Just wanted to write a warning that my previous review was written when this place was called texas taco… I’m not sure how all reviews were transferred over since I was under the impression this place was closed. I haven’t been since the name change and have no idea how the food is now, eat at your own risk!

It’s not a bad place to eat. I got the crawfish enchiladas and was expecting them to be a little more flavorful but they were bland. I would go back though, the staff was attentive and good and they also have free ice cream which is new to me coming from SW Texas.

Delicious pulled pork, barbacoa, and chicken tacos. I ordered the«willy» and it was just what I was expecting. A great, quick lunch.

We loved this place. The queso was a great start. I’m a huge fan of real barbacoa and this place had delicious barbacoa tacos that had a lot of flavor and weren’t super greasy. The jerk chicken tacos were awesome, I love spicy stuff and these managed to make me sweat a little. They were super friendly and even gave me a margarita sample that was basically a cup full. It was a decent margarita. Not bad. I would definitely go back there and get me a $ 2 happy hour margarita.

2 stars, that is all. Guac lacks flavor, tacos are just ok, I’ve definitely had better. Not really sure why torchys is suing this place, there is no competition…

Mixed emotions… I purchased 2 tacos, chips and queso, and a drink for $ 14.29. The food is really good don’t get me wrong but the price is a little bit to high considering it isn’t a standard restaurant with waiters and table service and such. At the end of the day they still are tacos and chips that I just paid 14 bucks for. Reminds me of Bullritos.

This place was good when it first opened. The last 2 times I’ve been has ended poorly. The barbacoa was WAY over done to the point that it was inedible. The margarita is not«the best in town» as advertised. It was frozen & pathetic. The staff is inadequate at best.

LOVETHISPLACE!!! The Texas Hold ‘em is the best I my opinion. Eggs, potato, cheese, and smoked brisket. Their Diablo sauce is amazing! Plus, they deliver. Can’t beat that! Will be a repeat customer.

Man this place blows. Three times I’ve been here, hoping for improvements. Don’t do it. Also, the«best» margarita in Texas is NOT served here. Go somewhere else.

Food was OK — probably would have gone over better had the staff been even SOMEWHAT friendly. Food took FOREVER, we looked around and all of the tables had numbers — some people had been here much longer than us. Staff was rude, they had no avocados, no guacamole, all of the tables that were unoccupied were dirty. Yuck.

I give the tacos 3 stars because the tortillas were store bought not homemade! I judge my tacos on tortillas, then flavor of the taco as a whole! Use a softer cheese that melts better like a Mexican cheese. Over all it was filling and the hot sauce was good!

Ok so the biggest turn off about this place is that it’s a rip off of torchys tacos. Granted they are delicious… But come up with a few of your own? Just an idea… I love going for breakfast tacos, although my favorite for breakfast is just the fajita meat… for lunch usually one of the pulled pork tacos, always on flour with the poblano sauce! So so yummy. The staff usually looks confused… But they get the job done… I will return as long as this place stays afloat. I was disappointed the other night when they closed 15 minutes early and had to miss out!!!

Yes, this place has a menu that’s strikingly similar to Torchy’s. I don’t really care. I’m hear to eat food and the tacos are amazing. I’ve tried the entire menu and can’t really find a flaw. The jerk chicken taco is my favorite. Use the diablo sauce to really keep your mouth on fire. The guacamole is also excellent. The staff appears to be confused quite often and running around a bit but I“m sure it will get better with time. The prices are a bit steep for street tacos but you can’t argue with the quality. I normally get two and leave pretty full. It would be nice to see a little experimentation with the menu but that might already be planned. Isn’t to be missed.

This place is awesome! Better than Torchy’s by far. The tacos are bigger and the prices are better. Only bad part is the limited locations.

The food is pretty decent but extra greasy. The prices seemed very high. And once I visited Torchy’s and noticed their menu was the exact same tacos with different names, better food and cheaper prices, Texas Taco Co. became obsolete. Torchy’s came first, by the way. Please come back after the lawsuit, create your own menu and get your own style.

Trendy décor and creative menu, but the tacos are not worth the cost. For $ 4 each, this place ought to be amazing but this is not the case.

I like this place, and have eaten here twice… But like another Unilocaler mentioned, this place is a straight rip-off of Austin’s Torchy’s Tacos. The flavor is good, but when you’re stealing someone else’s play book, you can’t really expect to fail. The menu — taco by taco, even their sauces and queso — is EXACTLY like Torchy’s… Except Torchy’s does better. You can’t beat the original. So, if you want a good lunch, stop in. You’ll like it. But they get two stars from me for being unoriginal — especially when a short drive to Houston Heights will let you experience the original. You won’t regret it. Considering they’re being sued by Torchy’s for such an egregious rip-off, I wouldn’t expect this place to be open much longer.

Didn’t know what to expect from this place since we only heard 1 feedback. Glad we decided to stop in a have a taco because we were really impressed. I had the barbacoa and my husband tried the mad cow. Both very good taco bursting with flavor and tenderness. We loved the guacamole and the chips and hot sauce, the perfect side. I’m giving only 3 stars because they were out of salt and pico. The guacamole did need a little salt, but everything else was well flavored. I was supposed to have some pico and lime with my taco but it was left off. Still, a good taco. I love how they name their tacos after famous gringos… Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings… etc. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Went on a different day to have breakfast and wasn’t as impressed.

Ahhhh I told myself that i would take a hiatus on rating taco joints, but it’s just too hard. Maybe after this one… I eat here for lunch 1 – 2 times a week and loooooove it. I normally get the taco of the month, which has been The Mad Cow for around 3 months or so lol(steak, corn, black beans, queso fresco) and their tilapia taco(forgot the name). It was originally a salmon taco. However, they started getting charged too much for salmon and switched to tilapia. It’s just as delicious. The meat is always tender and service is great. Yes, I agree with others that they are a bit pricey… but that’s somewhat of a good thing since it keeps me from going too often and turning into a giant walking taco. You can’t go wrong with any of their tacos. I believe I’ve tried almost all of them with delight. One non-taco item you must order at some point in time is their green chile queso. That stuff is so good that you may want to smoke a cigarette afterwards. Maybe two. Check this place out soon if you haven’t already. You won’t be disappointed.
