My curiosity brought me to Tita’s Bakery last night, on my way to pick up dinner from Colombia BBQ. They stand side by side on Washington Avenue, so when I had noticed their doors open, I immediately had to go see and check them out. I’m no Guatemalan food expert so I wasn’t too familiar with the items in their shop. I had asked the young lady behind the counter to help me out and she was kind enough to answer my questions even though we weren’t able to fully understand each other. I saw a ton of Sweet Breads/Pan Dulce and had asked for a couple to try. 2 pan dulces for $ 1??? That’s an absolute steal in my book, and to be honest I would have paid more for them! They have a few savory snack items for sale, some cookies and cold beverages too. After visiting this place for the first time, I’m really curious to go back and try all the other baked goodies! From the looks of it, and correct me if my research is wrong, there seems to be champpuradas or lengua looking cookies for sale as well. I’m not really sure of their hours but I was able to walk in around 5:30pm on a Friday afternoon.
