The Engleside Inn’s restaurant was high on our list 20 to 25 years ago. But nothing has changed. The menu is basically the same except the quality has declined. The sushi bar is decent but not great considering the quality and quantity of local seafood available. I suggest that at the prices changed that ownership engage a consulting master chef to totally redo the menu. I do not mind paying a premium price IF I get a premium meal. That has slipped away at The Engleside, unfortunately. Craig LaBan’s review in the Philadelphia Inquirer was right on the money. A few weeks ago I had Seafood with Vodka Sauce and had quite a it to take home. The next day, the vodka sauce had turned into a gritty gluey mess. Not good.

Oh how I love this restaurant. Everything on the menu is cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. I had the filet cooked at a perfect medium rare and tempura rock shrimp for appetizer. I would order both again for sure. My mother loves the Maryland crab roll, which I stole a bite of. Delicious also with lump crab piled on top. Great variety from sushi to steak, pasta, seafood, and chicken. A full bar and great service from Morgan makes the Engleside a home run.

I have been coming to this restaurant for the past 20 Years and it has always been a great experience. I think engleside is one of the best restaurants in Lbi. The food is always awesome, fresh and never disappoints. Whether it’s sushi, or entrees from the main menu. This past week I went with 4 other friends. I ordered one of my all time favorite appetizers which was the tenderloin beef stir fry. So delicious and a fairly large portion. Then I had the blackened swordfish over angelhair in a light garlic sauce. Fish was fresh and delicious. I took half home with me. Always a great meal with a variety for everyone on the menu.

Stopped in to the sushi bar just before the lunch service ended. It was not a problem. Good fresh sushi and very pleasant staff who made sure we were satisfied before clocking out. Worth the high price.

Very mediocre. Way overpriced, ambiance is «blah,» food is 1 notch above wedding catering. If this is the best sushi on the island, this island needs serious help.

Great sushi! Some of the best I’ve ever had. Bartenders attitude kinda killed it a bit. But all together a great meal

We stay at the Engleside every summer for a weekend and then rent a house across the street for a week later in the summer. The hotel is fine; clean rooms, great location, and friendly staff. But my favorite thing about the Engleside is the grilled tuna tacos at the Sandbar — they are perfection.

The Engleside is one of our regular dinner spots for many years now, when visiting the island for our one week stay in a rental nearby. The sushi is very good(especially for a nice lunch from 12 – 2, plus with dinner in the main dining room. Our servers are always excellent, even in a packed room plus our party of 10 in the mix. Portions are quite large and always result in a doggie bag. Not cheap, but for a special dinner on LBI, well worth an evening for us(kids and adults included).

My family and I were in the area for a wedding so we stopped by for dinner. We were 4 plus a 2 year old and the bill was $ 180 without drinks… so it is a little spends. Appetizers: Lobster Bisque — quite good, a few pieces of lobster in the bisque. Calamari — really good, not rubbery at all. Perfect cook Main course: Tuna — generous portion, cooked well(to order) Lobster/shrimp/scallop fra diavolo– good, not great. Scallops and shrimp not overlooked which is good, lobster was over Lobster/shrimp/scallop in Vodka sauce — good, similar cook to fra diavolo(lobster overcooked again) We didn’t have desert. $ 4.50 for a scoop of ice cream is a little too pricey. Overall I would recommend. The 1 star deduction is for the overcooked lobster tail, and having empty water glasses a little too often. Service was friendly though.

My go to place for sushi on LBI. Rei the sushi chef is awesome and drew the bartender is a great conversation. I usually will go for lunch from 12 – 2.

Fantastic sushi. Clearly the best on the Island. Ray serves it up with Charm. Linda and Dave behind the bar are wonderful.

Generally good most of the time. Been going here for years as well its a good place to find pretty good food. I guess the way to describe the engleside is to say it’s good not great.

We have stayed at The Engleside for the last 5 or 6 years during the summer and we love it! We have stayed in all different types of rooms as well and have never been disappointed. Rooms are large, clean and comfy with, at a minimum, a nice sized fridge and small coffee pot. We love the rooms, the pool, beach access and the restaurants as well! Nothing like coming off the beach to hang by the pool and enjoying some adult beverages and live music! We’ll be back again next year!

I was there a few weeks ago for a rehearsal dinner. I got the chicken platter and it was pretty good. My boyfriend got the filet mignon and I of course had to try a bite. Well, we had to switch dinners after that. It was hands down the best filet mignon I have ever had. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. I’ll definitely go back.

Stayed at The Engleside Inn this past weekend for a much needed getaway. Doesn’t matter it is January and basically everything in LBI is closed. Dog friendly location a and very clean rooms. Accomodating staff and you can’t ask for more than that. Third floor suites have a nice deck and oceanview. We will be going back!

I’ve stayed at this hotel serveral times over the years. Rooms are pretty clean, but I did find some pet food on the floor under the heater boards when I dropped a bottle cap on the floor. The ocean view is sweet of course. Great to catch a sunrise! Haven’t ate in the restaurant, always ordered room service. It’s always been pretty damn good. I just had the rack of lamb which was really really good. Very juicy, and full of flavor IMHO. On the downside, they should take the sushi off the menu because it left a lot to be desired. I’ve had better sushi from supermarket, and for the price I’m paying I expect there to BE some sushi in the friggin’ roll. My friend had the pork chop and was very pleased. The veggies we both had were good. Overall the food has always been good, except for the sushi. The rooms have always been in good shape. My only complaint about the rooms is the towels are tiny. I’ll bring my own towels next time.

Holy Miso Sake Roasted Chilean Sea Bass! This fish couldn’t have come from the sea. I swear it floated down from Heaven, swaying back and forth along its earthbound journey like that Forrest Gump opening credits feather, and landed itself perfectly on a pillow of jasmine rice and grilled asparagus, surrounded by a halo moat of miso sake and ginger vinaigrette. With a tinge of sweetness, a velvet touch, and an intoxicating decadence all around, this has got to be the best Chilean Sea Bass I’ve ever had. Hell, it may very well be the best fish dish I’ve ever had. The Engleside Inn is sure to please even the toughest seafood critics. It’s beach town fine dining done exceptionally well. And no matter how high I can sing their Sea Bass’ praises, this Long Beach Island landmark is thankfully no one-trick pony. Their Lobster Bisque(with fresh cream and sherry) boasts a wonderful texture, is bold in taste and voluminous without being too thick, almost as if it were meringued. The Blackened Sea Scallops(with drawn butter and lemon) are a devilish one-two punch of paper-thin, crispy exterior and melt-in-your-mouth mollusk. And their Claims Casino(half-dozen littlenecks broiled with green peppers, sweet onion, and bacon) are a clear favorite comfort food, perfect for passing around the table. All of this washed down with a couple of Pyrat Orange Mojitos(Pryat XO Reserve rum, Agave nectar, fresh mint, lime and orange juice with a splash of club soda), truly one of the most refreshing drinks I’ve drank all summer. Plus, let’s not forget about the Sea Bass. In addition to the dimly lit, white-tableclothed main dining room, The Engleside Inn also houses a pretty spiffy sushi bar, as well as an outdoor pool-side patio for casual dining overlooking their beach-front property. And while I can’t comment on their accommodations because, well, I’ve never stayed here, it’s awfully tempting to book a room for the simple convenience of being as close as humanly possible to some of the hands-down best seafood I’ve ever had. Or haven’t I mentioned their Sea Bass? Well, it’s tremendous.
