Best Care Animal Hospital

I found this place on Unilocal,and was a little concerned, given the reviews, but after OHS recommended it, we gave in. We took our little Harley in here for a check up and rabies shot. We just adopted him a week ago from the Humane Society, and need to get him set up in Washington County.
Dr Don was amazing, and I was so glad. After reading some of the previous reviews, I was hesitant, but it was totally unwarranted.
Harley was terrified, but Dr Don was able to help him, ease some of his anxiety and really understand where little Harley was coming from. We got some heart worm medication, which I hadn’t even thought about, and Dr Don took his time and explained the difference in dog food and which are better than others. He even gave us a couple samples of some that he sells to see if Harley even likes them.
Overall, I’m so happy to have found this place, and its within walking distance to our home. Great vet and great experience.

Dr. Scarpinatto and team are the VERY BEST!!! We have been going to Dr. «S» or Doc for several years but recently we had a very close call with our black Lab, Chase, the love of our life. Doc and the team saved him after a very intense two weeks… even over the 4^th of July, they came in so Chase could be in the hospital during the day and then come home at night. They never gave up and were just so wonderful. Chase has seen Doc for many years, but this last go round was so incredibly unbelievable and I just can’t thank them enough.
We were lucky enough to find him when Chase was only about 1 year old. He had been going to another «reputable» vet and had something wrong with his side, well after three visits (two in the same day and they charged me TWICE for each visit, literally hours apart) they told me it was just a bump and that he should be fine… my Cats doctor mentioned Dr. Scarpinatto and suggested I take Chase there… thank goodness he did. Doc looked at Chase, said I know what it is, it is a grass seed/​awn that had burrowed into him, almost to his lung. Doc did surgery, pulled it out and Chase was fine. I still have the seed. As Chase is a very ACTIVE hunting, fishing and playful dog, he has gotten in to many «incidents» and I thank God for Dr. S and the team who have taken care of him and helped us nurse him through.

Dr. Don and his staff are WONDERFUL for my two pets (a dog and a cat).
We we’re referred to him when another vet on NW Cornell, one we had been seeing for a few years, near Costco (Space, the final…) tried to tell us our cat would be fine If we just spent $ 3000 to have some teeth pulled (one of the new vets had just completed this part of her schooling and was eager to try it out…). We couldn’t afford this and were suspicious as well, so got a second opinion.
Dr. Don heard our story, thought it was utter b.s. and said he knew what it was, but would run tests to be sure. Unfortunately, he was right… kitty had feline leukemia. She would need constant, regimented care and it wouldn’t improve her quality of life at all. We made the difficult decision, and it WASN’T $ 3000 for teeth!
Nearly all of these reviews are right on. Dr Don isn’t much of a people person, but I don’t fault him for that because he MORE THAN MAKES UP for it as a Vet in how he cares for the animals in his charge. He is passionate about how animals are treated and the corporate b.s. involved in pet care (good, health, etc.).
He does try to get you to buy some of his stuff, but if you can’t afford to, he’ll come up with alternatives and still cut you a break… never to just pedal stuff but to care for your pet. One example is he will let you buy 3 flea pills at a time instead of a box full if you happen to be on a tight budget. In the beginning for me, he let me make payments on part of my account.
You may not like his personality with the two legged people, but his commitment to the four legged ones is undeniable and uncompromised. The cats that roam around his office like they own the place (don’t all cats?) are great ambassadors. Go see Dr. Don. You’ll be happy (so will Fido) you did!

havent even see the vet yet but so far not impressed, I was referred to them by another vet and since I was a referred patient they won’t honor the Free Exam Certificate they have on their web site .Not cool ! I guess I won’t be a reoccuring patient then.

Most of the reviews here were good, so, we decided to give this place a try.
1) Vet is more interested in selling the products that he carries. Kept telling me that the food we give our dog is not good and the ones that he carries are better. They are twice the cost of what we feed our dog… and we don’t feed our dog cheap food either.
2) Paid $ 160 for a blood test and was told I would get a call back with the results. I had to call them back 2 weeks later since I had not heard from them.
We will be looking for a new vet…

Don the Veterinarian was very informative and helpful. His front office gal seemed very into pets, not so into noisy kids in the lobby (mine lol). He seemed to really know his stuff and prices were reasonable. Only disappointment is that I went to another review site which Best Care suggest and saw that new clients can receive a free exam for the first visit which I didn’t get to take advantage of (was on $ 43 though and worth it).

Prior finding Dr. Scarpinatto we were extremely frustrated with a veterinary hospital in the area. After a couple of months, several expensive bills and lousy follow ups our puppy continued having the same issues.
We were lucky and happy to find him, who quickly diagnosed and treated our puppy’s problems. We remained with him ever since. He is straight forward, knows his business and doesn’t over charge you. He doesn’t mind taking the time to explain anything you need to know.
We love him and his staff and we’ll recommend him to everybody.

Dr Scarpinatto addressed the issue my dog had with multiple solutions to utilize over time. His initial treatment regimen and follow-​up care were highly effective. His alternate choice remedies for future occurrences/​prevention were very economical/​effective.
I absolutely recommend Dr Scarpinatto and Best Care Animal Hospital for quick, effective, economical, and friendly treatment for your pet.

We love Dr.Scarpinatto. He has cared for our Dog and 2 cats. We have utelized him in emergency situations and general vet care. He is Caring, entertaining and full of information. We woud highly recomend him to anyone!

Brought our new rescue pup here because he was having a few issues. The vet took care of our concerns and helped out finding a food that the picky pup would eat by giving us a lot of free samples. The whole staff was friendly and caring. They calmed us down with things we thought were major concerns that were just minor things resulting from his surgery and his move to a new place. I will gladly be taking our pup and our cat to these people. They really care for the animals.

Last week, we brought our little rescue kitty to Dr. Scarpinatto in Beaverton, Oregon. He is a most well-​informed and confident voice in the veterinary profession. Dr. S spent a full hour discussing the panel results of our old, hobbily-​wobbily, unwanted and abandoned cat. He offered practical insights how to best move forward. After a very abused life, I felt tremendous relief that our «Raffi» had access to humane and well considered medical attention.
While sitting in the waiting room, I struck up a conversation with another dog owner who travels well over a half hour specifically seeking Dr. Scarpinatto’s care. She has seen him for years and has taken all of her pets to him for advice. We talked about the high level of care in this clinic that made it so worth the effort to drive the extra miles. Especially with senior, geriatric animals-​Dr. Scarpinatto excels.
Dr. Scarpinatto serves his profession with dignity and intelligence. Your pet will be humbly served by him and his warm and welcoming office staff.

Our friends recommended Dr. Scarpinatto when we needed a second opinion on our dog’s injured knee. He quickly and accurately diagnosed her without doing x-​rays or sedating her. He was frank and honest with us.
Dr. Scarpinatto really knows veterinary medicine. We are grateful for his expertise and detailed knowledge.

Let’s begin with their emphasis on me being on time to make my appointment. Upon arriving early, I was rewarded with a half hour wait before they would even look at my dog.
Sure, they offer a complimentary initial exam, but that’s only to allow them to over charge you on a myriad of additional services, medications and their own in-​house products. They must hate giving out that complimentary exam because once they saw I was in for that, they pushed every possible thing they could on me and charged me for every little step including reading the instructions on how to apply the medicine. I asked them to explain the bill and even the vet wasn’t sure what he was charging me for. Just a bunch of scribbles.
Furthermore, the vet treated us with extreme condescension. Unless you are an animal expert and have worked with animals for decades you don’t know anything and are a horrible pet owner. The staff there were no help either. They just sat around and I was forced to assist the vet with his procedures. I didn’t realize I was paying them to do the work for them.
The vet didn’t even seem to like animals. It seemed like he was just trying to get us out the door as quickly as possible while taking as much money from us as possible.
Poor facilities, poor service, poor staff, poor doctor. Poor Care Animal Hospital.

Thank you so much for the time, knowledge, and care in helping get my sick kitty back to heath. I went to a Banfield 4 days prior because it was a holiday. A friend recommended I try Best Care and Dr. Don. This was the best advice I could have been given. Not only is Dr Don & his vet tech’s awesome, knowledgeable, and kind, they are reasonably priced. Dr. Don & his techs took time with me. He was going to spend as much time as Boss needed, and made sure to answer all of my questions.
This will be my always vet for all 3 of my kitties.

I have used this clinic for the last year and have to say I love Best Car Animal Hospital. I love the doctor and love the staff. I have a small mix bread dog and my dog was not doing well after our move in January 2012. I did not know how close to death my dog was due to an infected anal gland. I called the hospital and advised them what the symptons were and was advised to bring my dog in straight away. The doctor saw him right away. Unfortunately, my dog had to have a minor surgery but had it not been for the quick thinking doctor and staff I could have lost my best pal. The doctor advised me that if I had waited any longer the infection could have broke into the internal organs and my dog would have been a gonner. My dog Ted E. Bear was put on meds and the doctor gave me his number in case there were complications over the weekend. (The surgery was on a late Friday afternoon) I am greatful to the doctor and appreciate the responsiveness of him and the staff. I did end up having to call the doctor over the weekend after my dogs surgery but the doctor reassured me on the care directions. My dog made a full recovery. Thank you for giving great care and taking care of my Ted E. Bear!
