Heard a lot about this place and finally had the chance to try it out over the weekend. It took about 15mins or so before I got my takoyaki as there was quite a few orders ahead of me. I was drooling while waiting for my order to be made. The takoyaki is freshly made and if you’re those that are used to the frozen package will not like these because it’s much softer than the frozen package ones that are fried. I thought it has good texture, the tako tasted fresh and tender, could use a tad more seasoning. Cost is $ 4.50 for 6 pieces.

I was lucky enough to be at Uwajimaya when they were selling takoyaki. I still don’t know their exact schedule. Only weekends? That’s too bad because I usually shop during the week. I wish they would have a permanent takoyaki stand.

Best and Only fresh takoyaki place in Town. So sad, they are only open for weekend!!! I love how gooey inside and crispy outside. Last weekend I tried okonomiyaki too. It was so good. Have weekly takoyaki and weekly uwaji shoppoing done here at uwajimaya bellevue.

too goeey inside, and not very flavorful. most of the flavors from this takoyaki comes from the okonomiyako sauce and mayo. i rather wait for richmond night market to get my takoyaki crave taken care of. not work checking the schedule out on sundays to visit this place at uwajimaya. maybe my expectations were too high? maybe it smelled too good? but it wasn’t up to par :(sad but true.

Either Tako Kyuuban Takoyaki needs to open up somewhere permanently with a liquor license or Uwajimaya needs to get a permit to serve because it’s a crime that I can’t have an ice cold beer with takoyaki this delicious. I’m not one to comment on the authenticity of any particular food because all that matters to me is how good the thing I currently have in my mouth tastes — and Tako Kyuuban Takoyaki is spectacularly good — golden brown and crispy on the outside, not too gooey on the inside, topped off with a tasty brown/teriyaki/katsu type sauce, mayo, seaweed, and bonito flakes. Absolutely delicious. A steal at $ 3.99 for a half dozen as well. To top it all off the Tako Kyuuban are super friendly folks.

Fresh Takoyaki(6 for $ 3.99) just got more accessible for me. I went to check out the new(to me) Uwajimaya’s in Bellevue recently and couldn’t resist the call for«takoyaki!» You can wait and watch them make it right in front of you or you can order and walk around and do your shopping. The only thing that bothered me was I asked him how long it would be and he said 5 minutes. I wish he was more up front, I kept having to check back in only to see my order was still in cue. It was more like 15 minutes. But, anyway, once I got the takoyaki, it was delicious. It is made to order so you can have it with the works of sauce, mayo, the green stuff and katsuo or omit some items.

I came across this stand one Sunday after service at Blue Sky Church. I was really excited to find a place that makes fresh takoyaki. I know you can buy them frozen at Uwajimaya but it’s not the same. This place has a nice diagram of what takoyaki is and each of the ingredients that went into it. Granted that takoyaki is not for everyone. Some of my friends cannot understand why you would put mayo on something savory nor do they like the the soft texture with the chewy tako piece inside. However, the layers in texture and depth in flavor are the two best things about takoyaki. This place has its own batter. Granted that their takoyaki was not the most«structurally sound» when I had it, the flavors were there. They were also very generous with their samples. I must have eaten a whole portion while I was willing for my order to be made. =D But this just speaks to how good they are as you just want to have more and MORE! Do give this place a try and promote takoyaki to your friends!

Living on the eastside just got a little better… I LOVE takoyaki! This place is like a dream come true for me. This is nothing like the takoyaki you get in restaurants around here. It’s fresh, tender and tasty! Really neat to see them make it right in front of you. The staff is super nice and it was cool to learn about the process & ingredients. Finally found a place for my takoyaki fix! Hmmm…do I have time to run back there before they close today???

Tako Kyuuban is a food stand that offers fresh takoyaki. It is located at the Bellevue Uwajimaya twice a month on weekends. Check their website out for exact dates and times. Tako Kyuuban is located in the small kitchen area right behind the refrigerated case of sushi and poke. Each order has six pieces of takoyaki and cost $ 3.99. You order at the counter and you can see them make it in front of you as Alan B. mentions. If you want to roam the store for a bit after putting in you order, it takes about 7 – 8 minutes to make each order FYI. Once your order is ready, you pay at the Uwajimaya cash registers. There is a barcode price tag placed undernearth each box. After you pay, you can either take it to go or eat it in the seating area inside the store. Bear in mind though that takoyaki is best eaten right away. I decided to eat it right after I paid for it in the seating area. All in all, I liked it though I should have bought something else to accompany it. Not substantial enough to be a meal. Maybe picking up some sushi, soup noodles or a bento would be good. The seasoning was good and I liked the tako(octopus), though there was just a small amount as the takoyaki was mostly batter. The takoyaki has a softer texture to it than the ones I have had previously. Maybe it has to do with the fact they were cooled down. Or more likely they were not made the traditional way. I think they are definitely worth a try if you are shopping at Uwajimaya on a day they are there. But I would say to pick up an item from the deli with the takoyaki to make a meal with.

I was at Bellevue’s Uwajimaya shopping one day, and I heard voice calling«Fresh Takoyaki» So it got my attention! I saw they are selling Fresh Takoyaki located right next to the sushi cooler. And yes it is FRESH! You place an order with them and they will make it right in front of you! It’s so much better than the frozen one. Very friendly staff, very good price($ 3.99 for 6) and it taste very good. I have been going there almost every weekend when they have it there. Hopefully to see them there for good in Uwajimaya Bellevue.
