Had a wonderful experience at the Cabin Tavern this afternoon, both in regards to the staff and the regulars. On a day trip from Seattle, my friend and I came in so she could use the restroom, and we ended up staying for hours after encountering amazing hospitality(so much so that I finally created a Unilocal account). Great selection of both beer and jukebox tunes. If I’m ever in Bellingham again I will definitely be back!

The Cabin really is a nice little dive bar. The food is damn good for a two foot square grill and a fridge and looks just like the photos. The locals are real nice, and only rarely too talkative. As an occasional patron I dig the place. I’d give it a shot if that’s what you’re looking for. And they recently did get liquor.

The stabbin cabin is what I like to call this little dive gem. Typical music I have seen here in the past was pretty hard stuff. A bottle of Ranier and some people watching are what I call good times.

The Cabin is a place that is mostly known for amazing burgers and good deals on drinks. This is a beer /wine only bar and they don’t stock hard booze which is totally fine with me. They run a decent karaōke night here but the setup needs improvement… that said its still a great time and the regulars are the most friendly people in town! Don’t skip over this bar! The Cabin now serves hard alcohol! Whaaat?!

I really can’t speak for this place as a patron, as the only time I was there was with a band I had booked there. I didn’t even drink. From that experience alone though, I probably wouldn’t return. I booked a show with some lady over email, she asked me to find other bands to join us, so I found 4 others and made the flyer. It seemed a little like I had just done her job for her, but it’s not the first time a venue has asked me to find our own openers. Well 5 bands already seemed like a lot to us, but she assured me it would be fine, they would start the show a little earlier. We drove 3.5 hours to get there, only to find out that some band we’d never heard of was told that they could play also. So we had to cram SIX bands into the time allotted, giving each band about 3.5 minutes to setup and break down, and about 20 minutes to play. After driving 3.5 hours, playing for 20 minutes was kind of a bummer. Not only that, but the band that they let play was of a totally different genre than the 5 other bands that night, and I got a lot of confused looks and people asking me «who the hell is this band?» Of course, the only person I talked to about booking this show just conveniently happened to not be there. There wasn’t a single flyer, that I had made, hanging on the door or any of the walls, and we left with 12 bucks. That only covered about 30 minutes of our 3.5 hour drive we had to get home. Won’t be booking this place again. On a brighter note, I’m sure this is a great place to get drunk at.

I read all the other reviews and I feel like the Cabin Tavern deserves a better score! Let me start by saying a few things I wish would change: 1.) FOOD, get popcorn or SOMETHING. 2.) beer is good, but maybe a cider on tap would be nice, too? 3.) cash only? DUMB! I would spend more here if I didn’t have to take money out. Okay, now that’s out of the way… I love the karaōke on Thursdays, the bartenders are super nice and very chill. The other patrons are typically nice and there is a general feeling of being in a friendly, anything-goes kinda bar. I love that. The atmosphere is just fine, I don’t even mind the décor. If you want to make new friends go here!

Yes, I like karaōke joints. And I liked this one. Ventured out while on a business trip and discovered this little dive, and had a great evening. Beers were cheap, crowd was welcoming(even the wasted fisherman guy), at one point the bartender jumped up on the bar, ran to the other end and poured a beer on a guy’s head(the guy laughed), lots of singers who clapped for everyone(talent was about average), and everyone got to sing, albeit only once or twice. Get there early to have a shot at multiple songs!

Got karaōke? Well this place does! Its a good alternative to the other karaōke’s in Bellingham but its no where near as good as some other places I’ve been to in my time. They only serve beer and stuff like Mike’s hard so if you don’t drink beer your out of luck. The place itself is pretty dingy and dark with mismatched waiting room chairs and grimy tables. The bathrooms are small and generally pretty messy but not completely disgusting. Oh yeah and no food so don’t go hungry!!! Their karaōke books are pretty full of music(though falling apart) and they have some of my fave songs but a whole lot of junk to. The girl who runs the karaōke has a card catalog you can write your fave songs and their numbers down on so if you come back you just have to pull out your card to get your songs out quickly. My main problem with her is her wait lines, they are outrageously long. She tacks on new people to the end of the line so you can wait forever before you sing again. My average is two in a night, that’s being there from when karaōke starts till about midnight(about three hours or so). She also tends to put her fave singers in twice in a line somehow, claims they are singing a duet then when the other nonexistent person doesn’t show just lets that person sing. Kind of unfair but its one of the better places to go for karaōke in Bellingham which really does say something about the karaōke in Bellingham.

The little brother of the Waterfront, The Cabin is old-school dive. They’ve got a couple of pool tables and lots of pull-tabs, and a surprisingly nice bathroom. Have a couple of beers here before a show at the Wild Buffalo, just a block away.
