Perfect find for a local seamstress. Allyson’s work is of high quality and above your average alterations. I come to her for more complex alterations, formal dresses and wedding dresses.

I can’t say enough good things about Allyson’s work. She did a fantastic job on several pairs of dress pants — they now look like they were made just for me. I found her prices to be really reasonable, too. She’s also really sweet, and her shop is so welcoming. I’ll be back!

Allyson and her business By a Thin Thread were awesome. I had to get a hat altered. I had the hat previously altered by another seamstress in Beacon but was not satisfied with the work. I came across Allyson’s business and she was able to quickly and professionally correct the work of the previous seamstress. On top of all of this, she did everything in under 24 hours and for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this business.

I love this place! Allyson has great style and takes great care of your garments. She has altered a number of vintage dresses for me. She gets the job done in a reasonable amount of time, her prices are extremely fair, and her attention to detail is incredible. This has become my «go to» alterations shop. I feel confident buying clothes now that need a little nip and tuck because I know Allyson will perfect them.

I have tried multiple places to alter everything from pants to coats to bridesmaids dresses throughout the Hudson Valley, all with disappointing results and large price tags. When I found Allyson, it solved all of my alteration and tailoring needs! She does superior work, is extremely reasonable and friendly. Highly recommend this place for everything you need fixed in a timely manner, at a great price and quality and with a friendly smile.
