My wife and I were looking for a place to eat. We saw a young man, Orlando, and he appeared to be a chef by his clothing. We asked for a good place to go and he said«right there«. Turns out«there«was Wren’s and what a stroke of luck. We had Kelly serve us and she was great. We had the fried green tomatoes, mussels and shrimp and grits. All were 5 stars. I’d drive from Charleston to eat here again

Love Wren. It’s a great place for a drink and appetizers at the bar, a romantic dinner for two, or lunch with the girls. Everything I’ve tried has been good, and the service is always upscale, classy and friendly.

Great place. All of our sandwiches were great. The hot ham and cheese was piled high and had carved ham. Burger and bistro fries were good. Shrimp roll on French bread was nice as well.

Décor is very cool. We went on a busy Saturday evening and were lucky to catch a seat at the bar. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Need more places like this in Beaufort!

We have been here a number of times both in the bar and the restaurant. Food is generally great although occasionally under seasoned. Service is friendly without being obtrusive. Reservations recommended for dinner as the dining room is small.

I can only speak to the lunch items that we got, which may be a reason for a lower star rating. We got the she-crab soup and crab cakes(it was a very light lunch) to share. The she-crab soup was different than most but good in its own way. The crab cakes were a little on the bland side. I’d like to come back to try the shrimp and grits that everyone raves about. The décor, however, is gorgeous!

My family usually eats at Saltus, which has always been fantastic, but this year we wanted to switch it up. We originally had reservations at Breakwater, but were told to check out Wren Bistro. We showed up a half hour early for our reserved time and were seated immediately, as our table was already set. We ordered heavy apps, two orders of tacos one fish and one beef, fried green tomatoes, and calamari. All were fantastic. My mother ordered the shrimp and grits, which everyone makes down here and these truly were fantastic, as another review said«the perfect mixture of shrimp, bacon, and grits.» My sister ordered the red snapper, and my other sister ordered a seafood pasta. Myself and my stepfather had the frogmore stew, which was incredible. The broth at the end was perfect for dipping the delicious bread, not to mention he phenomenal herbed butter brought along with it. Most importantly, our server, Brittany, was incredible. I have a very lively and over the top family and Brittany took us with stride. A true sweetheart and a magnificent server. Everything came out perfectly and we will definitely be back next year. Thanks again Brittany and the rest of the crew at Wren!

I would love to write a review about this place but unfortunately I never got a chance to try the food. After being seated My girlfriend and I waited for over 10 minutes and we were never even acknowledged. Tables were being cleared, the table next to us even got a second round of drinks and we got nothing… not a hello, not even a water. It was infuriating… and extremely disappointing to be so obviously ignored. We left and I didn’t even get the opportunity to tell the hostess because she was somewhere else when we walked out and across the street to Breakwater. They welcomed us with open arms and the food and service were great! Wren, go to hell.

Wonderful service and spectacular food. I had the Buttermilk Breaded Pork Chops with apple brandy sauce. They were moist with great flavor. I ate every bite! My husband had the shrimp and grits and almost licked the bowl. He said it was the best he ever had. My son cleared his kids cheese pizza. The Italian herb butter was awesome too. We’re already figuring out how we can plan a trip to come back to eat here.

Wow. I don’t often think to write a 5-Star review when I am in a restaurant — usually, that is for 1-Stars. The service was outstanding. The food was even better. I always get Shrimp and Grits when I am in the Low Country. I have had it at at least 100 establishments and this was one of the best — if not the best(there was this place in Charleston about 15 years ago that I can never find and I don’t know if it even exist anymore… I don’t remember the name). Anyway, it was outstanding. Perfect mix of grit, bacon, gravy, shrimp! Also, the butter that they bought out with the pre-meal bread was out of this world! My wife had pork chops(recommended by the lady at the table next to us) and they were phenomenal as well! My 10-year old said the pizza from the kids menu was great too.

Décor, staff, wine, food — wonderful. I love restaurants that decorate tastefully, simply, with that subtle modern big city feel while incorporating the uniqueness of the area. Every thing from the linen to the lighting is intentional. Finding a gem like this in a beautiful small town — what more could you ask for. The Shrimp Diablo was the perfect choice for me this evening, impeccably prepared; my husband felt the same of his Shrimp & Grits. Our guests were equally pleased with their dishes. We look forward to coming back again next year.

Wren brings new meaning to the(not so) traditional sandwich. Definitely worth the wait. Had a chance to check out the Dinner Menu. Looking forward to my next visit. Hopefully the wait won’t be so long.

Wren is a nice restaurant. Great place when you want to get away from the chain restaurants. The food is yummy too. Love their fries! The eggplant lasagna is delish, salads are to die for! Steak is great too. I haven’t tried anything I didn’t like.

Favorite restaurant, when we make a trip to Beaufort it is never without a stop. Iced tea, fish sandwich, Southern Tier, salads. Always enjoy the meal, staff is knowledgable and if you can’t make up your mind, ask, they’ll give you an honest answer based on your preferences

I went to Wren on my last visit in town. Usually the food and service is decent, but I’m still disgusted by my last experience there. This girl, Kate or Katy, came to my table about 20 minutes after I sat down, didn’t ask for me drink or anything just an eyeroll and a «what do you want?» I asked her for the soup of the day. She just kind of blankly stares at me and says«I dunno.» So I wait. and she doesn’t seem to want to find out. So I order and hope to get my food. At this point I’m getting a little annoyed but maybe she’s on drugs, or something, her eyes were pretty red, I don’t know. She takes my order, and then just sits down at the table next to me and starts chatting with some young group at that table and eating food with them… I’m guessing they were her friends based on the laughter, tickling and kissing. FINALLY she brings brings me my food(40 minutes later…) and as she comes out of the kitchen she is literally WIPINGHERHANDACROSSHERNOSE while holding the plate, thumb in the fries. I thought that was a good time to ask for the manager. She told me there was no manager on duty, and came back seconds later, threw the bill on the table and walked off. Right as I got my cold, nasty food. I was left with no choice at that point but to write this review. I wish I’d saved the check so I could remember her name and report it to the manager, but I was so angry I tore it up.

You may want to pick another restaurant. The location and the décor are wonderful but that’s about where it turned from great to ordinary. Service: Really good«but.»…we were seated right away and the server came to our table moments later to take our drink order. Although she was courteous she felt a little distant. It didn’t affect our service per se as our drinks were refilled each time they went low and she definitely kept checking in on us but it wasn’t a warm atmosphere, if you know what I mean. Food: Good to fair. I ordered the Burger with gouda cheese, which was the nightly special(the burger not the cheese). The burger was unseasoned, undercooked and served on a stale bun. The shoe string french fries that accompanied it were real good but it couldn’t make up for the overpriced tasteless burger. After speaking with our server I also ordered a side of onion rings, which were unseasoned and tasted fair at best. My wife had better luck with the tomato soup. It wasn’t a memorable meal just very good but far better than mine. For desert ee settled on the Coconut Cream Cake and it probably would have tasted better had they let it get to room temperature before serving but it also tasted somewhat stale. Cleanliness: Very good overall bathrooms, dinning /bar area and everywhere else looked good. Overall: We were a little hesitant coming here having read a couple of the other reviews on Unilocal. However it was within walking distance from our hotel and being foodies we thought we’d give it a try but after spending time at some of the other restaurants, also within walking distance from the hotel, we wish we would’ve chosen differently. We found Wren to fit perfectly with the Unilocal rating A-OK but considering the other choices and price we won’t be going back the next time we return to the area. 3 Stars sums up the place.
