I was passing through town and wanted to get some Thai for dinner. Sweet Chili got got reviews so I decided to try it. I ordered my two favorite Thai items: Thai salad with peanut dressing and green curry and chicken. The salad arrived and I was not impressed. the lettuce was yellow and not fresh. Worse the dressing tasted nasty and bitter. It was not editable. The green curry chicken was also lousy. It tasted bitter and not like the green curry I have had before. The vegetables were mushy and the chicken was dry. My recommendation is to go somewhere else for Thai food.

I stopped in here for a brief lunch break and had the pad Thai. The service was quick however the food was bland. The chicken tasted like it was soaked in dirty water and the rest of the pad Thai didn’t really have much to offer there were no veggies at all. I also caught a glimpse of the kitchen while I was paying and it didn’t seem to sanitary in there. I don’t think I’d recommend this place to anyone however this review is only based off of one dish so proceed with caution.

Meh. The chicken was rubbery. Maybe it’s good for takeout but shutdown was a disappointment.

I’ve only ordered their spicy pad Thai vegetarian style but it’s amazing. If you like pad Thai this is your place!

We’ve ordered takeout here before and it was ok but we wanted to see if the food was better fresh and maybe possibly find a Thai restaurant we could enjoy going to for a nice dinner out in Bayonne. So first we learned that this is defiantly not the kind of place you sit down at for a nice romantic dinner. More of a take out restaurant. It’s a very tiny restaurant. Very outdated. Everything is a light wood color. The tables, the chairs, the walls. The tables all had electric tape on the bottom for some reason. It’s a family owned restaurant. The kids were riding their scooters in and out of the store a few times while the couple quarreled in the kitchen. We didn’t mind it given the atmosphere called for it but still… not something you want to see and hear while you’re eating dinner. But the people were friendly to us and they took care of us. The food was ok. Came out quick and looked fresh. I got the pad Thai and it was good at first but when I got to the middle it started to taste weird. Kind of slimey. So other then the atmosphere sucking, the people were nice and the food was ehh. But I think we’ll stick to driving to Jersey City for a nice sit down at a Thai restaurant.

Food was not good. My Pad Thai tastes like vinegar. Place is very dirty also. Needs a whole new update. I will not be going back there.

The chicken pad thai(country style) is delicious and spicy. The apps are great and everyone is really nice and accommodating to any dietary needs

I used to love this place but I ordered here recently and was disappointed. I ordered the country pad Thai with shrimp and veggies. There were no veggies and although it was spicy there wasn’t much taste either. The dishes here used to be 5 stars amazing. Maybe it is hit or miss now I don’t know. Also my thai iced tea was sour so I had to throw it out and wasted my money. They are always very nice when I order here so I feel kind of bad writing this review but let this be a lesson that you can’t be lazy when you are charging top dollar for food. If the customer ask for something give it to them or if you are out of it let them know and offer an alternative. Never give anything spoiled to a customer, ever!

Not just the worst restaurant in Bayonne, but actually the worst Thai food I’ve ever had in my life. Let me paint you a picture: We ordered the chicken satay: it tasted like processed lunch meat, if you were to shove it on a stick and then overcook it. We got a shrimp Pad Thai. Everything was mushy. There were no fresh veggies. It was bad, but it was the least offensive thing we tried. We got the Basil shrimp. It had 4 sad little basil leaves in the entire dish. It was supposed to come with veggies… and technically it did: green peppers and onions– steamed until they were flavorless. Then they dumped a sweet, watery sauce on top. The dish was SWIMMING in that watery mess. I also ordered the Tamarind Duck. It is described as a roasted half duck with vegetable and a plum sauce. The sauce contained no detectable plum or tamarind flavoring. The duck may once have been roasted, but its impossible to tell because it was also DROWNED in the exact same watery sauce as the shrimp dish. There was so much water in these dishes that I felt compelled to measure it: exactly a cup of soupy, flavorless piss, saturating everything in the container. That’s HALF A CUP in EACH entrée. The vegetables in the duck dish were boiled or steamed to the point of being flavorless mush. Its the sort of thing you’d expect to find in a hospital cafeteria. We also got a coconut soup of some kind. I couldn’t even take a bite. Instead of the scallions described on the menu, they threw in raw yellow onion slices. There was a giant slab of overcooked chicken breast in there too. To top it off they also used canned mushrooms. In fact, all the veggies we saw in our entire meal seemed exactly like they came from cans. We took a few bites of everything and then threw it all in the trash. Disgusting. The chef owes us an apology. That meal was offensive.

This is a great restaurant in Bayonne, NJ. Every dish I have ordered is appetizing. Owners are very nice and friendly. I don’t eat in the restaurant, usually when I come to pick up an order the kids are doing homework and they are busy cooking. It is cute and cozy inside but small. It’s a shame because you can tell when they opened they had every intention of being a sit-down, yet through the years(probably due to lack of space or customers dining inside) they let the front near the register get a little messy behind the counter. Not to say it’s dirty, it always looks very clean! I always go back to this place for Thai. Have tried others in the area and was not impressed. I am a happy customer at Sweet Chili!

Sweet Chilli in Bayonne is one of the few good things my ex girlfriend contributed to my life. The food is amazing, the chicken and broccoli, fried rice, and sesame chicken are heavenly. I have introduced quite a few of my friends to this place and everyone agrees that it blows away all of the other Thai food favorites that everyone has previously enjoyed even everyone’s favorite Thai food favorite Spice in NYC. The staff is great, the owner is a really nice guy, and his family is very accommodating. This is not only my favorite Bayonne restaurant but one of my overall NYC and NJ favorites! Highly recommended! *****

Coming from Jersey City, I find it difficult to locate a place that has the oh-so famous, succulent pad thai. My search had ended. Thanks to a previous reviewer, I have found my holy grail pit stop in Bayonne. While service and décor may be lacking, their country style pad thai makes up for it ten fold. There’s something about the sweet and spicy sauce that really pulls the entire dish together. Other reviewers recommend to ask for delivery or take-out, but eating in is really the way to go. I’ve had my fair share of doing take out, and let me just say, it’s really not the same. Their pad thai lacks in the wow department when it’s compressed in a plastic container. Eating in just brings out a whole new flavor level. You have to do it. Some days, service will be better. My second time eating in was better than the first. The father, I presume, came to our table and actually served us. It’s not the most glorious or glamorous way to serve guests, but it’s better than none. Brownie points for the cute kids sitting and playing around. They don’t run around or scream. A very cute family-run shop! I’ve convinced a friend of mine to try their pad thai and she was instantly hooked. She’s not one to love new dishes easily, but this country style pad thai convinced her otherwise. There are days where she asks me to go and get some with her when it’s usually the way around. We’ve actually convinced our group of friends to love it as well! We go in a group whenever we can make a trip to Bayonne. Truly delicious and satisfying. You’ve got to try it out!

The owner keeps her head buried in a laptop. The service needs to be better. The salad that comes with Pad Thai was thrown together. The Pad Thai was okay… a bit light on the chicken. I wish I could give it more than two stars, but paying a bit more attention to customers could get get then another star. For 6.25 for a lunch special, I can’t be complaining too much, but Bayonne has other options for 6.00 which are a better alternative.

For years, I’ve come here for one thing: Country-style Pad Thai. Typically, Pad Thai is sweet with no spice, but this is a variation that makes it spicy. Tasty, delicious, addicting, and large serving size. I have friends who come from NYC just to an enjoy a meal here. Seriously, I’m not sure what they put in it to make people come back for more. While you’re enjoying the Country-style Pad Thai, go ahead and order the Thai Iced Tea, because it’s a good complement to your meal. Sweet Chili is a good family owned restaurant, that won’t break the bank, and has a great variation of spicy pad thai. Come hungry and leave satisfied.

Wanted: Owner, Cook, Waiter, Busboy, Babysitter Besides being the delivery man, the owner of this family-owned(you’ll see his family running around the restaurant) business does all of the above. Saves money? Yes! Sacrifices customer service? YES! So why the four stars? We order delivery here a lot since it’s close to Port Liberte and there are couple of dishes that I’ve tried that have become my favorites. The [not so] CRISPYCHOOCHEECHICKEN is delicious – well, the sauce is. The crispy texture isn’t quite there especially if you order out because of the trapped steam; but you can put that sauce on the worst dish you’ve ever had and it’ll instantly become your favorite! Note: this sauce is a curry based sauce so if you like curry and spicy food, you’ll like this. Not too heavy and the sauce elevates and really carries this dish. Their SINGAPOREMEIFUN(aka Singapore Noodles in other restaurants) is another sauceless, curry based dish. I really like it here. As a big fan of curry, I order this dish frequently at other restaurants and this place makes it well, although it could use a pinch of salt. I love the way the thin noodles absorb the curry spices. A simple accompaniment to any dish you choose. As for their sushi? The turnover rate didn’t seem high so I was hesitant to risk disappointment(and my health). Last words: Beware of the lack of service when you dine in. Because he’s the equivalent of Swiss Army Knife, we never received utensils or plates and received our water long after we were seated. We had to go up to the register to place our order and ask for whatever we needed. Consistently interrupted by phone calls and breaks to cook, be one of those phone calls and order delivery instead.

Best Pad Thai in the Tri-State area. That’s right i said it! Make sure to wash it down with their Thai Iced Tea. Atmosphere is pretty good and the staff is friendly. You won’t go broke when eating here either. The prices are very wallet friendly.
