Simply amazing says the Seattle bakery king. Having visited lots of bakery in my time, the treats that Jennifer L.‘s serves as UYE meal enders are one of the highly anticipated parts of the event. Really lucky to have Jen as part of the Seattle Unilocal community. In addition to hosting UYEs, I like that she has high standards about serving only the very best baked goodies. All of the goodies I have tried have been yummers. But OMG about the tart I tried at the DTF event. So good and the crust rocks! So see for yourself and attend a UYE to see for yourself. Oh and make sure to bring the moolah.

Our own sweet tooth fairy over in Bellevue… I am not sure where she comes up with these decadent creations. I think her building should be re-zoned as a professional commercial bakery. Post every UYE hosted there is a cache of these goodies waiting for us. It pays to bring cash! The goods I can remember: Jenni L’s ‘Oreos’: some much better and with character than the regular old one’s you get wrapped in plastic! berry tart: Oh lordy! summer in tart! Jenni L ‘peanut butter cups’- again, better than the factory made stuff Unilocal chocolate chipcookie– what can I say, CC cookies with Unilocal on it. Choco-balls– please avoid the snickering. They were GOOD. Jenni L’s Taiwanese rice crispee treats– it tastes better cuz its wrapped with a pink bow hmm…thats all I can remember right now. Come to the UYE so you too can have some!

I hesitate to write this review for I wonder if I can write with the amount of eloquence that this experience deserves. Hense, I will write humbly with careful choosing of my words in attempts to shine my candle light to what people may be the sweetest and brightest moments of peoples week. Open your mouth at the UYE events and when JL gives out treats. There is a moment, the moment being the nano second where the baked good and the taste buds on our tongue meet for an awaking where it deserves it own standing ovation. It has been postulated that our tongue is able to detect five(known) elements of taste perception: salty, sour, bitter, sweet, and savory(or umami). Well that’s just a simple postuation and I now call BS on that theory and the guy who wrote the first article in WWI was wrong. I state that there is now 6th sense or taste that not only our tongue but everypart of our body to include the soft palate, hard palate, valecula, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and down to our soul taste the 8th wonder of the world. Anatomically it is only the cranial nerves IX and X that may perceive taste she JL has some how transended this biological devide. What is the secret? Is it the ungodly amount ingredients that may come together at the whee hours of the night? I sometimes start to wonder if this may be it’s own craftery and she bakes at night to battle away the evil spirts. Well having witnessed it myself, i can honestly echo what has been echoed in previous reviewers(awesome reviews by the way) that the secret ingredient seems to be the JL Love. Her love for baking, sharing her talent, and what is good in this world has seem to have communicated to everybody who has ever been graced by her presense. So I say to you Unilocalers out there, come one come all to a UYE not only to try the different restaurant that host the events but, for a little medicine called Jennifer L’s dessert in your life that may cause you to view this world with the side effects of little sweeter perception. I add… happy hour? always!!!

Jenni is one of the only bakers I would trust with my awesome bakery concept(when we take off with it y’all are gonna give us 5-stars out the heezy). She’s just that good. And all her baking accessories are ADORABLE. As if the food weren’t good enough, Jenni herself is the sweetest. If I could give a googolplex worth of stars for JL and her mad baking skillz I totally would. Re: Customer service — it’s the best… Particularly because we can communicate solely through«OMG» «I KNOW» and«GUGHGHHG» and still have a pretty decent conversation. And I end up full of delicious. Win win, in my book.

I don’t even consider myself having much of a sweet tooth, but the right treat will break me more easily than a Pinto’s fuel tank. Jennifer is ripe with confectionery talent. Everything of hers that I’ve had has been resplendent. She will literally work through the night to bring sweet delight to her guests. The coup de grace may have come last night upon trying her gingersnap-mascarpone berry tart. Self critical as all accomplished practitioners are, she described it as «crumbly.» So would I. No, I’m kidding. It was transcendent. The sweetness of the berries and mascarpone was balanced by the ginger perfectly. And – AND – it was served on a circle of cardboard«which to put beneath.’ Like real professional and stuff. It only makes sense that someone filled with sweetness makes such delectable sweets. Quoth Neil Young, «Keep on bakin’ in the free world!» In answering the survey questions that Unilocal presents when writing a review, I must say that she has a full bar, is wheelchair-accessible, is good for groups, but I’m not sure whether she accepts credit cards, because she’s always going on about«CASH! PLEASEBRINGCASH!»

Not only is Jennifer L deee-lovely, her baked goods are deeee-licious! She makes Unilocal sweet, both literally and figuratively! Now that I’ve moved out of Seattle, UYEs just don’t feel the same without Jenni’s cute smile and her yummy treats!

Alright, must I be THAT person that says I’ve had better? … haha yeah right, who am I kidding — Jenni’s baked goods are LEGENDARY! Of particular noteworthy mention are her smore brownies and just about any sort of tart this little bundle of joy makes. Caution: Side effects may include, but are not limited to, a state of extreme hyperactive giddiness, intense drooling, and physical dependency when consumed over prolonged periods of time.

Oh. My. Lordy. Here’s the deal. There are only a certain few people in my life who take the time, energy, zeal, and MAGIC to put into what they are most passionate about. Jennifer L= passionate about«baking with love» Evidence of this claim: + knowing most the 24 hour grocery store employees in her hood by face(by name would be creepy) + having an extensive knowledge of where to buy ANYTHING related to her baking fetish + even finding the cardboard rounds«of which to put beneath» +(insert update«of which I will decipher on more UYE’s») Jennifer L is hand down the MOST qualified bake-tress to ever enter into my sugar-driven life. Of that… I am grateful. It’s amazing how much good can come from one tiny little asian! I swear you can actually TASTE the love that comes from every one of her concoctions. Even the grumpy Scrooge who say BAH humbug! to sweets could be swayed. My list of orgasmic experiences(oooOooo la la!) + chocolate chip morsel infused cookies + homemade oreos!!!(ask Naurry!) + peanut butter cups *droool* + chocolate, chocolate soft centered crazy addictive cookies??? +($ 50-worth) multi-berry tart with FRESH produce and mascarpone +($ 49-worth) strawberry-rhubarb pie!(crust to DIE for) Yup. Will be back. With many updates. Love this girl.

While the way to my heart is through my tummy, it has to have a highly successful pass by the tastebuds first, and the stuff that Jennifer brings me makes them light up like a pinball machine that’s almost about to tilt! Oh, Jen and your wonderful baked goods, they confirm my suspicions that you are some kind of sugar-fueled angel sent to make all of our Unilocaling lives sweeter. It would be enough that you just were, funny, smart, irreverant, hot beyond belief, sweet, charming, über-intelligent and all of the other adjectives I’ve got but then your baking is like the cherry on the sundae, the icing on the cake, the sprinkles on the cookie… it’s almost too much to take in such a small package!
