Tried to eat there but they completely closed themselves for a private party, even for take out. I am not going to try again.

I have to laugh at some of the other reviews. I guess some have massive expectations on décor, lowest prices, etc. when visiting a local«mom and pop» shop type of restaurant. I’ve been coming here for years(including the prior ownership). It’s always been consistent. Clean restaurant, consistent above average food, good portion sizes with just above average prices(and when you are a smaller locally owned business you aren’t going to get the ability to lower your prices when you aren’t purchasing in the bulk amount largest restaurants receive). I’ve had quite a few of their menu items, dined both in and take out… and I’ve never, ever been disappointed in the food or the service level. My suggestions to them… their menu is VERY large with the number of items they offer. My suggestion is to scale it back to 7 – 10 items(max) for entrees. Doing so may help lower food costs by streamlining what you offer, increase frequency of items being purchased and ultimately lowering your«cost per item» you spend when purchasing your items wholesale. Keeping the same price points will then lead to stronger profits. If you’re coming here for amazing décor…stay home. If you’re coming here for a comfortable, clean atmosphere, pretty good food and to support a local business — you won’t be disappointed. As for those who are leaving negative comments about the amount of sauce you receive when doing a to go order… are you kidding me? On your way out stop at one of the dine in tables… open your to go box and put on additional sauce if you’d like. It’s not rocket science folks!

Really good customer service and very clean restaurant. I got the teriyaki chicken and my husband got the spicy chicken. They were both really good & the rice was cooked perfectly. :)

Horrible service and even worse the food. The chicken katsu is by far the worse I ever had. It was proportioned really small and just extremely over cooked with no flavor. I will never return to this place. Waitress was not friendly and did not bother to see if we were okay.

The place being empty should have been a sign but I was optimistic. Big mistake! Horrible food, horrible service, horrible atmosphere! And to top that off, as if you need a topper, after spending $ 27 on 3 meals, I requested extra teriyaki sauce for each meal. I was told by the cashier/cook that it was not needed for the yakisoba noodles I bought. Not sure why she felt the need to dictate how one enjoys their meal but I asked again, telling her that I would like some as my daughter likes it to add it. She then proceeded to tell me «we usually charge for that». I told her to keep it — which she happily did. But I found it hilarious that to give me an extra ounce of teriyaki sauce«to-go», she wanted to charge me but there were full bottles sitting on every table for those who choose to dine in. There are other teriyaki places in Beaverton and my suggestion is to locate one of them instead of settling. Hope she is pleased with her trade — lost customers but did retain an extra ounce of teriyaki sauce.

This place is filthy, needs a thorough cleaning. Everything you touch is sticky. Food was mediocre. They need to do a total renovation.

This is my go-to teriyaki spot. It does take a bit for them to make the food(even for take out) but I would rather wait a bit for fresh food then for it to be fast and have the food taste microwaved.

I had lunch at this restaurant on Thursday and ended up with food poisoning. It was a great place until that happened.

I’ve been to Amara Teriyaki three times now, and my first visit was a bit… off putting. It turned out to be a learning opportunity about a potentially great lunch spot though. During my first visit, it took a while(roughly 15 to 20 minutes) for the food to be made and the inside décor was very much hole-in-the-wall/struggling start-up restaurant like. Overall, the place did not give the best first impression. Fortunately, the food was made fresh and the chef was very attentive to make certain our order was correct. Since it took a while to order food the first visit, I decided to call in a lunch order a few days later. The Lady Chef once again made certain the order was correct, and the food was made fresh. I noticed a trend the second time around when I picked up my lunch. There was a child playing some kind of hand held video gaming system near the front counter. It turns out the child is the chef’s son, and that to me is an indicator that the Lady Chef is working that day and the food will be freshly made, made correct as ordered, albeit a bit slowly made. So, I recommend this place. It’s a locally owned restaurant that will probably continue to become better given time. Best to call in an order, or plan on hanging out for a while in the restaurant. Absolutely the BEST teriyaki food I have ever had. I loved Chicken Bar when they were in business but I can honestly say that this place is even better. It’s hard to believe that someone as simple as chicken and rice could taste so different from place to place. This place truly hits the nail on the head though. Want to know what I mean? Try their spicy chicken teriyaki and you’ll think it’s the best you’ve ever had. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I would eat here every single day if I could!

The food was not good. It actually gave us stomach aches. Kind of disappointed with the five star reviews. Definitely will not go here again.

I used to go here when it was Sun Teriyaki and loved their spicy chicken. We came here last night and ordered the hot and spicy chicken/teriyaki beef combo and the Kung pao yakisoba noodles. I was happy that the hot spicy chicken seems to have the same flavor and they give you a lot of meat! We spent $ 16.99 for both. The noodles were a little oily and had more celery and onions than I would have liked, but they were still good-I just probably wouldn’t order them again. We will definitely be back as their portions and quality are really good for a teriyaki place!

Very helpful and the food is great! We order our favorite_gyoza. I also love the teriyaki sauce, I have grown up with teriyaki all my life and this is on the top of my list!

Used to be sun teriyaki, but w/a new owner and now called Amara Teriyaki, I love the spicy chicken yakisoba, with the owner being Cambodian, in addition to the usual teriyaki fare, there are traditional dishes being added to the menu as well. If you see the beef jerky in the containers on the counter I highly suggest picking one or 3 up! Sooo good!

Wow, some people gave this 5 stars? $ 8 dollars for a measly 18 skinny strips of dried chicken, vegetables hard and bland, brown rice also flavorless. I won’t be back. There was a sign on the door said«cook needed»…I second that.
