Sharkey’s Cuts For Kids

Sharkey’s is the best! My daughter had her birthday party there with 8 girls. They had a blast with the hair, make up and nails. There was a fashion show and also Minecraft to keep them entertained during their sessions. The owner took care of EVERYTHING from providing Pizza, drinks, plates, napkins, and more. Awesome experience with Grace this past weekend! My son normally hates haircuts — well, no more! Grace was so patient with him and did such a great job with her special scissor cut. She even sang to him to relax him, and he is already asking when he gets to go see «Miss Grace» again… I plan to let her cut my hair next time too.

I took my 2.5 year old daughter here for her first haircut. She was very excited about the experience. The service was fine although the facility was dingy and dirty. Her haircut is TERRIBLE. I asked for her long hair to be trimmed. She ended up with a very, very short, layered old school bowl cut. I’m so disappointed. Terrible, terrible haircut that will take a long time to grow out.

We went there yesterday for the first time because our regular hair dresser was already booked. We wanted to have our son’s hair cut like the photo in the album shared via link below and we showed it to the hairdresser. The result was worse than dissapointing. I am attaching resulting hair cut as well. We had to trim and fix sides by ourselves even after we got home. I paid 30 $ to have this haircut. I know the place is fancy and cool but what I expect from a hairdresser is hairdressing. Now, I have to book another appointment from our regular to fix this thing.

If you have a child over 5 and don’t enjoy listening to babies scream, you may want to look elsewhere. The environment is very chaotic, loud, with very bright-​neon colors on the wall. Not a soothing place to be and very few places for parents to sit down.
They were 15 mins late and we got to listen to babies screaming their heads off while we waited. It took a few minutes for someone to even greet us. It was no wonder those baby girls were screaming, because when we saw their haircut they were shaved bald. We also were subjected to witness a women strip her toddler down naked and change his diaper right on the service floor. Gross! The staff said nothing to her even though there was a family mall restroom just around the corner from the salon.
The service was rushed and they pulled hard on my daughter’s hair in the hurry to be done with us and on to the next service. The cut style came out ok but it was shorter than we asked for and a bit uneven in back. They did paint her nails and give glitter, which she appreciated, but not enough to make up for the rest of the horrible experience. Not what we expected for a $ 30+tip salon cut.
Overall a terrible experience. I literally had a headache when we left there.

I called in yesterday to make an appointment and I asked if this is the sharkys at the mall as I need to make an appointment. The lady said no but I can help you. So I assumed she is making the appointment at the bellevue mall.
Today I went there n there was no appointment. The lady at the front desk had no customer service etiquette. A simple «there has been a misunderstanding let’s see try to accommodate you. «would have sufficed. Instead the argument that no I did not make the appointment n my colleague could not have done that. Lady are you seriously in customer service. Pathetic. No respect for other people’s time and forget about courtesies.

We took my one year old son in for his 1^st haircut. Jessica was his hair stylist and she did an excellent job !
Lots of distraction options which is excellent for toddlers !
We will def. be coming back :)

My son has ASD and no one can touch his hair without an emotional meltdown, except for Tomarra, she was so wonderful and patient with him, she spent hours cutting his hair, went at his pace, expertly distracted him, made it so that he actually enjoyed his haircut for the first time ever, if I won the lottery I would make her his full time haircare specialist!!! And I don’t understand the bad reviews on here, these hair stylists are doing Gods’ work I swear, I can’t imagine being able to deal with crazy kids who don’t want to get haircuts for twelve hours a day so good job Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids, and especially Tomarra you are the best!!!

We love Sharkey’s at the Bellevue Square Mall! We recently moved here from the Bay Area and struggled to find a place until Sharkey’s opened.
Tomarra has cut my son’s hair twice now, and each time, she’s able to get a wiggly, almost 3 year old to cooperate and actually enjoy the experience. She made him smile right away, and got him entertained by bubbles, toys, TV, talking to him, etc. You can choose from a Frozen themed Car, Lightning McQueen Car, Barbie Jeep, and a SWAT car. He leaves with a balloon, a lollipop, and a very handsome haircut.
Highly recommended! Everyone else that works there is super nice. Also, online booking for appointments makes scheduling so easy. So happy to have found this place.

My baby got scared of the clippers so he cried until the end but Jessica was very patient and did a great job with my son’s haircut. Definitely coming back again for his next cut!!!

The experience with my 23 month old son over the weekend prompted me to sign up for Unilocal so I can leave this review.
We were treated like a number and my son is now going to be forever scared of getting a haircut.
Whether you are a child haircut expert or not, what kind of person starts out a first time haircut for a two year old with a buzzer on the crying kid’s head? Is that how they do it in the army??? I was under the assumption that they will go slowly and get him more comfortable with the setting first before even cutting one strain of hair. My son was crying the whole time and she just told me to hold him tight so he doesn’t get a bald spot. She was more interested in just getting the haircut done and over with than giving him a positive experience for the first time. Yes, the Netflix was on, and yes the car was there, but the hype of this place ended there. No regards to the child’s experience what-​so-​ever.
Now my son will freak at the sight or sound of a buzzer or scissors. I am now in search of a place that will hopefully be able to reverse this experience for my son, and I will not set a foot in this place ever again!

I’ve always liked taking my boys to Sharkey’s for their haircuts, so I was glad to know that Seattle had a couple of locations to choose from since I have just moved to the area. The prices here are higher than at the previous location I went to before moving, but that’s to be expected because well — it’s Seattle.
The service was incredibly warm and accommodating, which was a nice change since many chain establishments tend to be a bit colder. The front desk person (and maybe owner?) took the time to blow bubbles and entertain my son while we waited for our stylist to arrive. My older son really loved that they had a Lightning McQueen car for him to sit in while getting his haircut (hell, I’m sure I’d enjoy having some entertainment during my haircuts too!).
Both cuts turned out great and both stylists were patient and kind to my children. I’ll be returning for sure!

Not only we’ve tried this place THREE times with worse results every time, but, last attempt, when their hairdresser messed up SO BAD that I went back to get my money refunded, I had the manager say that her employee complained about my kid «not ever stopping moving». Is THAT why we’re paying $ 30?!? To get them to badmouth kids for being kids?!? You know what they should do? NOT deal with kids! That’s what. Go to Crossroads. They’re amazing professionals and Sharkey’s Kids Bellevue Square deserves a slow and painful death. Unless you AND your children like being treated poorly. In this case, by all means, go to Bellevue Square’s Sharkey’s. Your kid will be the joke of their school until their hair grows back.

Two stars seems harsh, but I have definitely experienced better for what we get done. For my 23 month old, it was just ok. I would say about the same as Super Cuts for adults. The stylist was very friendly, but compared to where we usually go, this place did not compare at all. It could have been the day, and you might think this is all normal, but it just wasn’t for us. We’ll stick with Brat Pack Salon.
Pros:
–Took us as a walk-​in
–Had cars to sit in, which was fun
–Can watch Netflix while getting a hair cut
Cons:
–No toys to play with while waiting or while getting hair cut. Other places offer this which is really helpful.
–The stylist didn’t know how to work Netflix so it took a while.
–I watched another stylist use clippers on a kid in front of us and she was leaving various thin spots on the back of his head! It was bad.
–The hair cut took longer than usual. Much longer.
–I wouldn’t say his hair cut was awful. I would just say it wasn’t good. It looked like I did it myself.
–The stylist was very nice, but didn’t engage my son at all. She started spraying water all over his head without acknowledging him. He didn’t like all that water in his face, and the place where we usually go does a great job keeping his attention off of that… or they spray it close to his head, not on his face.
–He left with hair all over him. She tried to get it off, but it was plastered to every inch of his clothes. I don’t think the area was clean from the last client very well. He even had hair stuck to his face.

Jessica and staff were miracle workers dealing with not only de-​tangling curly bedhead hair, but a super wiggly kiddo. It was his first haircut ever, and he was hesitant and a bit scared, but the staff’s energy put him at ease.

So glad they came to Bell Square! I’ve done the Bratz one in Redmond and the kid salon at Crossroads: This one is my favorite of the three (although I thought the other places had great employees and services). However, they really went above and beyond. The chairs are far enough apart where the kid can easily watch TV. They have an actual «salon» area which is chic and cute and great for slightly older kids. They even gave my daughter a little mani for free!

It was so great to hear they opened up another place in the mall for kids haircuts. They got us in quickly and they were fast!
My daughter ate it up, she absolutely loved the whole experience! Sparkles in her hair, nails done?!? What couldn’t she love!
The stylist was super chill and so kind and patient with my daughter!
The extra nice thing about the place is that they also had something for my son to do. He was able to watch ninjago on one of their extra tvs!
Yeah! I’m so happy!

Only been once but way better haircut than the glorified super cuts caliber people that used to work this spot.

About $ 30 but was my 6 year olds best hair cut (curly hair) and pain free

Finally a clean, trendy, fun spot for kids of all ages to get their haircuts. Jessica our stylist today transformed my son’s butchered hair cut into a work of art. Our dapper dude is all ready for preschool. Thanks Jessica! We definitely will be back. Great products too!!!

Love that there’s finally a kids cut option at Bellevue Square again. I used to take my kid to a cheap place, but lesson learned. Tears, screaming and a couple of bad cuts later, I’ve found It’s worth it to go to the kids cut professionals. They have videos, and numerous car chairs. Also Xbox 360s that my kid didn’t play with, but dad did.
