Do not stay here!!! No hot water at 7am??? Im talking like not even remotely warm, ice cold! Rooms have a nasty smoke stench, mattresses are lumpy, I wouldn’t let my dog sleep on that bedspread let alone me sleep on it. Insane to think red roof would put their name on this slum!

We got to this place looking to sleep for 5 hours. First, the price advertised on the road is $ 50, but when we got here at 3AM, it was $ 65. Second, but most important, these have to be the filthiest rooms I’ve ever stayed at, ever. Both«non-smoking» rooms had been smoked in, and a fragrance had been sprayed to disguise the smell. There were cigarrette burn marks on the furniture and the blankets. One of the rooms had an UNflushed toilet and wads of toilet paper in the trash, and all of the light switches were sticky with a brown, very visible substance. The other room had a damp carpet and the bathroom fan was flowing backwards. Third, the beds were hard as bricks. If we had not been so tired we would have gone somewhere else.

Theoretically this Red Roof is non smoking, but… in practice it seems that most people smoke in the rooms anyway. It’s the third time I’ve been at this Red Roof and each time the room has been non-smoking but clearly smelled of smoke. You feel sorry for the people who clean the rooms and have to try to get the smell out, an impossible job! Other than that, it’s a nice hotel. Comfy, close to both fast food and sit down restuarants, around the corner from a dollar store and walmart. Staff are nice. Breakfast is a muffin, apple and bottle of water in a bag.

I arrived in Ann Arbor to find that my apartment’s office had different hours than were posted online, so I found myself without a place to stay. Time to find a last minute hotel! The Red Roof Inns in Ann Arbor were really expensive, but this one was still cheap and not too far, so my parents, my boyfriend, and I headed over. It appeared to be your typical Red Roof Inn, with lots of restaurants nearby, but inside was a bit different. First, there was somebody in my parents room when they go there. The office said nobody was staying in the room, but clearly somebody was. My parents were given a new room. In my room, part of the hinge-lock thing(what do you even call those? the things like a chain lock that hotels use…) was broken, which wasn’t really desirable. Part of the doorknob in the bathroom was missing. It was still functional, just strange. In my parents room, the mirror was dirty and there was a frosty left in the mini-fridge. The next afternoon, after checking out, I realized I had left my phone charger in the room. I called to ask if anybody had found it, but was told that the room had already been cleaned and that a charger hadn’t been found and that was that. I’m guessing the cleaning staff hadn’t noticed it because it was in a not-so-visible area, and the cleaning didn’t seem to be very thorough. So no phone charger for me… Now, I understand that you don’t expect luxury if you stay at a Red Roof Inn. I do appreciate that this one was cheaper than the ones actually in Ann Arbor, and in a similar situation, I’d probably stay here again. If prices were comparable, which I believe is normally the case, I’d stay in Ann Arbor without hesitation.

Good price, but that’s about all I can say. Room was completely untouched from previous customer. You get what you pay for.
