I made reservations to rent surf boards from this shop and never imagined the irritation that would follow. As a frequent traveler I try to support local business owners whenever possible. First of all the location listed for this place on google, yellowpages, and mapquest is wrong! After calling a few times we finally realized ourselves that the store isn’t even in Harvey Cedars, but several mile south. It wasn’t until the fourth time I called that the employee explained they don’t have a street address. Now this place is on Long Beach Island, not Madagascar. I’ve been to places without addresses and it wasn’t anywhere in the US. Where is their mail delivered? Never mind that, anyway the place isn’t even located on the street listed on the website. Had I not paid in advance I would have gone to the Ron Jon we drove past fifty times. Between two gps systems it should never take an hour and a half to find anything. After returning the boards we find that we have been charged $ 19 a piece instead of the $ 15 listed on the crappy website. I mention this to the employee only to be told the website is run by google and has no affiliation with the shop. Please check it out to understand that neither google nor anyone competent past grade school computer class would ever have anything to do with such an idiotic home made site. I sent an email to the guy in charge and he couldn’t even be bothered to reply «sorry» or «I’ll fix that site of mine/google’s.» On top of all this the employees were just rude and useless. My advice is to stop at Ron Jon’s after you cross the bridge onto the island and rent the same boards $ 10. Definitely check out the other local businesses, especially Pinky’s Seafood.
