Magic Fountain Ice Cream

Magic Fountain is my go to place when I am craving homemade ice cream or if my little cousins are in town. I love that it has a drive through and a walk up window. They also provide a parking lot and there’s plenty of street parking. They also have a couple of benches outside for you to enjoy your ice cream on a nice day out. This is a cash ONLY place. Please bring cash as it is pretty old school.
The hard ice cream is pretty amazing and my family is pretty big on their Italian ices as well. My favorite flavor in terms of the hard ice cream is the pistachios. It’s so good and there’s little pistachio chunks mixed in. For the Italian Ice, you can actually mix a few flavors to your likings. I love the green apple, strawberry lemonade, blue raspberry, lemon, and coconut. The good thing is you can also buy it by the pint to take home and enjoy it for the entire week!
Service is rather quick and the price is average. You will not be disappointed!

Weekends when the weather is nice it does get pretty busy and of course it’s great that they have a drive through which if you’re patient enough you can enjoy your ice cream or home made gelatos in the car or if you’re unlucky you’ll wait on the line outside. The weather really determines how long you will be waiting due to the line. The only complaint is that the menu that they have on their window which shows you the hard ice cream combinations they have don’t match the actual pictures. I learned the hard way when ordering their specific «peanut butter buster» which appeared to be on a cone and ended up getting a smoothie like blend on a cup lol Ask for a cone if you want it or else you won’t get it. By the way i believe it’s cash only.

This place could be a little expensive but they definitely give you lots of ice cream! Also good to mention that the ice cream is top notch! This place has been open for many years and always has the longest lines! Shows how awesome their ice cream really is

When ordering a shake make sure you check before pulling away that it was made properly because they will not fix the issue if you come back. Also, heads up to the owner, put camera by drive thru window, one of your employees has many friends with a sweet tooth, dont appear to have money though!

I moved to the area at the end of summer and was sooooo happy to see this place. All the cashiers were very nice. The ice cream was pretty standard but the line moved very slowly

Very disappointed went tonight to get ice cream at 9:55pm — they were already CLOSED! You should fix your website which said you were open until 11pm!

Great place to grab some ice cream on a sunny day! They have picnic benches to sit and enjoy as well. I got the mint chocolate chip with rainbow sprinkles. Ice cream was very good and staff was super friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for ice cream in Bayonne!

Tried the waffle cone with coconut ice cream which was pretty good. Would definitely recommend as a quick ice cream trip.

Really good spot for ices. Being from Staten Island and always eating at Ralph’s ices; I’m glad I found a place in Bayonne that feels just like home! Good spot-​we will be walking here during the summer.

I am an ice cream connoisseur, and this place is amazing! Soft serve is very flavorful, I love the Hurricanes– it mixes soft serve with any toppings. Best spot in the Bayonne area! I’m never disappointed

Magic Fountain brings out memories from coming here with friends when I was a kid. Growing up I never really understood why we spent more to buy fresh ice (it all tasted the same me). Now I’m a full grown adult I realized there is BIG difference between fresh and store bought. Service is good and fast.
Magic Fountain hits the spot when your craving ice cream. I usually order the sundae with dry walnuts and whipped cream when I’m in town. The prices are reasonable and the ice cream taste consistent. The only downside is they don’t have frozen custard but their hard ice cream is almost comparable.

Classic good olé’ ice cream place. Not only does this place have great ice cream, they provide something more valuable to every customer: nostalgia. I feel like a kid every time I come here and often revert to what I used to get as a child: sundae with hot fudge, wet walnuts and whipped cream. Yum.
The hard ice cream is beyond amazing. Authentic ice cream is hard to find and Magic Fountain has been able to do it.
There is a drive through, streeet parking and an area in the back to enjoy your sweets. Everything I have had is great so you really can’t go wrong.

Magic Fountain is such a staple of Bayonne. Their homemade ice cream, Italian ices, and novelty items are absolutely delicious! It can get crowded as everyone loves this place but lines move pretty quickly. The staff is friendly, helpful, and competent. This is the perfect go-​to on a warm summer night!

This place is a must. From the frozen bananas to the hot fudge sundaes and the banana ice is too good. Wherever there’s dessert I’m there!

This is by far the best ice cream in Bayonne. Its the best place to go during the summer with kids and enjoy some good home churn ice cream. Love their hot fudge sundays. Plus there is always parking available.

Went to Magic Fountain last night after dinner, which is a regular occurence for my friends & I. While I very rarely eat ice cream, they love to cap off the night with some fresh ice cream from the drive-​up window. Well, as always the ice cream was delicious (according to them), including pistachio & coconut with various toppings. HOWEVER, the girl at the window was MISERABLE. She had a horrible attitude, definitely didn’t want to be there & asked us the same question 6 times — «do you want whipped cream on that», even though we had very specifically told her exactly what we wanted & didn’t want in the item in question. The line took awhile before we got to the window, but given her attitude & inability to understand basic directions/​orders, I can imagine that this is the problem.
I know that this place is a Bayonne landmark & that kids & adults love to come here (I know my 2 kids love it here). However, the experience is only as good as whoever takes your order on that particular day, which is not the sign of a good business — inconsistency! I would suggest to the business owner some re-​training of staff, and teaching them to smile, ACT like they’re enjoying themselves & want to serve the customer. At least let them learn to fake it!

The ice cream is good… if they have it. I wanted pistachio. Nope. Chocolate chocolate chip? Not a chance. I settled on mint chocolate chip which was good… but not what I wanted. The customer service was good… Despite my complaints I’d come back again. Lol

You know it’s summer when Magic Fountain opens for the season! Homemade ice cream and Italian ices make this the go to spot for a sweet treat. They have so many options! The staff is super friendly and accommodating. It’s truly one of a kind!!!

When there is a line both through the drive through and the walk through you know it must be good.
They have regular ice cream in more flavors than you could try in a single summer, then they have Italian ice in more flavors than you could try in a single summer, then you can mix the flavors of each together if you want, then they have generic ice cream truck popsicles as well. It is enough to make your head spin trying to decide on what you want to rot your teeth with. I had the Italian ice mocha-​chino flavor and it was a glorious taste of perfect coffee turned into a perfect slushy icee, mmmmmmm.
All in all I recommend this place to anybody looking for a cold treat on any type of day.
