Gave me a whole new outlook on meat pies! Not usually being a fan, I went here because my man wanted to try it… and they won me over. The words that come to mind are savory, home-made deliciousness, satisfying and certainly worth going back for. BEST tomato soup in Bellingham for sure… We ate lamb pie and steak pie, both pies and gravy’s were impeccable. Thumbs up from Drai and John!

Fun coloring projects. Maybe a little over-priced for what you get. I had the chicken curry with tomato gravy — it was yummy! I asked for a second side of the sauce(I would suggest this!)

So if you are ever out late and looking for a bite to eat you may look online to see what is open, you may stumble upon Man Lies(Freudian slip) and you may see their delicious looking menu! BUT they say they close at 3 a.m. on Saturdays and here is the part that’s going to burn your toast… ITSALLLIES! Checked the watch and it said 12:34 a.m. plenty of time right? NOPE, the guy kicking it inside said they were closed and he was just trying to find someone to give him a ride home. Terrible.

Fantastic meat and veggie pies! Great crust … Quality fillings. Get it with gravy — easy decision. Your meals will be under $ 10. Local beers and pies for dessert. All that with a local vibe and this place is a fantastic option for lunch, dinner or late night in Bham!

Small menu and limited choices for a place that only serves one thing. They were out of the one(out of two) vegetarian options on a Friday night even when the place was relatively empty. This is not the most cost-effective place to eat. And paper plates? C’mon. I’ll admit, the tomato gravy was darn good. But it only seems to mask what is an average recipe that hasn’t quite been perfected yet. I’ve made better pot pies at home.

Out of beef gravy at noon on a Saturday? Thankfully the lamb gravy and tomato gravy were good, but caused some in our group to order something a bit different than they were craving. Service was prompt and friendly. I thought the serving size was perfectly acceptable. Definitely comfort food! I would agree with one other reviewer that the crust is the best part. The meat was nothing to knock your socks off.

Wicked good comfort food. I’ve tried most of the pies and you can’t really lose any way. A big plus when they got the taps. Tody they were featuring 3 local brews, all perfect matches to the pies, although I had to pass as it was time to get back to work. The kids love it here too, an added bonus for me. Definitely one of my top lunch choices in town.

Ate at Man Pies about four months ago. I have meant to write this but life seems to get in the way sometimes. A friend and I thought this would be a great choice for a rainy day. Comfort food. We both ordered the Chicken Pot Pies. Well, we ended up throwing most of it away. These were nasty. Tasted horrible and we both got sick that night. I’m not sure what the draw is to this place and for those that like it, that’s great. We won’t be returning.

Braised beef with extra gravy. The filling and gravy are good but the best part is the crust. The butter crust is savory and flakey, and thick enough to handle the gravy and filling.

This has been on my list for a while. I’ve heard about the restaurant from a climbing buddy of mine that said this would be preemo pre-climb food for adventures in the North Cascades. Anyhow, we finally got around to going last month. The food is delicious, but the portions could be a bit larger. If you have a man-sized appetite, consider getting two pies or a pie and a side.

My wife and I stopped in here, late. We each tried a different pot pie and we were very pleased. This is well worth the stop. It’s a great place, any time, but I’m grateful they’re open late!

Great for when you’re craving something savory while you’re in a rush. Had the classic chicken pot pie and a bite of the roasted zucchini and eggplant. Both were absolutely delicious. Service was quick and friendly as well. Definitely coming here again.

Today I spent my afternoon at the downtown B’ham Starbucks. Not doing anything fun, mind you. Due to a combination of neglect and lack of wifi(and maybe a little laziness thrown in), I was woefully behind in my online statistics class, and spent several hours at said Starbucks listening to lectures and solving probability questions. HOURS. Of STATISTICS. For a nonmathematical sort of person(like myself), this was about as fun as watching paint dry. I sighed. I twitched. I downed a giant iced green tea. My brain felt overloaded… and then my stomach started growling. I can’t study on an empty stomach, I reasoned. It has nothing to do with my statistics aversion… I MUST go find food. What I found was Man Pies. I stepped up and ordered a vegetable curry pie with tomato gravy. In a jiffy, I was enjoying the flaky, buttery crust, the curried(and slightly spicy) vegetables and chickpeas, all smothered in a rich, tomato-y sauce. That gravy is key. The inside of my pie didn’t really have a sauce element, so I felt like the gravy really kicked it up a notch. With it, the flavors of the dish reminded me a bit of a saucy Indian dish like tikka masala or butter chicken(but without the chicken…). I ate the whole thing. It was magical. And I managed to get my homework done.

Grey and rainy it seemed the perfect day to pick up some comfort food and snuggle into bed. I decided to partake of the comforting pot pies of my youth. the counter server was lovely. She had me sample a truly delicious rich tomato soup. I ordered the chicken pie and a beef cheddar pie at her recommendation. man pies No… Swanson pies are closer to the mark. Mentally I was picturing large pies with nicely cooked vegetables, fresh herbs, and a creamy veloute. It would have been lovely if large cuts of vegetables had been roasted or sauteed separately al dente to seal in flavor. Nyet. Way overcooked, the filling was not any better than a supermarket frozen pie. No big chunks of sealed chicken or bites of different vegetable flavors. It tasted like the chicken glop from my elementary school cafeteria. the aluminum pan was the banquet pie size. These pies could have been previously frozen. The filling could have been cooked for 4 hours or 7 hours. The result would have been the same. Only slightly larger then most in the freezer case of Fred Meyers, they cost about $ 15 for two. Had to edit the Stars because after looking at other pictures pies that were flipped over and opened oozed rich sauce. I did the flip an open test to abysmal results. The bottom of my pie crust was raw and my clump was not about to go anywhere Editing for a third time to take another star. the potatoes are mush. they should have used a thin skinned potato for stews. I bet the way overpriced cost of two pies that they used russets that were cooked to mashed texture. argh…

Always a satisfying meal here at manpies. The classic chicken is rich and wholly filling. Don’t be turned away by the price. The food is quality(flaky, creamy, flavorful) and a deal for what you’re getting.

Walking through downtown Bellingham? If you find yourself needing a quick bite that’s filling, fast, cheap, and delicious then Man Pies should be your go-to choice! This quaint little pie shop located on 1215 Railroad Ave, Bellingham hosts the cutest and delicious pies around. Fresh out of the oven, the hot, steamy, and beautifully crusted pies are pulled and displayed in a glass case in front of the store. From classice chicken pot pie, to curry chicken. pulled pork, braised beef, braised lamb, or vegetarian curry there is something for everyone. To make it even better, Man Pies makes their own gravies,…yes thats plural for more than one kind of gravy. Besides chicken, they offer beef, lamb, and tomato gravy! And i can truely say that the tomato gravy is amazing. I found myself ordering a classic chicken pot pie, a braised lamb, and curry vegetable. All of them smothered in tomato gravy… oh and did i mention gravy is FREE! And on the side of course is steamy mashed potatoes. And for those who don’t have time to sit down and eat… Man Pies sells pre-made frozen pies you can buy and bake at home! Yet again, Bellingham shows of its many fine local eateries and this is definitely a place you must visit. Home made pies of all sorts, fun little hang out spot, friendly folks, great local brewed beer, and all for a cheap price!

I am a pie person and I have always loved pies. After finding out there is a pie place near by, I had to make that special 2 hour trip over. The pie was awesome. My friend and I shared the steak bacon chedder pie and the lamb pie. It was delicious. Definitely going back.

I’ve only eaten here twice. I ended up feeling really nauseous both of the times. Even without the sickness, its overpriced.

I’ve lived next to Man Pies for several years and eaten there on numerous occasions always with different levels of disappointment. The general complaint is that the cost far outweighs the value — the pies are a bit too dainty and the price is $ 2-$ 3 too high. I’m always left hungry and feeling that I’d overpaid for the pie. My go-to pie was usually the pork — which was hit or miss. The pork was sometimes seriously overcooked or bad cuts with dry, gristly pieces that would be spat from mouth. On my most recent visit I’d decided to give them another shot as it had been several months since last eating there. Watching the owner interact with customers and employees, seemingly smaller pie portions and the same feeling of dissatisfaction have led me to this declaration: I have eaten my last pie at Man Pies. There are just too many other good, quick lunch /food options that exist in downtown Bellingham. Never again.

This is my first review where the content is primarily from my family, who pleaded me to write about Man Pies. Unsurprisingly, my family is mostly men. We dropped in here as we didn’t feel like waiting 20 mins. for the family-friendly section of a popular restaurant to open up. Wall décor is a curated collection of all-ages«fan art» describing the Man Pie eating experience. The men wanted me to know that Moxie is available in the refrigerated beverage case. Lots of specialty sodas for the pop connoisseur, and local microbrewery beer, for the XYY-pie experience! Want chicken, beef, tomato gravy? Yours, for free. The males loved their pies: the crust, the filling, the taste. Me, I am terribly addicted to potato chips for the salt, and I found the gravy on my potatoes a little too salty. I’ll try a different gravy next time. Because we definitely will come back.
