Delicious! Stopped on my way through from Vancouver and had a hot pastrami sandwich that was perfect.

Really really tasty! The pickles on the side are also delicious. A little pricey for what you get though

Came tonight for the first official Unilocal event of the year and Old World Deli was a fabulous location to start off the year. I had never been here before and I can’t wait to come back for one of their amazing sandwiches. The owner was such a generous host for the event, and I can’t say thank you enough for all the wonderful food and hospitality. There was live music tonight and the it was packed, a lovely crowd enjoying the music, some even dancing. I loved how they sold their house cured and smoked meats, which are amazing. A portion of the restaurant was also lined with products they use which was a plus. The owner quickly showed me to the sweet hot peppers used in one of the dishes tonight, very friendly owner. The food, it was all fantastic. We had a meat and cheese platter featuring their house cured/smoked goodies, grilled vegetables, and olives. It had great variety and flavors. The smoked duck breast was my favorite and we picked up a breast on the way out, along with a jar of peppers to stuff with goat cheese as they serve. For our main we had a garlic sausage over green lentils cooked in duck gelee with house smoked bacon, leeks, and porcini mushrooms, delicious! Dessert we finished with a chocolate ganache tart with raspberry: Rich, silky, not too sweet and dusted with cinnamon which was a nice compliment. Try this place if you haven’t, it’s awesome!!!

This was such a great place to stop and get a delicious sandwich. My friends and I got the prosciutto and the chicken basil sandwiches. They were phenomenal and hit the spot. There are also great baked goods and a ton of local wines to choose from. I definitely recommend this place for an easy, low key lunch or dinner with great food.

Lovely Reuben, tangy and satisfying. Took my awhile to get here, very nice soups, salads, and sandwiches. Love the high ceilings, mismatched chairs, and’hamster norm of original local art on walls.

The food is quite good at Old World Deli; however, the portion sizes and prices are pretty outrageous. $ 10 for a smaller-than-average«full size» sandwich with no side seems quite high, especially when you consider the great number of other delis in the area offering similar(high) quality products and ATLEAST offer you a pickle, chips, or deli salad add-on at a reasonable price. One very small scoop of deli salad from them is +/-$ 3. Again, the food is excellent quality, obviously made with care, and tasty, but when lunch is $ 20 including tax + tip and I don’t feel full I can’t wholeheartedly recommend. So, not the best bang for your buck but a nice treat for your tastebuds.

I’m surprised I haven’t written a review… Oops. The basic 4 stars on my last experience here. Great soups and salads… Took home a nice pâté from the charcuterie case. Did the tasting of two hard ciders… one from Seattle and one from Victoria BC. Seattle cider had lower alcohol content and came through with lots of fresh apple flavor. The Victoria cider was served in a glass right out of the dishwasher so the alcohol was pungent and robbed the palate of the apple bouquet. Despite that faux pas, old world deli is generally a great place for excellent gnosh. Think high-quality soups, spicy mustard, flavorful cheeses, real honest-to-goodness never confuse me with that pressed stuff at pseudo sandwich shops meat, sink your teeth into bread and you have a recipe for success… old world deli

Wowed and impressed. The phrase«in house» made is taken to the max. Owners are locals who obviously put their heart into the food, service and ambiance of Old World Dei. My wino self absolutely freaked out at the incredible selection of both wine and pairings! Roasty, dark coffee and heavenly sandwiches! Gluten free, dairy free options– I asked for a gluten/dairy free breakfast sandwich and left the details to the kitchen. Yum. Wine club, tastings and delicious wee bites. Bacon made in house. Crunchy and perfect. Pesto is tasty and smooth. Reasonable prices and laid back feel. Yum. I will absolutely NEED to try all of their salads– looked killer.

I have reserved 5 star ratings for only those places that stand out as extraordinary, and the Old World Deli is certainly extraordinary. I was there for brunch on a Saturday and they were not too busy, the service was excellent, and the food was served quickly. They have a nice selection of breakfast paninis and other items, as well as an amazing menu of lunch and dinner items. Their assortment of wines, and other bottled items from fish sauce to bitters is great. I haven’t seen a selection like this anywhere in Bellingham. The owners were there and they talked about how they have so many items that are home make, or prepared right there in the restaurant. From home made bacon to pastrami to fresh roasted roast beef. Old World Deli is certainly authentic and worth frequenting. — — — — - I have been back since my original visit, and WOW the food they make here is amazing. The wine selection is excellent. The selection of in house smoked and cured meats is the best I have seen anywhere near Bellingham. Their Pâté is awesome, which I have to admit the first time I have tried Pâté, it was amazing. Another great dish that I had the opportunity to try out was their house made french garlic sausage with lentils. Really good stuff. — — — — The staff is super friendly. The food is extraordinary.

I had a roast beef sandwich. The bread was so fresh and soft and warm. They have a variety of fresh cheese too. I will definitely be eating here again.

5 Stars for quality products –3 Stars for haughty, dismissive and rude service. I have given them a couple of chances thinking I had just caught them on bad days but each time the cashier looks and acts like not only am I personally beneath his contempt but also that he would really rather be anywhere else. My only problem now is finding a store closer than Seattle that carries the bitters, tonics and vermouth that I love so much. At this point i will drive to Seattle rather than give any more of my money to this place.

I don’t know why I lived here as long as I have without going to this amazing and wonderful one of a kind delicious place!!! When I walked in all I wanted to do was quit my job, order one of everything on the menu, and see where that got me! I have never been so jealous of animals that have more than one stomach than the moment I went to Old World Deli! In fact, I might need to make a trip soon. Even talking about it makes me think about the great service amazing atmosphere, and delicious food! Do yourself a favor and go to the Old World Deli the next chance you get!

Had lunch here the other day. The panini special was a roast beef sandwich with blue cheese. Flavorful, but there was maybe 2slices of the meat. It was pretty brown, a little more pink in the middle would of been nice. Had the lemonade. Supposedly homemade. It was ok. The lady who took our order wasn’t the friendliest. Overall it was fine, not anything truly spectacular.

The quality ingredients have me giving this place 5 stars alone. I hate how some places slap layers together in order to make a sandwich, but this dosent happen here. There are also a selection of harder to find sodas here as well, such as the Bundaberg root beer and ginger beer that I enjoyed in the land of oz.

Sandwiches were great but the food was a little expensive for how little you are getting even though the food quality is perfect for a main street town deli. Atmosphere and staff were great though, just what you’d expect from a big town in the Pacific Northwest.

Decent spot. I didn’t really enjoy their food. I certainly didn’t enjoy the price of the food. Small portion, cluttered dining area. Looks like others love it.

Great lunch place! Sandwiches are good and good sized — not too large that you feel you may bust a seam when you leave, and not too small that you leave hungry. They have a «East Coast Special» which is basically an Italian type sub that is quite good(i don’t know if it’s a regular menu item though) The potato salad is excellent. They have a nice selection of wines and packaged foods too… and a nice quiet ambience. I particularly enjoy that there are always books and magazines laying around. Service is fast and friendly. Would recommend!

Old World Deli is my favorite place for lunch in Bellingham. The café is simple with a brick wall on one side and a copper red color wall on the other. Paintings are scattered along one side on the wall for sale and chalkboards surround the counter area. The menu offers quite a selection depending on what you’re in the mood to eat. There’s breakfast paninis, hot or cold sandwiches, soups, salads and meat/cheese plates. Coffee, wine or beer is available for purchase to enjoy with your meal and water is self serve. There’s a great selection of pâté, sauces and jarred goodies for purchase because after all, this place is a deli too. Kids can be kept entertained with a small number of books and toys available. Old World Deli has Happy Hour from 4:00PM-6:00PM(Thu, Fri, Sat) and live music from 6:30PM-8:00PM(Sat). This is a gem in Bellingham.

This is a fine place to have lunch. I had the banh mi sandwich special, and it was mouth-wateringly delicious. I would order it again, even though there were many other choices that looked great too. My wife had the grilled cheese panini, which was made with some fancy-pants cheeses that knocked her socks off. It was accompanied by broccoli soup that she slurped down post-haste. Kid had the kid’s grilled cheese and liked it. You order and sit. Then they put your food up on a counter and call you up to get it. Seating is ample, though not cozy. We were disappointed that they only had pre-packaged, shipped-in land jäger. They have lots of beverage choices, and serve as a small wine store as well. Overall, I recommend this place.

Culinary friends have tauted this place as the best around. Only after recently moving away from B’ham did I choose this place for lunch and a shared table with an old friend. The service is friendly, no doubt. But, the roast beef panini completely underwhelmed my expectations, and most importantly my appetite and taste buds. Don’t sit near the vino stock, unless you want to take part the sale department.
