This ShopRite supermarket is in the Governor’s Square shopping center. I’m pretty sure this supermarket has been around a while, but the surprising thing is the interior looks bright, clean, and new. Service is also pretty good, with helpful store associates on the floor. However, I have long moved on to the world of discount grocers, mass merchandisers, and warehouse clubs. I really only visit this store when I see an outstanding deal. The problem with the ShopRite chain is, like most other supermarket chains, regular prices are on the high side and the specials are loaded with fine print on item limits and restrictions on what varieties you can get within the product line. Although checkout scanner accuracy is fairly good, I still end up having to visit the service counter every other trip to a ShopRite because something subtle that I didn’t notice invalidated a store special.

This place is always packed. They sometimes have fresh local produce section which we always get when available. There’s a sushi section, hot foods and sandwiches area too. You can sit and have a snack in there. The pharmacy people are extremely pleasant and it’s right in the front entrance. The luncheon meat counter has pre-sliced deli meats and cheeses available if you don’t have time to wait. I usually order at the kiosk and pick it up after I am done shopping. The have a small bakery area. I’ve had better experiences with cakes in other Shop Rites. They’ll slice your bread for you if you ask. The lines at check out are always full but they do open a lot of lanes. It’s a good store but the crowds can seem a bit overwhelming. I’ve always gotten a parking spot though.

One of the best supermarkets I’ve been to. Fine fine, you got me, I’m a shop rite snob, so? Their produce is fresh and fairly priced, and baked goods? Don’t even get me started. I lived in the Midwest and they would charge more than $ 4 for a bundt cake and muffins. Never in my life have I been more happy to see a pound cake priced at $ 1.99. Aside from that, this place really looks new, clean and organized, really not what I was expecting from Delaware, since the one in east norriton, PA and edison, NJ really don’t look too nice, but great job DE, give yourself a pat on the shoulder.

Prices are good but i would not recommend buying fruits or vegetables here. They go bad real quick. Theyre redoing the whole store so hopefully the layout is a lot better than what they have now.

It took over an old Safeway but had to add on to encompass all the offerings. It is a nice clean grocery store with good size isles for shopper traffic. The food variety range from cheap to reasonable to normal people foodie items. Good variety of brands there is a great deli with a good offering of meats and cheeses. Bakery with pastries and bread. Café with hot items for sale. The produce is bountiful and fresh with organic options if you are so inclined. The staff was frisky land quick at the check out with lots of lanes and self checkout options. Since it is in a plaza type mall there is lots of parking and traffic signals to get in and out easily.
