Inspire Studio

This studio is phenomenal. Long story but I accidentally got into Vinyasa when I decided to try yoga post surgery to get my strength/​range of motion back so I could get back into my «real» routine of TRX, Pilates, weights, barre, etc. I used to feel like yoga was «glorified stretching». After trying Vinyasa, I realized how wrong I was and am now hooked. Whenever I travel, I turn to Unilocal to find studios I can drop in on. Inspire was the one that stood out for two reasons: The classes are SUPER affordable. Each teacher offers their own mini package. Ruby has 5 for $ 25 to start. Inspire also features a variety of daily classes.
The studio: Yoga studios can be intimidating and this one is not. The space is stunning/​has great energy and they have everything you could possibly need: Mats, blankets, straps, blocks, bolsters, etc.
The teacher: I can’t speak for the others, but Ruby is great. You’ll love her regardless, but if you are newer to yoga like me you will appreciate how she is able to walk you through the sequence, explain the different terms, offer modifications both easy and hard and how she will quietly come up to you and offer tips/​correct your form if need be. The part that I love is that she has mastered the balance between helping you work up a serious sweat while still staying grounded (hard for me as I have a lot of energy and am easily distracted) and relaxed at the same time. My last class is on Friday and I am so bummed to be leaving. The plus side is that she has completely changed yoga for me and I now feel inspired to start practicing at home on my own. I will absolutely come back when I visit, but if you live here and love yoga, you need to make this your home studio.
Tips: Get there 10 minutes early to get a good spot, get set up and checked in.

Ruby AND her classes are amazing. I tried several yoga studios in Bellingham before feeling right at home at Inspire Studio. Ruby’s classes got me through the preparation of a cross country move, both mentally and physically.

I attended the Tuesday evening class which was recommended through a meetup group. Wow what an awesome experience. It’s gentle and she walks the room to see if we need help, calm atmosphere, great tunes and dim lighting all make this worth your visit. I signed up for ore classes and in fact going to see if there is a weekend class so I can go twice a week. Try it you won’t be sorry

Lovely open space, room to expand your poses. If you are looking for a core power type studio this is not for you. It much slower paced, where you create your own internal heat!

I am a professional photographer, who routinely rents various studio spaces in Portland, Seattle, and Bellingham… and I have to say this is one of my very favorites for both natural light and for those times when I am bringing my own equipment. The light, the brick walls, the spacious, clean and welcoming environment (along with nice bathroom facilities and changing areas) is perfect. It’s also on the second story, so you have privacy from street traffic. Ruby is wonderful to work with, providing a simple and clear contract with competitive rates. LOVE this studio space!

As a teacher and student at Inspire, I found that this studio really does offer something for everyone. From Kundalini with Ruby, to Forest with Guy — so many amazing teachers call Inspire home. As a teacher myself, I was so warmly welcomed and encouraged — and always found support from other instructors. Ruby always takes such great care of the whole community that makes up this heart «inspired» venture. My hope is that all of the Bellingham and the outerlying communities find this beautiful sun drenched studio in the heart of the city by the Bay.

Wonderful variety of teachers. The space is expansive but warm. They have yoga mats and blankets available for no charge.
Forrest Yoga with Guy was a powerful and grounding class. He really worked my muscles.
Kundalini Yoga with Ruby… Great energy and challenging. Plenty of time for relaxation and guided meditations. Worth a visit or 20!
