I came to Cosmos Bistro with a friend. I had the Kulshan Beer-ger. It was the best burger I’ve had in Whatcom County. It was moist, flavorful, and cooked perfectly to my liking. The sauce with the cheese was awesome and yummy. And the bun selection was great. I went a second time with my boyfriend and decided to get the same thing. It was equally consistent and delicious. My boyfriend is very picky and he loved his burger! Anytime I am craving a delicious burger I will be going to Cosmos Bistro. It may be difficult to not become addicted.

We decided to try this place this out for Sunday morning breakfast. The three of us had their pork adobo eggs Benedict. It was delicious! Coffee was good and the restaurant was really cute. The menu was small. However I would have tried every item. Nice wine menu. Great service.

One of my favorite sandwiches in the world is the croque monsieur. Sadly, I rarely order it because I have been disappointed far too often. Like clam chowder – with its range from sublime to wall paste – a good croque monsieur is very, very good, but a bad one is horrid, usually the result of overdoing or underplaying the bechamel or cheese topping, leading to either a soggy mess or a glorified ham sandwich. On my first visit to this restaurant, I discovered that Cosmos gets the croque monsier exactly right and I am thrilled to finally have a trusty place in town for this lunch craving. I may even(eventually) be willing to move on to another item on the menu.

Yes, it’s as good as the reviews reveal. Don’t skip this place! It’s really awesome. I had the half-roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, seasonal veggies and a Farmhouse Salad. Everything was amazing. Service was great. Really, just a great experience. Oh and the gluten-free ala mode was great as well(and plenty big for two people). The only bummer is this place wasn’t open on Sunday for dinner so we couldn’t go back on our 2nd evening! Darn! We’ll be back!

So my other half and I decided to try this place on a whim while walking by… best decision. It’s a small place and easy to miss if your not looking hard enough but it’s totally worth it to check out. We had the Kulshan Beerger, Beet Borscht Soup and a mini meatball appetizer. The Burger was so divine! Having never actually eaten grass fed beef before I can say with confidence that it really makes a difference in taste. The texture was smooth and finely ground, savory and just yummy. They also know how to pick the good bacon, thick and meaty. Overall. they put great effort into the taste and presentation for their food. Wonderful staff, keep up the good work!

My husband and I have had dinner here twice and each time has been a good experience. The first time we dined, he had the tournedo of beef and I had the vegetarian tamales. The tamales were just ok for for me and my husband loved the beef dish. The 2nd time we went he ordered the beef again and I had the 3B burger. The burger was Ah-mazing. I’m in love with the blueberry-onion jam. Cosmos also makes amazing drinks. The last time I was there I had a strawberry mimosa and it was so refreshing! The only downside is the small space and some of the menu items are on the pricey side.

Stopped in for a quick brunch. The place was busy, not packed. Our server was great. The food was excellent. We got some kind of veggie skillet meal, with their housemade bread. Deilghtful! And a big enough portion to share. :)

My wife and I went to Cosmos for the first time today, although we’ve been meaning to come since they opened. I’m so glad we finally went and had a nice, casual, delicious lunch! The space is pretty cool. Long, narrow space but not crowded or cramped; nice chalk board drawings and menu, super friendly staff, impressive open-style kitchen, and nice big windows to let in natural light. I ordered the portabello sandwich with a side salad while Lisa ordered the meatloaf sandwich with chips. The portabllo sandwich was so good! The mushroom was well marinated and cooked to perfection. All the flavors melded together so nicely without be too overwhelming. The bread was so good! The side salad was fresh and lightly dressed. The pickle spear that came on the side had a spiced flavor at first that was unexpected and delicious. I loved my food! It was the perfect amount that left me feeling perfectly satiated. Lisa’s meatloaf sandwich was also good. You could tell that it w as really good meatloaf and we’re looking forward to going for dinner sometime and ordering the meatloaf entreé. Our only complaint was that there was too much horseradish, not in a spicy way but in a way that it was the dominant flavor and we wanted the meatloaf to be more present. Thank you Cosmos for a lovely lunch, hope to see you soon for dinner!

Excellent meatloaf sandwich. The cider was refreshing and the ambiance nice. Next time, I will come back for dinner and try the mac and cheese.

Cosmos was fantastic!!! I had the Mac and cheese and my daughter had the cheeseburger and fries. Our server was a doll! She was so nice and truly made our mother daughter lunch date even more fun than we were already having. The burger was perfect. The bun was especially delicious. The Mac and cheese is the definition of comfort food! So cheesy and decadent. They made the Mac for me even though it’s a dinner menu item and we were still on lunch time hours. Thank you Cosmos! We will be back!

Pros: –Unique specials grace the menu daily –Portions are enormous! Just ask for a take-away box at the start. You’re going to need it. –Food is flavorful and satisfying –Presentation is pleasing –Owner and cook take pride in their establishment, service and menu offerings –The setting has a distinctive, laid-back charm. I loved the chalkboard walls for writing the food and drink specials, and I enjoyed the décor such as the wooden crates repurposed as shelves for glasses and libations. Cons: –Metered street parking during the weekdays can be difficult to find. –Small & cozy… your table will most likely be in elbow fighting distance of the table next to you(No sharing of state secrets here). –Busy, busy, busy… it’s a popular place. –Eggs Benedict is NOT on the standard weekend breakfast menu. It is offered as a special occasionally, but you’ll have to visit frequently in hopes of trying it.

Rosemary mimosa? Worth a try! Came for lunch(initially brunch, but not served on weekday) and sat upstairs with a rad view. Kulshan Burger was raved about in our party– juicy and worth the dollar amount. The salad portion was HUGE, and dressing was tasty. Medium options for vegetarian, a touch lower for gluten/dairy free. Not complaining though– liked the mimosa options a lot. Creative. It was a touch slow, maybe understaffed that day? But always kind, good humored and tasty.

Bellingham has been a little slow to get on the brunch bandwagon, therefore, I have been a bit slow in getting to Cosmos. I had a hankering for an awesome benny and mimosas, so off we went. We busted through the doors a few minutes after opening on a Sunday(I get up early, don’t be a hater). We had the place to ourselves! This meant our very knowledgeable server had time to chat with us and let us know about the amazing possibilities awaiting us. I had the pork adobo benedict, since I had read so many reviews of the pork adobo. It didn’t disappoint! Soft, savory pork with a nice light hollandaise sauce served with some of the best breakfast potatoes in town. I asked for gluten free bread instead of an english muffin as the base layer and the bread was even amazing. My mimosa was a very refreshing fresh squeezed citrus mix with a hint of rosemary… wow. All the hype is to be believed — Cosmos is the place I’d take my friends when they visit from my hometown(Portland, aka, foodie central). Cinnamon, the proprietress, works hard to source great local food plus gluten free options and we plan to come back and try the meatloaf dinner next. Yes, the place next door may think it’s more hip, but Cosmos can hold their own. Give them a try, you won’t regret it.

After the elite event at Cosmos, I jumped on the first opportunity to return to Cosmos; this time, bringing my husband. We were both on cloud 9 over our food; I totally scored wife points! If I’m ever on death row– the veggie scramble and the eggs benedict is going to be my request for a last meal. The service is very attentive and, if you peer into the kitchen, you can see your dish being made with care. One tiny hang-up we experienced is that they were still only serving breakfast when we came in during what I would call a «lunch hour.» No problem — the food was still amazing, you just might want to check on this before you get your heart set on something. Edit: Docked a star because I’ve returned a few more times. The wait staff is in a constant state of being frazzled. One one occasion, I went with a friend and we both wanted eggs benedict but they were out of almost all of the ingredients. They cobbled together something that we shared between the two of us and still charged full price, which was not cheap, so I didn’t feel like it was fair customer service.

Although I’ve only been here once for an event, I’ll definitely be back! Pros? From the others who attended the event, I heard nothing but rave reviews about the service and food The veggie scramble was to die for– so many fresh ingredients straight from the farm Mimosas have the perfect mix of champagne and OJ(none of that, heavy on the OJ stuff here) Eggs Benny had a twist on the traditional hollondaise sauce(lighter, fluffier, and a bit of a spice) Service was friendly and unobtrusive Cinnamon, the owner, has an obvious passion for pleasing customers… Her variety of comfort foods(from traditional Hawaiian and Filipino fare to chicken and dumplings to meatloaf) create the perfect mix of something for everyone Cons? I’ve seen this place get super busy(it’s quite narrow inside) so prepare for a bit of a cozy setting with strangers

Excellent service, excellent food, and a great atmosphere. If I could rate it as 6 stars instead of 5 I would. Friday night at about 6:00pm, and the restaurant was busy, but there was room at the bar, and room at a couple of 2 person tables. We were seated at a 2 person table near the stairs by the kitchen. This is a fun place to sit because you can see everything that is going on in the open concept kitchen. First our waiter was awesome. Probably one of the most attentive wait staff that I have had the pleasure of dining with in some time in Whatcom county. The waiter had great recommendations to try the meat loaf, or the adobo pork. I decided to go with the meatloaf. The food arrived, and the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables and gravy looked spectacular. However when I took the first bite, I realized that the gravy was not hot, it was more of a luke warm. I took a second bite to confirm the temp, and yes indeed, the gravy was not hot. It did have amazing flavor, even being a bit cold. But here is where a stellar restaurant has a chance to shine above the rest. Our waiter came to check on us by within about a minute or two of the food being delivered. I asked if the gravy was supposed to be hot, and explained that it wasn’t. He immediately took the plate back to the kitchen to be «re fired», which I assumed was to heat it up, but instead he threw it right in the trash. At this point the chef started on a fresh meal for me. Wow, I bet a lot of other places would have just thrown in in the microwave. After the chef prepared a new meal, he delivered it himself an apologized for the mistake. I didn’t need an apology, but it was nice. The plate was steaming hot, and the meatloaf was extraordinary. What really amazed me was the vegetables on the plate. Normally I don’t like cooked vegetables that you get in a restaurant, because so many times they taste like frozen vegetables that have been boiled, but not these. The carrots, zucchini, and squash were actually fresh, cooked perfectly, and tasted amazing(other than I don’t like squash). The thing is, in life mistakes happen, like the cold gravy, but what differentiates a truly amazing restaurant from the average restaurant is how they handle mistakes. If could break out my rating into categories I would have given the following scores: Wait Staff: 5.5 stars. Chef /Kitchen Staff: 6 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars. Well done Cosmos… I will be certainly be back.

Someone asked me recently«when did Bellingham become a foodie town?» The answer, my friends, is we have always been a town full of foodies; we just(with few local choices) had to drive an hour north or south to satisfy our cravings! Thankfully, gone are the days when Bellingham heralded the arrival of cookie cutter chain restaurants with fanfare usually reserved for heads of state. In other words: we are finally a town that caters to foodies. And Cosmos Bistro is a shining example of why we do NOT have to drive farther than State St. to get an amazing meal. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve known Cosmos’ chef and co-owner, Cinnamon Berg, since before her restaurant opened. I knew she loved to cook, and had become well-known among local catering circles for her simple-yet-innovative cuisine. When she told me she was planning on opening her own restaurant I was optimistic, but also a little gunshy. The part of me that had seen a lot of great restaurants(like Nimbus, Bozak and — sniff sniff — Cheese Meat(s) Beer) struggle to make it here didn’t want to see the same thing happen to her. But, of course, I wished her nothing but success with her comfort food concept, and watched in anticipation as she spent months converting a narrow street-front slice of the Herald building into a beautiful restaurant. On opening night the hubster and I were one of the first in the door at Cosmos. I don’t even remember what we ate that night, but I remember it was good. I remember thinking I couldn’t wait to go back, and tonight I did. I wasn’t super hungry, so I had a delicious caprese salad featuring fresh mozzarella and ripe-off-the-vine locally-grown heirloom tomatoes. For me, the sign of a good meal is that I don’t have to add salt to it, and this salad did not disappoint. It was perfect! My mom ordered the salad nicoise, which was HUGE and featured a nice-sized portion of seared tuna and tons of toppings. My daughter ordered the macaroni and cheese(and let me steal a few bites) — it was, in a word, sublime. Can mac ‘n cheese be sublime? Um, yes. It was creamy, delicious, rich, and cheesy. The service was also great… friendly and helpful, with our waitress, the lovely Astrid, making helpful suggestions when I told her I wasn’t super-hungry.(Although the pot roast they had on special tonight did sound heavenly!) I was glad we went early — by the time we left(just before 7) the place was starting to fill up. It warmed my heart to see a lot of familiar faces from the Bham foodie scene wandering into the place. I can’t wait to go back when I’m hungrier and get one of their ahhhmaaazzzing looking burgers!(I hear they are some of the best in town.) Good job, Cinnamon. I’m excited to say«I knew you when»! Thanks for helping us foodies find a good reason to eat local.
