When you consider having any type of eye treatment, you are talking about one of your most valuable sensory faculties. As a result, cataract removal is not a light or, for me, an easy decision. All the«what if’s?» come rushing to the fore as a cautionary measure. But, PCLI is an amazing center that treats all their patients with respect and«total quality care.“‘ It’s not just a marketing slogan for this office — they walk the talk of competency, care and compassion. Starting at the front, the receptionist is courteous and helpful. She answered the typical questions about times and helped me schedule one post-op evaluation at a different site, since we would be traveling after my second cataract surgery. Her«station»(the entry area) is equipped with coffee, tea, and light snacks — all to make you comfortable during a wait for the unknown! After a very short wait in the main area, I was escorted into the wait room, where two nurses were assisting all the patients(about four at one time) with dilation. Both nurses were professional, responsive to patients’ questions and concerns, and efficient. Next the nurse anesthesiologist, who was amazing. As he said, his station was the only one that would cause any discomfort, and even that was about a minute. One minute for the next unknown number of years of clear vision — a small price of time to pay! Dr Chung performed both my surgeries — absolutely the best! The first thing I noticed about him was his humility, A quiet, modest man, he came out prior to the surgery to introduce himself; once in surgery, he courteously asked if he could say a prayer before he started. Once started the process was amazingly fast. I was out in a few minutes, and thanks to the earlier information received about when to remove the eye protection, when to expect my vision to stabilize, etc, I was fully prepared for the recovery time. They covered everything I might need to know so there were no surprises when I got home. But, just in case, they assured me that I could call anytime if I had any problems. While I didn’t have need to call, I was confident they would have responded immediately if a need arose. Dr. Van Brocklin attended me at the post-evaluations, and he is equally courteous, efficient, and helpful. I was a bit uncertain about which lens option to choose, and after a series of questions and small tests, he provided me a recommendation. I am thrilled with the results! Victoria, the medical tech, was a great help, also, very friendly and responsive. Everything about my surgery was«textbook», and I have an immense sense of gratitude to all who helped make the experience comfortable and successful. For Dr. Chung and Dr. Van Brocklin I am extremely thankful for the competence, patience and care they exercised to help make this a success. For the«behind-the scenes’ professional staff, I appreciate their efficient and respectful approach to all patients. They all helped remove anxiety from the experience. If you need cataract surgery, this is absolutely your best choice. This type of surgery is only done once(hopefully), so prior experience in selecting a site is nil. Its tough to know who to choose, but the staff at PCLI are professional and very experienced, and you will be well cared for here. Since they don’t advertise, ask your optometrist to check out PCLI. You will be glad to find they are highly recommended by their professional peers.
