Meadows Original Frozen Custard

Meadows frozen custard is great. I’m a man who has had a lot of soft serve ice cream from a lot of different places. Maybe to some this goes without saying, but:
FROZEN CUSTARD IS DIFFERENT THAN SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM
And I’m going to say it’s better. It’s richer and thicker with a decidedly different flavor profile. And the Meadows churns it out all the time with their own signature mix. Besides the standard vanilla and chocolate they have two additional slots for several rotating flavors that are scheduled to appear throughout the month.
I’ve got a soft spot for pretzels and cream.
But I haven’t developed a taste for teaberry.
Their strawberry milkshakes are fantastic. And I really enjoy the chocolate malt. Although the grit of the malt powder does take away a bit from the silky texture of the custard.
Anyhow, this place is great. But this Bedford location in the strip mall is missing just a bit of the charm of the original one in Altoona. Still, it scratches the itch. And it’s a great place to celebrate after you’ve loaded the car with delicious local produce from the country store in the adjacent strip.
