My dad wanted steamed Maryland crabs for dinner last night so we went to Don’s. Now we are wishing we hadn’t. Worst crabs I’ve ever had! And I’m from Maryland! We got a dozen mediums. Most were extremely light and the ones that weren’t were bad and we couldn’t eat them. Then to top it off they were covered in mud. I thought I was eating old bay seasoning but after careful inspection my dad and I realized it was really mud. I was so disgusted. I will never go back there for crabs.

I have a crab problem. I’m a crabaholic. Admitting it is the first step, right? I get crabs at least once a week, even through the off season. On Monday, I called my usual crab spot, but they were sold out. I called my backup crab place, but they too were out of crabs. I remembered Dons, and thought«I haven’t had crabs from there since high school, I should give them a try!» I placed my order for 6 large with pickup at 7:30 pm. 1 star for witnessing them pulling crabs out of the steamer at 7:29. The place is a ghost town. Only the employees in the building. No crab joint is ever this empty in Maryland on a nice day! They place the bag on the counter, I pay up and I grab my crabs to head home. As soon as I picked up the bag, I noticed how light it was. I get out to my car, open the bag, and notice the size. The larges here were the same size as the dollar crabs up the road(small). Oh well, nothing is getting in between me and my crabs at this point. I get home and crack the first crab. Paper she’ll, super light, no picking required because it fell apart as I picked it. Second crab– that smell. If you eat crabs, you know what I’m talking about. Ammonia. Ew. Third crab, also ammonia. Go for my fourth and realize they gave me an extra crab. Any place that gives you extra crabs, knows something isn’t quite right with the others. I decided to stop eating. After so many rotten crabs, I figured it was in my best interest to just give up. Good thing I did stop, I spent the next twenty-four hours with what I think may have been food poisoning! I won’t return to Dons. I’ll keep ordering my crabs from my normal go-to and if they’re out, I’ll just have to be patient.

I came here with my Boo Boo’s family for their annual Maryland crab and Atlantic City road trip adventure. This is pretty much a market that sells everything you need to have a steam crab picnic. You don’t have to pay extra like tipping a server at a restaurant. This is the way to go for very fresh crabs. We also bought steamed shrimps. They very plump and flavorful. I wish they sold sides like hush puppies and bacon.

We paid $ 55.00 for medium crabs. They were hollow, mushy, smelly, and old. Some of the crabs had holes in the shells. These by far were the worse crabs I’ve had in a long time.

I have been going to Seafood Stop/Richards crabs for 17 years. in between have been to Don’s Crabs on an off season and wasn’t too impressed. Last night I ordered 1.5 dz extra large crabs from Don’s because lately all the Seafood Stop can offer are smalls or mediums and they’ve been poor to average at best. Don’s crabs were perfect. perfect to size, full, seasoned right, and DELICIOUS. I think they’ve won me over FORGOODTHISTIME! Seafood stop and Richards has gone down hill over the past year lacking consistency, shorting me on crabs and unable to keep the sizing accurate. THANKYOUDON’S CRABSFORPROVIDINGGREATSERVICE!

Crabs are great during summertime. I’ve never received any extra crabs in the bag. Staff young and friendly at times.

I had a great experience at this Don’s Crabs! Most of the crabs were full and a worker threw in a few extra crabs for us! Will come again!
