Great service and awesome drinks. I had the in house ginger beer. It was so good, I had to get another! A few people had the Moscow Mule and were raving about it. The food was mediocre, nothing to rave about. The place is nice and cozy, and has a great ambience.

Came in for all day happy hour on Monday. The daily flatbread was delicious(meatballs and pepperoni) and the drinks are outstanding

My girlfriend and I met here for our monthly happy hour meet. Free parking can be found in the Ten20 underground parking garage(2 hours). Spaces are marked with numbers but are available to patrons of Bar Code for free for the first 2 hours. Happy Hour runs from 4pm-6pm daily. We were the first patrons here at 4pm and when we left at 6:30pm there were only an additional handful of customers seated at the bar. There is outdoor seating available with a heater provided to ward off the chill. We decided to sit indoors though. Indoors was a bit chilly but since we each had a light sweater to put on, the chill didn’t hinder our visit with each other. For our sips we each ordered a couple pours of the house red(a blend) for $ 5(hh). For our bites we ordered: Black & Blue Wedge Salad: blackened shrimp(qty 3), bleu cheese, bacon crumbles, tomato wedges and cucumber slices for $ 14. The salad was tasty and large enough for us to share. Dungeness Crab Cakes(qty 4): with chili aioli, corn salsa and green onion for $ 11(hh). The crab cakes were delectable and unfortunately each only the size of a quarter. Tandoori Chicken Skewers(qty 3): cucumber raita and mango curry for $ 6(hh). The skewer that my girlfriend ate was delish; however, the remaining two skewers were still partially frozen and crunchy to the bite. Needless to say, they were not eaten and wasted. Mini Hard Shell Tacos(qty 4): with cilantro lime crema, pico de gallo, cabbage and Pulled Pork for $ 9(hh). The description of «mini» is a true statement. The tacos were cute but so ridiculously small that one couldn’t really taste the filling. Overall, the staff was friendly. The food is extremely overpriced and geared towards presentation rather than fulfillment. As always, we each enjoyed our monthly visit with each other.

Awesome, I had a very rough day, bar code made it better, they have a «discounted rotating tiki style cocktail meme» really, it’s laura’s grog, whatever she feels like, her creativity behind the bar is incredible! So make tuesdays better, stop by the bar code and ask for laura’s grog, you won’t be disappointed!

We were there 3 hours and the fastest service we got was 2 drinks each plus 1 sandwich. 7−10pm 60% occupancy. Food was just okay and drinks were solid but the staff seemed new and bartender didn’t know special pricing on whiskey specials.

Don’t believe the check in offer. It says free Happy Hour plate. But they don’t honor it. Only let’s you get a bar snack.

Met at Barcode for happy hour on a Thursday after work. Ambiance was good for a casual meeting where you can actually have a conversation with the other person. Moscow Mule was a great blend of ginger spicy. Service however was lackluster. One server for the entire bar. Even though there were maybe ten other people in there the server showed little attention and didn’t seem to enjoy anything. A big negative was we tried Barcode because of the Unilocal check-in offer of a free small plate. When we tried to use it we were told that if we used the deal we couldn’t get our drinks on happy hour prices! It was one deal or the other. I think they know that you won’t be coming back anyway so why actually follow through with their promise. I know I won’t be going back!

Blown away by not only the bacon wrapped meatloaf, the amazing Cabernet to accompany it, but also the bartender to accompany my friends and I. I’ll definitely Be visiting again! Thaaaaaanks Noahhh!

Came here late for drinks. The cocktails were totally unique to me. Whiskey sour with shaken egg whites? Awesome. Tried three different drinks and all three were great. The bar is pretty hidden off the main bellevue drag but it’s definitely worth checking out.

I really wanted to like this place, especially since the 2 previous bars in this space were quite terrible. We enjoyed our drinks the first visit(Feb 2014), but had a very difference experience recently(Dec 2014). The specialty cocktails were hit or miss. I loved the hot buttered bourbon and my partner liked the good, the bad & the ugly, but the cacharetto sour was too sweet and the egg white wasn’t incorporated enough(barely any foam). The manhattan was awful — tasted overwhelmingly like bitters. I’m not picky, but I could barely finish it. I think there was a new bartender that night(he spilled 2 shakers), so this may be atypical. We enjoyed the mac and cheese with bacon(free Happy Hour bite with first Unilocal check-in, even when not during happy hour!). Not very lively on a Friday night around 9pm and service was extremely slow.

It’s just ok here. I would come here for drinks. They get it right. My Moscow mule was great. I found the food to be bland and boring. Pork sliders with a pretzel bun. I love the idea of the pretzel bun. The pork was underwhelming, oversauced(the flavor should be in the meat), and the there needs to be more pork for the size of the bun. Truffle popcorn, needs more truffle for sure. We’re paying for popcorn people… Flatbread…so terrible. I would never recommend it here. And we convinced others to pass on it when they asked our opinion. Roasted chicken skewers: very dry Bottom line: eat elsewhere and come for the drinks!

Was waiting for a few weeks for a good opportunity to come visit Bar Code. When a client contacted me to meet for happy hour I recommended to meet at bar code to check it out. Didn’t get the opportunity. Arrived at bar at 3:15pm. Walked into restaurant and was told they didn’t open until 4. I asked whether I can sit at their tables outside while I waited. A very unfriendly Waitress told me I can sit there but will have to move when they set up outside. That was fine. I sat outside and a second waitress asked me to allow her to set up. So I packed my things and sat on the ledge near the perimeter of their outside seating hardly in their way. A few minutes later the first waitress came out and asked me in the rudest tone to move as if I was completely in their way. It took them all but 2 minutes to finish setting up and there was no table set up where I was standing, not sure why they felt as if I was such a big burden. Why was it so hard to invite me to sit down at a table that was already set up? They knew I was going to be a customer that evening. Or ask me in a polite tone that they weren’t seating until exactly four and respectfully ask me to wait a bit longer. There were absolutely no other customers at the time. To be fair, I have to give it at least a two stars for ambiance and cleanliness. When I came in to let them know how unsatisfied I was, instead of apologizing for their poor service a male server replied«well next time try coming in while we are open» Open or not, you should still treat all potential customers with good service and a level of respect, especially since it was only ten more minutes before the doors officially opened. I truly hope the food is better than the service but now I wouldn’t ever know.

I like Bar Code. It really is a great spot for the cocktail and whiskey purists out there. I think one aspect that makes it worth returning to is the fact that they get away from the stereotypical Bellevue drink menu with sugar, vodka, blue curacao, and more sugar in every drink. Bellevue cocktails are synonymous with diabetes(I’m looking at you, Pearl and Blue Martini), but thankfully, not at Bar Code. The bartender knew her way around whiskey and was able to make good recommendations from the extensive whiskey menu. I’ve come here a handful of times and have generally found that the drinks to be well done. The happy hour drinks are poured with a fairly light hand, but the drinks on the regular menu will have you feeling pretty soused. And half price Whiskey Wednesday is a bargain and a half. It’s enough to get me to drive down to Bellevue all the way from Mukilteo after work on a particularly tiresome hump day. When I’ve been here(usually early evening, around dinner time), the crowd is fairly sparse and tends to be more in the late 30 to early 40-something demographic with more than a few Microsoft developers. You may feel a little too young if you’re a 20-something, like me. I wasn’t a huge fan of the few food items I’ve tried there. The menu is heavily inclined toward small bar bites rather than dinner-sized portions and I don’t think it competes with some of the other places around Bellevue as far as tapas go. The prices aren’t too bad, but I just haven’t had anything that made me think, «Man, I really gotta go back to get that again!» That being said, I think the management here really cares about putting out a quality product for the clientele. You can tell simply by noticing that the owner comments on several of the reviews written on this page! I think in the long term, the less-than-inspiring food menu will be corrected. In the short term, I’ll definitely come back for the cocktails and the whiskey!

The drinks and staff are truly amazing. A true mixologist’s establishment. The staff is knowledgable and is willing to walk you through each drink. The interior has clean, simple lines with a warm green color palette. I’ve read some posts in which the Unilocaler had complaints about the bar’s food selection. First, this is a BAR, not a restaurant with a bar in it. Therefore, the food selection will be limited. Don’t go here to have dinner. Go here to have great drinks and perhaps a tasty snack with your drinks.

Bar code. I wanted to like you! But I’m sorry, I can only give you 2 stars. Let me explain why. My friend I came here on a sunny afternoon around 5:30pm right around their happy hour. The place is super clean, chic and has a modern look which I liked. My friend and I stood there for like good 2 minute not knowing whether to seat myself or to be seated. We ended up just seating ourselves –_-. The waiter swung by after sometime informing us that Monday is all day happy hour! yay! That surely made me happy. Oh ALSO, CHECKINTOGETFREEHAPPYHOURPLATE! That was one of the reasons why we decided to go to this place was the fact that it had a check in deal. I showed the waiter, he seemed kind of puzzled but took the offer in a friendly manner. We ordered the queso with tortilla chips, mixed green salad, and build your own pizza with mushroom and sausages. Sigh, the food was unfortunately disappointing. The queso was like nacho cheese from the can, and on top they just chopped up some red onions and canned olives. The chips were literally Fritolay. No bueno. Mixed Green Salad was actually my favorite thing that we got. Fresh salad, sweet vinaigrette dressing, baby tomatoes and that was pretty much it. Pizza? Standard, kind of luke-warm, was not impressed what-so-ever. Prices? It wasn’t expensive, but it was not worth what you’re paying for. I would never pay $ 7 for this kind of pizza, $ 6 for this kind of chip and dip, and maybe pay $ 5 for this kind of salad. I wanted to like you barcode… I did. but I’m sorry the food just didn’t do it for me. And also, the water glasses were dirty, so we asked the waiter to exchanged it. He did. Guess what? It was still dirty with stains. hm… TLDR: Friendly staff, clean restaurant but food quality was not impressive.

Thumbs up for a good location with ample parking, the La Diabla cocktail and friendly service. The crabcake appetizer was a fantastic fusion of spicy and sweet– definitely 5 star! What was disappointing was, while our waiter was friendly, he got one of our orders wrong. And the other thing was the Butternut & Sage flatbread fell flat on taste and substance. It was rather dry and except for the bacon I couldn’t taste any of its key ingredients. At $ 12 I wouldn’t order it again. I realize Bar Code is still finding its legs and I love to support local businesses, therefore I’ll give another chance.

5 stars for the cocktails! Overall 3 stars for the following reason… Atmosphere — I wanted to walk in here and feel like the environment matched the cocktails, they don’t. The lime green walls, giant TV monitors, white couches, stainless steel bar and weird way the space is divided just doesn’t make me want to stay and drink fine craft cocktails @ $ 10– $ 15 a drink. I really wish they would have made this place a classy, speakeasy feeling(something we are missing on the Eastside) — dark and mysterious rather than café meets sports bar meets amazing cocktails. My cocktail was really lovely.

Decent Ambience: 4 Food: 3 Drinks: 3 Value: 3 Alas, another brave soul is trying the 100 building space; this time, it’s a ‘spirit bar’ /‘speak easy’ called Bar Code. The outcome, I suspect, will be the same as its departed predecessors. a nice try, but no dice. The drinks and happy hour foods were decent, but not spectacular. The pizza was okay, the salad was okay, the cocktails were decent, but felt a bit watered down. The prices, however… were lofty. So here we stand. A space that is probably pretty expensive, a location that doesn’t get much foot traffic(too far away from Lincoln square), not a great recipe for success.

Bar Code? Bar code… BARCODE! I get it now. First off this bar is green. As in the color. It was very green. Maybe I just don’t vibe well with that color but it was a little bright for my taste. The high backed booth I sat is was uncomfortable, but I have the proportions of R2D2 with legs, so again it could be me. The service was fine. It took a few minutes to get noticed in a relatively empty place but there was a large group that seemed to need a lot of attention. Once it got rolling our waitress was on point. We chose to come here for Whiskey Wednesday. Half off all whiskey. Killer deal. I got down on some Four Roses Single Barrel for $ 6 and some Suntory Hakushu for $ 7. Steals. My buddy ordered a happy hour manhattan. It tasted vermouthed down. But for $ 6 you get what you pay for. The food we ordered was all forgettable. Queso dip, truffle popcorn, and crab cakes. $ 12 for the crab cakes was a stretch. But for some reason all my food had a discount too so I can’t complain. I didn’t try any of the cocktails. They sounded excellent. Exotic ingredients that were used to spice up classic cocktails. I will come back at some point. And I will try the cocktails. I admire all of the homemade ingredients used in them. There is another start to be eked out if they taste as good as they sound.

If you are able to nab one of the top bartenders in the country you sir, deserve kudos. Evan Martin named one of the top mixologist in the country in 2009, currently resides here at BarCode Bellevue. At first glance, you are not sure what it is. But take a seat and have Evan make you something nice. And I will guarantee it will be nice. His drinks are slightly speakeasy with a modern flair. I have been here twice, I have very happy each time I have went. Their food menu gives variety to bar food anyone to munch on with others or to simply gorge your face to yourself. If you do go to BarCode, go with an open mind and let the bartender make you something nice.
