I only come here to work on my own cars. I’ve never had any of the employees do any work for me, so my review is based on what I’ve used. I come here a lot for oil changes on my car, my van, and my RV. They have an RV lift outside and that makes it easy to get underneath and check EVERYTHING they tell you to in the RV books. The Auto Hobby Shop is also in charge of the RV Storage lot. They use an RF chip card in order to get access to the lot, so no more back and forth with keys. The downside is that at Lackland AFB, I pay $ 25/mo, Goodfellow charges $ 30/mo and at Beale AFB, I pay $ 50. The price has since gone down to $ 45, but that’s still more than most other bases are charging. Would I use the Auto Hobby Center again? If I still lived in the area, I most certainly would.

Came here on a cold wet day with Pauly J. to get his light assembly changed out on his car. For a friday afternoon, the place had about 4 slots open while other basic car maintenance was going on. The Beale Auto Hobby Center has about 10 car slots so that you can perform whatever vehicle maintenance you need to do. The staff also perform various jobs such as: tire rotation, oil change, brake/coolant flush, a/c, and alignment. If your vehicle is not driveable, they also provide tow service. Toolboxes are at each car slot so you do not need to bring tools, and special tools can be signed out. If you have access to get on the base, need minor maintenance done while at work, than the auto hobby shop might be your best bet. Everything is there that you need, and when you are done, you clean up your own mess. See photo for price list…

I’m a big fan of the auto hobby shop. I rent a stall from them occasionally to work on my truck and old Jeep. The cleanliness, availability of tools, and help from the on-site mechanics and staff is phenomenal. Their stall and fluids fees are cheap and if you need to hire a mechanic it’s only $ 60 per hour!!! Most places around here charge $ 100+ per hour. Whether you want to work on your car or have someone else do it, the auto hobby center offers services that are reasonably priced and convenient. Note: They also have an RV lift =), but no motorcycle lift =(
