Was wanting to like it. Could not. Pulled pork was terribly dry, even loading it up with sauce did not help much. Ribs were the same. Dry. Much better local bbq options in town

Nothing negative to say, it just wasn’t for me. I got the«Lil Mo», that came with 4 ribs, and your choice of 3 meats(2oz portions). I got brisket, pork, and turkey. All the meats were smoked nicely, and had good flavor alone. All the sauces, and the pit beans were just to sweet for my palette. Based on other reviews they seem to be a hit with many, so I’m sure it’s just personal preference. I can see a return visit in the future, just not the first place that will come to my mind.

Awesome BBQ! The burnt ends were killer! The sauces are amazing and different from most BBQ! The Righteous Pig, Beer Bacon, and Peach Chipotle sauces were my favorites and unlike anything else I’ve had. The pit beans, in my opinion, were the best I’ve ever had. Something about them I just loved. Also the citrus cranberry slaw was seriously delicious. Normally I avoid slaw but something told me to try it and this time I definitely didn’t regret it. I will be back in the next time I’m in Belleville. And try the chocolate covered bacon! Different and tasty!

When you’re looking for excellent smoked meats, comfortable and laid back atmosphere, look to the Righteous Pig! While I’m a fan of the«Fat Larry», a custom designed platter of your favorite meats, and sides; you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I only gave it 5 Stars, because I couldn’t give them 6!

We ate here for the first time yesterday while visiting Art on the Square. We were drawn in by the wonderful smoky smell, the crowd, and the girl out front handing out tasty samples. I had the wings and the peachy barbeque sauce, and it was to-die-for fabulous. Its a must if you are in the downtown area.

Pretty tasty Smoked restaurant. I had the large Cuban, and it had smoked pork in addition to like sliced ham, very good!!! Loved the smoked flavor, and impressed it came from a local joint. Should be on diners drive ins and dives! Guy Fieri would go nuts with this place. My husband had the turkey sandwich, and that was great too. My favorite side was the Brussels sprouts, with a touch a smoked bacon, made it really appetizing. Had the bacon gooey butter cake, wasn’t my favorite, but my husband liked it. Definelty will come back and bring the family

Definitely made me step outside my box. I was expecting a more traditional type of barbecue like a sweet honey barbecue. They do have barbecue for every person’s taste … Just not the sweet honey barbecue I was expecting. Their house brand the righteous pig sauce had a very fruity taste to it. Once I was told it was Apple cinnamon, I really enjoyed it! I like the idea of having the barbecue sauces on the table and adding my own. It gave me an opportunity to sample the different sauces… An opportunity I would not have had if the meat had been cooked in the sauce itself. I got the small pulled pork barbecue sandwich minus the bun since I’m trying to watch my carbs. It came with two sides for eight dollars. I got the barbecue beans and the applesauce. The barbecue beans were a little on the hot spicy side for my taste. The applesauce had a very unique flavor to it. It was kind of hard to tell what that was. Very tart and tangy. Delicious! They have nice outdoor seating. The weather on the day I was there was absolutely gorgeous… Sunny and clear and a little bit on the cool side. They also offer a military discount which is a definite plus and brought my bill to under eight dollars. And of course the friendliness of the staff put this place over the top. I highly recommend this place! I will definitely be back.

Several issues with my visit today; Door was left open so they could service the outside tables so flies were our companions inside with them sitting atop the bbq sauce containers. Food was a bit pricey for lunchtime. If I go back, I would split the ribs or order a the medium sandwich and get an extra side for 2 people. Sandwich was served on a right out of the fridge cold bun. Ate the meat without the bun. Cuban meat was delicious! Hoping for a better visit next time.

Decent BBQ and sides. Awesome iced tea! I tried their BBQ turkey sandwich with slaw and baked beans. For the price, the portions were huge and definitely filling. I enjoyed have a large selection of sauces to try and though there wasn’t one that I thought was great, they all were unique and had good flavor. My only complaint is how sweet the baked beans were… they were good, but just a bit too sweet for my liking. The Righteous Pig has a huge menu so you have to stop by if you are in the mood for a quick BBQ sandwich.

I work a few blocks away, and unfortunately this is only my first time visiting. The service was excellent, and very knowledgeable about their menu. I highly recommend the baked potato salad. The beans were just a touch on the salty side. We had the ribs and pulled pork. Our favorite was the pulled pork. The sauces are available in a taste for anyone. You have spicy, sweet, fruity, and the all important bacon flavor. Get there early because they do run out of meats later on in the evening.

4 stars on my first visit, only because I’ve only tried one thing-But the pork belly pastrami is AWESOME! The suggestion to pair it with Bordeaux Mustard(grain mustard sauce) was excellent as well. Had beans and potatoes on the side-Beans a bit salty for my tastes, potato salad was good but nothing spectacular. I never freak out over sides in any BBQ place, really. Service was friendly, helpful, and fast. That pastrami is where it’s at! I’ll be back to try more things when I’m visiting my hometown.

It should be stated up front I’m a Texas style BBQ guy so this place really wasn’t my cup of tea. I ordered the turkey sandwich and my wife the brisket. The meat on both were sliced deli thin and without the sauce would have tasted the same way it was sliced. I found nothing overly BBQ about the BBQ — not smokey flavor not noticeable smoke ring etc. the prices caught me off guard 26 dollars for 2 sandwich meals and drinks. The sides were average at best and my wife said the potato salad while not bad was a little too drunk with mayo. It was a nice little joint with great customer service. Two stars were earned on the customer service and most importantly they served Pepsi. Overall not a terrible experience but just not our style.

Update 5÷5÷15 a person named scooter contacted me here’s the apology Scooter A: I just read your review. I guess you have never gone to a restaurant where they put condiments on table. I dont put sauce on the meat because i think it hides the flavor of the meat a real bbq ethusiast knows that. Sorry you didnt enjoy our little place, but reall you didnt get sick from the sauce being on table you just didnt like the way i aerved it. Thanks for the apology something from your restaurant made me sick ! I really do know I giving one stars but in this case it is deserved we went in the service was great the food tasted great but my father and I did get sick traditionally barbecue sauce is cooked on the meet but for some reason the Midwest has started a southern style barbecue of you put your own barbecue sauce on it and having several different types which results and barbecue sauce sitting out on tables for a long period of time then exposed to the elements so we got sick I’m sorry for the bad review. But please change the way you store and dispense the bbq said ce or just put it in the meat

9DOLLARS(without tax) FOR A «small» SANDWICH and ONE small SIDEDISH!!! So I go in(about 1pm on a Friday) and the place seems nice enough. Clean, friendly employees etc. Then I look at the menu. Most«small» orders(and by orders I mean sandwich and small cup of slaw or whatever) are 9 dollars and most large orders are 11 freaking dollars. So I get my food and I’m expecting a mountain of meat, I mean for a freaking 9 dollar sandwich there will be a HUGE pile of meat, right??? WRONG. It comes on a hamburger bun and the meat they give you is just enough to make a very small sandwich. The actual meat was good. I had quite a bit of fat in mine though. The side order was MEH. Maybe the lunch crowd from the courthouse doesn’t mind paying crazy high prices for small portions of meat, 1 side dish(about the amount of an ice cream scoop) and NO drink but count me out. There’s plenty of competition nearby. Did I mention this«small» meal was 9 dollars???

This was really one of those«Look honey a new BBQ place«stops. Walking up to it you could just smell it. Wonderful ! The décor was hip and clean. Old style picnic tables to sit at. If you have a sharpie around you can write on them, which is something you can’t do everyday . The service was top notch. The sauces, there are six of them that I saw. The hot one is hot. Let me repeat it is hot. I would have liked to see a mustard based one but that is my Carolina up bringing coming out . The food, hubby got the pulled pork, son got the brisket, youngest pork and me pulled chicken. All the meat is tender. You can see the smoke ring. To be honest you really don’t need sauce for it but it is really good with it. The potato salad is mayo based one. I could taste a hint of dill I think. Homemade. Very good. The slaw was a home run. I normally don’t like vinegar base slaw but this one is so good I might have to go back and get some more . All in all this is a place I will likely drive from Waterloo to Belleville for again.

My wife and I tried this place 2 weeks ago, and based off of other reviews I was ready to be blown away. Sadly that wasn’t the case. I ordered the rib and brisket combo and found the ribs to be fatty and tough. The brisket was sliced really thin and was fairly fatty too, just not what I was expecting. My wife had pulled pork and chicken, and both were much better than the meats I ordered. I enjoyed the baked beans and my wife liked the applesauce a lot. She seemed to think it was pretty much identical to the applesauce served at Bogart’s. I liked most of the sauces but the peach chipotle was my favorite. My wife was going with a Frankenstein concoction of two sauces. All in all it wasn’t a bad place, the staff was friendly and very helpful. I’d go back but wouldn’t order the ribs or brisket.
