I didn’t grab any coffee here but a friend purchased a blueberry muffin and a Rice Krispie treat which he shared with me. All of their pastries and baked goods are made in house. Both were absolutely delicious. The blueberry muffin was one of the best I’ve ever had!

Recommended by friends of ours in the area, we were excited to check out this local gem during our time in Northern Michigan. Our first experience with the restaurant was when a young man ran out of the restaurant and chased us down the block to inform us that we had made an illegal turn out of the parking lot. Not being from the area, I didn’t realize that I had missed the«no right turn» sign and I felt like Gomer Pyle was yelling«citizen’s arrest, citizen’s arrest!!!» at me in the middle of Mayberry. After we entered the restaurant, he approached us again to tell us that we broke the law and was told by staff to leave us alone. We ordered the French dip and the chicken salad sandwich. The French dip was served on ciabatta bread that was fresh and crunchy… perfect for dipping in the au jus. The chicken salad had dried cherries and pecans(or walnuts?)… which would have been enough, but the bread was also smeared with a cherry preserve of some sort that was just a bit too much. I ate half of it and thought I would finish the leftovers later, but ended up throwing it away because it was just too tart. All in all, Moka is a sweet little bistro in a pretty town that I would try again if we were passing through… just don’t turn right from their parking lot on Main Street!
