Their food is good. Their pancakes are huge and fluffy! Prices are alright. The atmosphere is decent. This place is alright whenever your out drinking and want to crave for something good

Two words. HORRIBLE, SERVICE. Me and 4 of my friends came in tonight and we waited for about half an hour to order after we got seated, and it wasn’t busy there were hardly anyone there. The waiters seemed very unprofessional a few of them were sitting with their customers having full on conversations MEANWHILE none of them gave a crap that me and my friends were waiting looking stupid on our seats. I guess maybe because we’re a young group of guys having a night out makes us look like douche bags. Then when we finally got out food and our check they forced us to pay a «service charge» fee aka a tip. No diner should force you to tip. If you value your job you should give good quality customer service. I will never respect workers who take their mood out on customers just because they are having a «bad day» you signed youreself up for being a waited so suck it up. I do not recommend anyone working in this garbage dump.

I was in the mood for a good salad and decided to ordered one from here. I have to say the portions are very small and the salad was okay at best. I also got to try their turkey dinner and the only good part was the gravy. My order was to go so I cant comment on service since I didn’t eat there. Maybe next time I will come for pancakes since that’s what they are known for.

Okay I went today to this place, first time ever and perhaps my last one. First the table were they sent us was still dirty, there was an old man who brought glasses of water to the table and I said good morning and he didn’t even answer… Oh well, our server; young lady I’m sorry but you have no people skills, she looked half way asleep, like I felt bad for her. The food: I ordered an omelette my cheese wasn’t even melted, the home fries looked terrible, toast were cold, overall really bad. As a Restaurant General Manager for 13 years I can say this place has a lot of opportunities.

No longer a great stop in my opinion unless it’s 3am and you are hammered. Used to get decent portions but I guess they’re cutting back on costs so our appetites must suffer. Still love the manager though, he never forgets a face, good guy

They have the best omelettes. The burgers are great too, especially the uptown burger. It says on their menu that they have the world’s best pancakes, but um, that is not even kinda true…

Food is good, pancakes. Friendly, quick. Table was wet from cleaning, coffee spilt on saucer. Prices are low. Will return, can’t beat the pancakes

Worst service ever… Was seated tonight by their host, who didn’t ask what we wanted to drink… Was looking over the menu for a long while, and not even the managers or waitstaff bothered to pass by and see what we wanted to drink or have for appetizers… About 30 minutes passed by, and during that time, we noticed some mexican waitress pass us up a total of six times, while ignoring us… A woman with glasses and some guy wearing a tie, who looked like managers, passed up our table and didn’t acknowledge us either… The busboys also didn’t give us the time of day too… The thing I noticed was that the caucasian patrons were being served, paid attention to, and chatted to by the above mentioned people in the restaurant(my wife and I are both of Filipino background)… I experienced discrimination in my life when living in South Carolina and in Texas, but would never think I’d be discriminated against here in New Jersey… We both walked out and the two filipino hosts/cashiers asked why we were leaving, and my wife replied, saying that we were discriminated against, and ignored for the time we waited for service… Never again… We drove to McDonald’s drive through, and received immediate service, and acknowledgement of our existence… Their fast food made up for the bad«non-service» and racism we received at Broadway Diner… Also, too bad the Lighthouse Diner down the street was closed, because they know how to treat their customers with respect and courtesy…

Cold chewy calamari. Lousy server. Sad food. This place probably exists because it has been there for a long time. Landmark, sure. Food quality – frozen walmart food is better, in my opinion.

My family and I usually go here for Sunday brunch. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect but the food is delicious! I usually order an omelette such as the«Western omelette» or the«Spanish omelette». The one time I tried their dinner food, it was okay. I will try to eat dinner there again! Service is good, if my family notices something is missing i. e a placemat or utensil, they are very polite and quick in giving you what you need. However, waiting for food can take up to 20 minutes which is not too bad.

I don’t know why people complain about food when they go to a diner. Why would you order veal parm from a diner and then be surprised when it’s not as good as the neighborhood Italian restaurant. I ordered a special a few times on Monday’s; goulash. It’s good and the price is right. $ 7.81 with tax for a cup of soup, plate of goulash with egg noodles and a large fountain drink. You can’t go to a fast food restaurant for that. I’ve also had omlettes with hash browns well done and rye toast light with butter. It comes out right everytime. If you want to be a food critic go to the city and drop a couple of hundred and then complain. Order diner food at a diner and you’ll most likely enjoy your meal and leave feeling like you got a good deal.

Waitress was great, but waiting time for a simple burger was longer than necessary. And when I get it, bun is cold, cheese is melted on, but cold. Had to wait ten minutes for them to stick it in a warmer. My fiancé ordered mash potatoes, it was the BOXED mashed potatoes. Tasted like(censored for our younger readers). My step son ordered a half chicken with potatoes. They dumped a half chicken on a plate… no potatoes. Waffle fries were delicious, Uptown Burger was passable, but unmemorable. Definitely would NOT come back.

It’s not just a Diner. It shares a kitchen with a catering place. So the food is way better. Best Diner in New Jersey. I’ve eaten in all of them.(weight problem)

Well, just when I thought it couldn’t get worse… I received a message on Unilocal from the waitress(Alexandria S, Jersey City, NJ). She actually wrote this to me: «I’d like to let you know that you are pathetic. This has nothing to do with my occupation. Your review on the Broadway diner was totally not admirable on your part. It shows your character. I read your review and have to say it’s totally wrong and blown out of proportion. I deal with customers all day and have been a waitress my whole life. I totally understand that the customer is always right, but that doesn’t mean that they are entitled to speak to someone in a demeaning manner. I charged you for what you ordered. Cold and not with cheese is not a tuna melt in case you didn’t realize. That’s like someone ordering a hot turkey and asking for a cold turkey sandwich price. Clearly you do not understand the operational aspects, revenue, or economics of a business. Go back to school instead of spending your time Unilocaling :) — Alexandria» It’s almost laughable that the waitress takes it upon herself to get online, find me on Unilocal,& then send me a nasty message attacking both my character, education, & the fact that I am an active Unilocaler. Several things to note;(1) she says she’s been a waitress her whole life — she’s approx 21 years old!(2) She says that ordering a cold(not warmed) tuna sandwich without cheese is like ordering a hot turkey and asking for a cold turkey sandwich price. I beg to differ — I asked them NOT to put cheese and NOT to heat it — less ingredients & less labor — shouldn’t the price at least be the same as a Tuna Melt if not less?!?(3) She recommends I go back to school instead of spending my time Unilocaling. Guess I should go back, and upgrade my prior advanced degrees with yet another one, and get off of Unilocal so that others will not know about her horrible service, awful attitude, and disgraceful customer service — I DON’T THINKSO! In any case, I notified the owner of her email, and I believe she now spends her days where she belongs — NOTWORKING at this establishment! Just an FYI… it’s a shame that one person can ruin your opinion of an entire business.

I don’t go to diners for seafood, steaks, meatloaf, triple decker sandwiches or mile high pies. For me, there is only one meal to be had-Lox and onion omelette, well done home fries and rye toast with a good cup of coffee. I’ve had this very same meal at dozens of diners throughout New Jersey. From the horrifically bad to mighty fine. Our meal here was excellent. Great omelette, coffee and rye toast. Shredded hash browns were good but not my favorite. Our server was very friendly, outstanding even. We will definitely be back. Great diner!

Met a client here for coffee last week. They kept the coffee coming when my breakfast companion was late. I tried the oatmeal and it was typical diner oatmeal-yummy. I look forward to coming back to try the pancakes!
