You ever love walking into a store and going, «Wow! What is this place!» Like little elves have made their way through your brain, sprinkling happiness dust wherever they go. That’s how I felt when I walked into Hilde’s Gallery. Now, I’m usually a fan of an art gallery, but in the way that I walk in, look at a few paintings, go, «Hmmmm,» and then walk out. I’m not there to buy, I’m just there to stare. So I didn’t really have the highest of expectations when walking in here. How wrong I was! Hilde’s Gallery(after artist/owner Tyler Hildebrand) is awesome! It’s filled with amazing works featuring pop-culture icons(Christopher Walken, The Dude!) and Cincinnati landmarks(and not just things like Fountain Square but stuff like Schwartz’s Point. Stuff with real soul.) They’re all beautiful too — brightly colored, weird, awesome. The prices for these paintings are fantastic. They very from piece to piece but all very affordable. I ended up picking up a framed print for $ 20 and I love it. It is right now hanging on my wall behind me. To top it all off, Tyler himself is a wicked nice guy. I chatted with him a bit about the paintings and he’s easy and fun to talk to. Have a question about his art — ask him, he’ll be glad to help. An awesome sport for loves of art, movies, music, and Cincinnati. A hidden gem for sure.

Looking for some unique artwork to add to your home? Hilde’s features all genres and styles of pop culture paintings combining celebrities and Cincinnati landmarks. Named after the owner and artist, Tyler Hildebrand, this shop has something for everyone, especially urbanites in search of community décor. I loved the different mediums used to create the portraits: a scene of Newport’s Monmouth Street was painted on a large slab of cardboard. There was also art on old auto parts and luggage! Some of the icons you can find here: — Bellevue cityscapes — Cincinnati and OTR cityscapes — Newport cityscapes — Forrest Gump — The Dude from Big Lebowski — Cincinnati Reds players — Cookie Monster in rehab — The View ladies — Johnny Cash — Jay-Z — Jack Nicholson — Lady Gaga …and many more! There’s even a painting of Avtar Gill, the local man who walks around Downtown with the giant posterboard hat: The artwork comes in all sizes, from 12×12 portraits to posters to giant canvases. You’ll find something here that’s the perfect size for your wall. If not, they have a variety of tee shirt prints as well. Prices vary based on the piece, but they all seem very reasonable. Definitely check out Hilde’s for some of Cincinnati’s finest pop art!

Very interesting, upbeat gallery featuring the artwork of Cincinnati artist Tyler Hildebrand. His unique art features city scenes, as well as portraits of celebrities, sports figures, musicians, actors, etc. The shop sells prints, sculptures, T-shirts and even a car hood featuring his work! Some of his paintings are on cardboard, then framed. As soon as you enter you see a sculpture of country music crooner Johnny Cash. The gallery window displays some of his humorous takes on the Bengals and the hosts of television talk show«The View.»
