I was not interested in the typical«Say Yes to the Dress» wedding dress shopping experience, and I definitely didn’t want the princess wedding dress. I came up to my hometown of Pittsburgh for one weekend and was determined to find a dress before I went back home to DC. My mom, close family friend, and I had a great low-key shopping experience at Ribbon. The store has a nice bridal collection but also carries a lot of prom and formal. Though low-key and relaxed, the staff is knowledgeable, professional, and so friendly. Melanie and the other staff treated me very well, without all the fluff and«oohs» and«ahhs» and«OMGs» of some of the other bridal shops. After getting a pretty good sense of what I was looking for, they got a little creative and pulled a beautiful Sherry Hill formal gown in ivory that wasn’t even part of the bridal collection, and it was perfect. Unfortunately, the dress was from last season, and it could not be ordered. The store’s seamstress, Arlette, worked her tailoring magic to bring the dress perfectly from a size 8 to a 0, for a very reasonable price considering. Throughout the entire experience, everyone made me feel so good about my choice, and I felt so beautiful on my wedding day.

I am not stressed and my dress is worked out. I am have a custom gown being made by Eva Dixon of I Do Bridal… she was referred from Koda(who is amazing for all you plus size brides… I just have some difficult measurements to fit… and I was a cancer patient and have some damage to my back) But, I was treated badly by this company and I feel that it should be reviewed… I also did not go to the Seven Oaks… I went to the Cavanaugh Bridal Show and I had someone introduce themselves as the owner(I am assuming it is Melanie)… because no I wouldn’t say something about someone I never met. I mean… they wouldn’t even let my mother into the studio to look at a bouquet… so… take that however you want…

I purchased my daughter’s senior prom dress from Ribbons. They didn’t have the dress she wanted in stock, but they had her try on similar dresses by the same designer, and took her measurements. They called me as soon as they contacted the designer, luckily they were able to order the original dress she wanted. When the dress arrived it looked lovely, but needed a few minor alterations, we met with the seamstress and she did a wonderful job. All the sales associates we worked with were amazing. The experience made my daughter feel very special, it is a lovely salon and I will definitely return with my younger daughters when it’s time to purchase a Prom Dress.

My bridesmaids and I were pretty up in the air about what designer they wanted to pick to wear to my wedding in May. Ribbon happened to carry two of the harder to find lines(Dessy and Lela Rose) so my sister made an appointment to try dresses on here. One of the sales associates helped her to pick out the dresses I had selected for the girls and she was in the process of trying them on when the owner asked her to leave the store if she didn’t intend on purchasing the dress there that day. Pretty sure that retail works in away that lets you try things on without a guarantee of purchase. The owner refused to budge on her demands. We took our business somewhere else. I’d avoid this store at all costs unless you like to be embarrassed and yelled at by a holier-than-thou owner.
