This review has been a long time coming. I’ve been visiting the Batchelor Button about 3 years now. It’s a hidden bar within the neighborhood I live In, surrounded by industrial businesses. The Button has been there since the beginning of time(hence the horse post in the front of the bar). Dana and Luke have owned the bar for years. And I think that’s one of the major contributors to the bars character. You see, when you walk into the Button, you don’t walk into music blaring, or side eye giving hooligans. You walk into a peaceful, «hi, have my seat» kind of joint. Sure they don’t have any craft beer, or any kind of hard liquor or alcohol. Sure the normal crowd consist of retirees from around the area. But it is calm, inviting, safe and fun. The awesome bartender is attentive and always ready with an ice cold mug. And the regulars are welcoming and always spark up an interesting conversation. This is in no way a what’s some would consider to be a «hip» bar. For me though, the dive loving gal that I am, it’s a hidden gem. Here’s the skinny: CASHONLY! No cards or Atm access. Draft: Budweiser/Bud Light: glass 1.50/mug $ 2/pitcher $ 6.50 Canned: Coors Light/PBR $ 2.25 Bottled Beer: Corona /Michelob Ultra/Sam Adams $ 3. Wednesday-Saturday Lunch Specials They have multiple TV’s inside the bar and outside in the Patio area. Plenty of Parking on the street and the back lot. And his and hers bathroom(no worries ladies, ours is always clean) The beer prices, great service and company keeps me coming back to the Button, time and time again. Check it out! Or don’t, then I can keep this Bellflower gem all to myself.

Jealous that I am not the first to review this little beer hole. But my fear was that I’d somehow ruin it by Unilocaling it, but that cherry has been popped now. I only get here once in a great while. Every time I’ve been treated like a king as they know I’m not a regular and they seem to go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. My first time here I ended up leaving with a drink token, my second time the nice(hammered) regulars bought me a beer and pulled me into their rowdy conversation. I’ve maybe been here 5 – 6 times now. I have a feeling that a majority of people out there will hate this place, and that’s fine by me. This is more of a place for working folk in the area. A complete throwback to old Bellflower. Nothing fancy at all, just a tiny room with a bar and some TV’s. It kind of feels like someone’s den from the 50’s. They whip up some kind of food at certain times of the day it appears. From one of my visits I learned that this place opened in 1948(or close to that) and has had two owners, the current ones have had since the early 80’s. PBR in a can, Bud & Bud lite(if I remember right) on tap and maybe a few other selections. This place is tiny, hard to notice from the outside. Reminds me of being somewhere like a small town in another state. Also note it’s on Artesia Place, not Blvd. So it’s the charm, hokeyness, and friendliness that gives this place a 5 star in my opinion.

I love this shit-hole. LOVEIT. But then again, I’m a sucker for shit-holes like the Bachelor Button. My big bro and I live for cheap beer and places that we can talk about for days after. We spent less then 20 bones, got a healthy buzz and made a bar of friends. Best part… everyone in the Button took turns buying rounds. Come on now… at $ 1.25 a mug who cares how many rounds you buy. We were the youngest in there… by oh say 40 years. The owners were super cute and nice. Blink an eye and you will miss this hidden gem. Support local indie bars!
