We’ve always heard great things and finally went. From start to finish, this place was a bust. Maybe too early in the summer? While presentation was nice, Appetizers were ho-hum. My scallops were cooked so much, it felt like I bit into a Haribo Gummy Bear. Risotto underneath was good and I ate it all. Left 2 of the 4 scallops. They offered me a coffee for my troubles. Server served the wine and threw the cork on the table. For a high-end place, these folks have work to do to make the summer through.

My friends & I had an exquisite meal here this summer. The back garden room has a lovely ambiance, complete with lights encircling the trees & dangling overhead. The staff is courteous & knowledgeable. If it’s an important bottle of wine, you may bring your own. I can’t wait to repeat this experience at The Gables!

We stayed at The Gables Inn for our anniversary. It was a labour day weekend and the inn was pretty full. The inn is very nicely decorated. Our room was small, but very nice and very clean. The check in staff was nice. They have a library room on the second floor where you can chill out during the day. The biscotti, water, coffee and tea are complimentary. The set up is so nice that we made a few very nice pictures at the hotel while we were there. We had breakfast on the front porch twice while we stayed there. Breakfast was supposed to start at 9am and when we got there, it was still being set up and we were the only ones waiting for it. It was a buffet style with plenty of choices — pancakes, eggs, yogurt, etc. Everything was extremely fresh and tasty. The pancakes were really good and the French toast was amazing — it was melting in your mouth. I typically don’t like a french toast, but it was amazing! The following day the breakfast was not a buffet style but from the menu. Not sure why — no one explained to us how breakfast works. We could order only one thing from the menu and of course, I went for the French toast that wasn’t that great that day. It was a little too chewy. Overall great experience and extremely nice décor. The only complaint that I had was that we were told to keep it quiet when we were making pictures in the library. It was only 2 of us and we were laughing and having a good time — how much noise could we have possibly made? And it was during the day, not that it was a bed time. And there was no one around!

We ate here on a weeknight during off season. Had no difficulty getting a reservation. Excellent service. Server was very knowledgeable of menu and her recommendations were spot on. We had the eggplant meatballs and the tuna for appetizers, both were delicious. Highly recommend the pork chop for entrée, best pork I’ve ever had in a restaurant.

The Gables is «over-the-top» fabulous! Fine dining! Exemplary service, luxurious accommodations, attentive staff. The ambiance makes it the perfect romantic getaway for any time of year or just a break from the crowds and sand. We are so grateful to have had the experience.

My favorite place on LBI. Not only is the atmosphere stunning the staff is amazingly friendly! We sat on the porch and I fell in love with the décor and scenery. The food is just as spectacular adding to the overall experience. Everything was delicious. Highlights for me included the fresh mozzarella and prosciutto plate and the kale salad which comes with a fried macadamia nut crusted goat cheese. My experience was heavenly.

Really incredible menu. Everything we ordered we loved. My wife’s favorite dish is sea scallops and this was on par with her all time favorites. I had gnocchi w sausage and peppers. The peppers were surprisingly sweet which added a nice touch. A fantastic dish. Dessert was blackberry sorbet and a s’mores tart. Excellent. Beautiful atmosphere. Great service. Perfect musical selection in the background(Dianna Krall’s Pandora channel). Pricey but so worth it.

What a beautiful dining experience! We ate outside, loved all the flowers, great atmosphere! Inside is just as beautiful! You are greeted by a piano player when you walk in. We had poke which was outstanding & mussels as appetizers. Scallops on a bed of risotto & tuna for main course. Both were great. Also yummy white sangria! Service was outstanding.

We had dinner at the gables to celebrate my daughters 22 birthday. Let me start with the ambiance. The old Victorian home is quite charming and the flowers were all blooming making the setting magical. We requested and sat in the back yard which was beautiful. I highly recommend to dine on the porch or back if the weather is nice. The staff was really helpful and new their dishes quite well. They treated our food allergies with care and attention. They were very attentive but not to the point of being annoying. The food was really well prepared. I started with the dark kale salad with mangos and nuts which was amazing. This was followed by a gnocchi with sausage and pepper. The gnocchi were homemade and melted in your mouth. My wife had the salmon that was very good but slightly over cooked. The short ribs was also very well prepared. The desserts are all homemade and quite wonderful. We had the smoores and blueberry cheesecake. Both were really tasty and presented beautifully. We were also sold on wine from Nj. Yes, wine from NJ. To be honest, I didn’t know nj had any wineries. The wine was wonderful. Make sure you try it. We were never rushed and the owners were very caring and engaged. This is a must do if you are ever in the area!

I really wanted to like this restaurant. It is beautiful. It is elegant and romantic, but something is missing. First the service: it is too fast. This is an expensive restaurant($ 225+ with wine, tips and taxes for two), it is elegant looking. But for this kind of restaurant the food came almost too fast. I was expecting to spend a couple of hours over dinner. But we sat down and they were on us for our order. They have no liquor license, wine only — and a limited choice at that(only 13 selections). Dinner with three courses plus coffee had us finished and out in about an hour and a quarter. I found that very fast for this kind of restaurant. The food is good, not great. This is one of those places where the chef uses one too many ingredients in every dish. For instance, I had watermelon gazpacho; it was sweet and delicious. But the four or five pieces of crab meat in it did nothing for the taste. I love crab, but it didn’t belong in this dish. The Szechuan Tuna had a spicy vegetable concoction that was delicious but completely overwhelmed the tuna. In another case, the s’mores dessert tart had a graham cracker crust that was just too thick(and too sweet for my taste). The food is presented beautifully and it looks great. But it is merely good to very good, not great. Go here for a special occasion.

Wow, so good. The place is beautiful, inside and out. The staff were all very friendly and professional, and the food, fantastic. I have one gripe even if I did love the place, I ordered the duck breast for myself and the filet for my wife and as I ordered each I was told«And that comes cooked medium rare» which was how I wanted it, but, it came out a little close to medium well. It was all still great, probably having a great time with my wife and two bottles of wine helped me to mind a little less but if your going to tell me how its done, you should try to do it the way you told me it should be.

Came here for a nice dinner before our vacation was over. Great service and amazing food. We all ended up with the 5 course meal and every course was delish.

Came here on a date night after hearing so many great things about this place. It truly is a beautiful setting; an old Victorian home with candles everywhere, a piano player, and a lovely porch surrounded by the nicest garden in Beach Haven. We were pretty excited about this place. My fiancé and I had a 6 o’clock reservation, arrived about 15 minutes early and were seated right away. We brought our own wine, but they do offer a list of New Jersey wines if you prefer. As a NJ native, I can assure you, we don’t make very good wine ;) Dinner was good. We both enjoyed our entrees. I got the Scottish salmon, which had a super crisp crust on top. Very tasty, and I have never had such a good crust on salmon before. My fiancé got the scallops and risotto, which he said were great. My 3-star rating comes from the service. I found our server to be rude, short, and an agist(Odd because he didn’t seem more than 27 himself). Assuming he figured we would be cheap, every other able was given their choice of tap or bottled water, he just gave us tap(fine by me, I let that one slide). When we placed our order, he insisted one appetizer wouldn’t be enough to share. I’ve never had this happen at a restaurant, since appetizers are usually designed to be shared, so we ordered one more. Of course, when either appetizer came out, they were both plenty big enough for two people. Clearly just trying to get our bill higher. He lacked personality throughout the dinner and seemed to give more attention the surrounding tables. The food was very good, the location was lovely, its a shame that our experience couldn’t be as good because our server had very little interest in us.

We loved this restaurant! The décor is beautiful. We dined inside however the outside is beautiful; both the front porch and the back garden. The service is top notch. We enjoyed a cab franc wine. The group ordered a selection of appetizers and salads. I loved the chilled soup and my mango and tomato salad. I heard the crab was good too. I had salmon for my entrée. The fish was good, and the sauce was fantastic. Others ate red meat and said they enjoyed it. For dessert we shared the s’mores and the trio of lemon. Yum!!! We loved it and will go back.

Best meal on the island, hands down. Came here several years ago and sat in the beautiful garden out back — suddenly you are transported to another place & time. Large rose bushes and classic white tables create a British countryside feel. This visit, we sat on the front porch, which was equally as charming(and better for my mosquito enticing scent!) Even without a reservation(which is recommended) we were sat within 15⁄20 mins — after a lovely visit to their library for wine & biscotti! Everything was amazing — from the bread & cheese plate — to the s’mores dessert. I’d say they have one of the best filets around — and I’m comparing to some of the largest steak houses in NYC. Perfectly cooked and melts in your mouth! Byob if you prefer, though they now have an impressive wine list as well. Do not miss this gem on LBI!

Wow, what a setting! Romantic, lush gardens abound! Beautifully appointed interior and exterior! Owner pay attention to all of the little details. BYOB — didn’t know this until we arrived, however, they do offer Bellview Winery wines. Overall the food was good, a little pricey but that was expected. Unfortunately both my dish(wild boar) and my husbands(lamb) were both well done. Medium rare was suggested but these were left on way too long. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Great for special occasions! Beautiful setting!

The Gables is a gorgeous restaurant & B&B that is meticulously maintained and offers indoor as well as outdoor seating. We ate indoors as the weather wouldn’t cooperate, but that is ok because the dining room was so elegant and warm. We enjoyed the Tasting Menu where every course was simply delicious. The presentation of all dishes was exquisite. The meal started off with delicious sautéed shrimp served on a beautiful shell. This was followed by a mushroom soup with goat cheese that had us craving for more. Next was the Imported Burrata Mozzarella with Prosciutto de Parma, Grilled Tuscan Bread and Baby Arugula in a Homemade Fig Marmalade which blew us away. Everyone has had fresh mozzarella, but this was incredible. The wild mushroom risotto with truffled mascarpone was again out of this world. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection and served with extremely light and tasty saffron whipped potatoes and tasty veggies. The dessert was a decadent molten chocolate cake and homemade vanilla ice cream. The Gables served us one of the most delicious meals and I can’t wait to go back.
