Spring is the new restaurant taking over this location. It’s Chinese owners that does Chinese food but also wanted Japanese side to the place. It makes a huge menu and very hard to choose what food you want to eat that day if you can’t make up your mind. The space is huge, bar to the left, sushi bar to right, and the rest open space with tables or booths to dine there. I had a business meeting here for a party of three. No one greeted us when we came through the door and we just sat ourselves. I think the bartender was our waiter and server at the same time. I notice tables with finished dishes that wasn’t bus yet so I knew the space was too great for the staff. I keep hearing about the awesome lunch combos. I ordered the combo for $ 8.95 that came with a lot of food. It was little confusing because you had to pick one in section A and two in section B which end up being salmon roll(4 piece), chicken katsu, grilled sake salmon, salad, miso soup and bowl of rice. We also ordered an extra California rolls. The timing was so off, we had to wait 25 mins and everything came at the same time. It all came in individual plates or bowls on one big tray… it felt like a deconstructive bento box or ghetto version. The rolls was just okay. The salmon was pretty good. The tomatoes in my salad was too mushy and needed more dressing. I really like the chicken katsu, probably my favorite of everything. I just thought it came with too much rice and lettuce. Overall it still was an awesome deal for the combos at $ 8.95 but the waiting 25mins just for the food could be a problem with workers only having a hour to eat for lunch. I heard Spring does hotpot here too. I think they have some things to work out here but nothing that wow me, just an okay lunch that got the job done. I wouldn’t mind coming back because it has a huge parking space great for business meetings.

I live across the street from the restaurant, so we gave it a shot one night. As some mentioned in their reviews, I expected a lot more before arriving this place. First impression of walking into the restaurant… very dingy. I almost wanted to leave right away, maybe its décor, or lighting… or something was not giving a good vibe. My husband mentioned that men’s restroom was disgusting, and that alone was a good enough reason for me to leave if I wasn’t starving. I was too scared to order sushi, so we stuck with Chinese food. We ordered smoked ham fried rice, Mongolian beef, and vegetable and mushrooms. I have to say, it was not bad. I might have had a better experience ordering the food to go. To end the review on a positive note, they do have very nice waiters! :)

Spring is now my favorite sushi place in the Seattle area! Well, they were until they closed. The service here is incredibly friendly and attentive. During our first visit, the itamae chatted us up while we sat at the bar. I told him about my favorite sushi roll from a place in Austin, and he told me he would make it for me the next time I came in. I would have requested him to make it for me immediately, but I had already ordered two rolls. The next time I showed up, I put in a special request. True to his word, he made it just as I requested! It wasn’t exactly like the roll I had previously had, but I think he will be able to perfect it once I give him a little more direction. This place can satisfy the appetites of all variations of sushi fans — from the traditional style to the Americanized rolls. Personally, I am a fan of Americanized rolls. Sue me. I have ordered a few of their rolls, and I have always been very pleased! Their presentation is gorgeous!

I went here for lunch with coworkers and was expecting great food since the majority of Unilocal reviews were very positive. So, I’m more compelled to post this review since my experience at Spring was not stellar. Maybe they have«off» times as this was DEFINITELY one of those days. The staff did not seem sure in what they needed to do. We ordered a meal somewhat timely but I had noticed the person who took our order had been waiting and fidgeting while we were trying to get her attention. One of our 6 orders was from the Chinese menu and the rest from the Japanese side. The server came out with 5 soups rather than 6. The Chinese meal came out relatively quick but the rest of the meals were very slow in getting out, especially the order for katsu curry which I almost ordered. My coworker had to munch on salad while the rest of us had huge plates of food at the table. The food itself was ok. I had a chicken teriyaki and tempura combo(where I actually ordered the chicken katsu). You apparently cannot order one item from Group A and an item from Group B. It’s 2 items from either group. She didn’t mentioned this and I think it was probably she didn’t understand me or simply changed my order. The teri chicken was a bit hard so it was just edible and the tempura was just ok. The worst was the side salad and the sauteed vegetables that come with the meal — they tasted like they had been sitting out waiting to be plated for a while. The one rather tasty part was the sushi roll that came with it. It was yummy but I can’t say it wasn’t because I used my coworkers smidge of wasabi as well as my own in the soy sauce. The meal was pretty big and everyone in my group was full. It again took a while to get our check. It seemed pretty busy but we were there before the rush of people so that shouldn’t have been the reason for the lack in service. I would come back again to give it another shot since this is very close to work but if the service remains the way it was on this day and the food isn’t really better, I know I don’t have far to go for better options.

Came here for lunch, maybe I came in a bad time service although very nice and polite but was too slow. It took a while for someone to come to take my order. It took about 20min to get tea and 25 more minutes to get my food. Ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce, spicy tuna, and ikura. The spicy tuna was decent, and very good portion for the price. The ikura was alright, but I rather go to Sushiland for the same quality and half the price. Now to the main dish, which is the eggplant, it was not good. The garlic has no flavor and was soaked in a very thick greasy sauce. The fried nice that came with it tasted a little bit better, but not enough to save it.

A co-worker and I came here for lunch today, and I gotta say: the sushi is absolutely DELICIOUS. A $ 5 roll is huge, too. You definitely get your money’s worth here. See my pictures for more comments on the food. My only gripe is that I never got my «main» dish — the Combo lunch special. My co-worker got his, but I never got mine. We just had them take it off the bill at the end. In general, the wait staff was a bit confused, unorganized and forgetful.

If you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for or if you’re hanging out with picky eaters — come here!!! They have so many different rolls and lots of sashimi choices! They also have all the Chinese entrees you can think of. I didn’t see a tank with live crabs and fish though so they may not have that. I also saw crème brûlée on the menu! What the heck??? I had the all you can eat hot pot. Usually when it’s all you can eat, they give you the basics like lamb, beef, pork, chicken, tofu, veggies and some noodles. Spring gave us all of the basics plus fish fillet(super fresh!), shrimps, fish balls and potatoes! We were also given garlic oil and garlic paste as the dipping sauce. I’m so extremely happy with this place because they also passed the water test! Usually when I go in a Chinese restaurant, I feel like I have to get on the table and do a dance before someone gets me a glass of water. I didn’t have to ask here. My water was always filled! Awesome! I’ll definitely be back to try other things but I just may be tempted to order the hot pot again!

I use Unilocal as my guide for EVERYTHING. That said, reviews for this restaurant steered me wrong. We should have known what we were in for when we arrived at the restaurant at peak dinner hour and the place was empty. We decided to give Spring a shot, hoping they were just slow because of their recent opening. I wish we had stuck to out gut feeling and walked out the door… The food was awful: beef and broccoli was a ridiculously salty combination of poorly-seasoned meat and undercooked vegetable; salmon teriyaki was bathing in a syrupy sauce and slime; the sushi was not fresh. To top it all off, my poor boyfriend has been sick with what I will politely call«severe gastrointestinal distress» since we ate at Spring on Wednesday night. Save your time, money and stomach: do not eat at Spring.
