Wow what a great find! My travel partner in crime and I were in the smith mountain lake area looking for a last minute place to stay and by the good luck of nature we found a hidden diamond! Let’s start with the fact a great couple own this place. They take care of you from a welcome bag with matches, a little news paper to light the fire, a pen and a trash bag to keep your site clean! When you get to your site you will find a fire ring, picnic table, a place to hang your lantern, clear lot and depending on which one a place for a tent or trailer. Most site are for tents as it is a primitive place but they don’t discriminate against you trailer people:) Some of the site are full gravel most are only partial and they have places for groups big and small to camp near one another. Don’t buy fire wood near by by it at the cMp they sell a trash can full(about two nights worth) for ten buck!!! What a steal! Even though it’s primitive camp, at the main office they have several rest rooms all with clean!!! CLEAN showers(all low step accessible), CLEAN toilets, CLEAN sinks and did I mention they are air conditioned?!? WOW!!! And to boot they want all to have fun there is even a handicapable rest room as well. Now while the last part my not appeal to anyone, most know as I do it’s nice to have a clean place to do what ever your business is, with out 5k black flys bothering you and your nature! So if that takes away from your fun they have several our houses on the property for you 5k black fly experience. One other thing that makes it nice is the store, it’s got nicnacks and thingamabobs, chairs for camp fires and crafts to. Now all this said they have about 40+ sites and Most don’t have electricity or water(remember is primitive, but the RV sites and trailer sites do. I hope you will visit them and enjoy the happiness and hospitality I did.
