quality food that you don’t have to wait a long time for. My personal favorite is the Philly Cheesesteak because it is made with juicy grilled onions, melted cheese and a fresh roll to make your mouth water. The staff is very friendly and attentive and they provide great service. Another favorite foods of mine are the mozzarella sticks and buffalo. LITERALLY anything you get from the menu taste great and fresh. This is def my go to spot! Be sure to check it out!

Newly opened, fantastic interior, great location on the edge of Rutgers Newark campus. Ordered breakfast sandwich typical Taylor ham egg and cheese. Food — Very good Coffee — Self serve and delicious Service — GRUFF, guy behind the counter more interested in eating his breakfast in plain view on the counter Cook — on her mobile phone the entire time cooking my food. , I’m sure she didn’t sanitize that device and we all know how dirty our phones can be. They should do well at this location serving many many college students who won’t care about these things … For me. the food was good, but there are other options.

The staff is very attentive. The Cajun grilled chicken sandwich was great ! It had blue cheese dressing which worked perfectly on the sandwich. I will definitely be back for more and maybe try other options they offer.

Uptown Grill is certainly an upgrade from the previous luncheonette that used to be in its spot. The floors were cleaned up, the space painted, and there are now a lot more comfortable seating options. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap which was served up pretty quickly. The wrap had fresh chicken that was marinated and quite tasty. I’d try Uptown Grill again for lunch.

Awesome food and atmosphere. Complete remodel makes a huge difference; much nicer and more inviting than the previous restaurant. On Rutgers campus; close proximity NJIT and UMDNJ. Grilled Chicken Sandwich and the Skirt Steak are my favorite.
