Second time I’ve had the Pad Thai. This time, the noodles were so severely undercooked you could barely bite through them. Great taste, awful preparation.(first visit was great by the way)

My new favorite place to eat. Their Curry is great @ a three for spicyness.

If you missed Su and her wonderful cooking from the original Poor Siamese, and were disappointed when the restaurant changed hands a couple years ago, fear not! Su is back, at the same Dupont Street location! She just reopened yesterday(April 26, 2014) and the food is as wonderful as you remember. The place is now called Nok’s Thai Cuisine, but it’s the same Su we know and love!

I still really love this place, but a word of warning: If you have any kind of sensitivity to MSG, be careful what your order here. I ended up having a bad reaction to some of the food. It still tastes marvelous, and I will be back… but I will just be more mindful of what I order, and maybe ask more questions next time.

This is the hidden treasure of Bellingham’s Thai restaurants is simple and quiet at times and but very good and the portions are humongous 2 people can eat with one dish is affordable and the spices are rated by stars which are in average higher than other Thai restaurants, for example 1 star here is 2 in any other Thai restaurant and if you are not careful you can end up like a dragon spitting a ball of fire… but is one of my favorite things when I’m in the mood. So it don’t bother me at all, the most delicious meal of the menu so far and something that I haven’t find in the other Thais is the Spicy Egg Plant and that is like touching heaven you have to try it if you ever visit. I will finish this review to mention the rest of the best dishes in the menu(according to me) in the mean time I like to tell you that perhaps they don’t speak English too much the lady who cook and own this place is very sweet and polite and you can feel the warmth so is beyond words and you will be treated right. Hopefully they stay in town long enough to grow as they deserve, but they are challenging by a critical location in this area of Bellingham, and still the customers are loyal and they always come back for more, something that tells you their food is good. The last time I went there I tried the Thai tea ice cream as a desert and you swear this is from another world. well for now this is my short review I will post some pictures for the enjoyment of this wonderful cuisine and place. love Alex

If your talking Thai food in Bellingham specifically, then this place is five stars. The wife and I heard good things about this place so we gave it a try and were happily surprised. The building looked slightly off-putting, but the inside had nice wall décor. We started with the calamari which was okay. The breading on them and sauce were good, but the calamari was below par. Still very edible though. Next was the pad thai and it was very tasty. It’s more traditional than other places, and that’s a good thing! No ketchup in their sauce, unlike other places. Lastly, we had the spicy eggplant. My wife eats a lot of eggplant dishes and she loved it, so that says a lot. Their food had a lot more of that authentic, straight-from-the-motherland kind of taste which we loved. We will have to come back to see of the rest of the menu lives up to this very good experience.

I keep going back because its close to my house, but I just need to stop. I’m never impressed by their food. Last night I got the red curry 3*, it was so spicy I couldn’t even finish it. My partner got pad see ew and it was dry. Also it just wasn’t good, I get curry at other places and love it, this was just, blah.

Tonight I ordered Pad Kee Mao noodles for take out and as always they were amazing. I am always happy with Poor Siamese. I feel like the portions are HUGE, especially when compared to other local Thai restaurants. I’m not sure about the other reviews on this place and why they were not happy, however I have been eating at Poor Siamese for the last year and have always had good food. Someone else mentioned Thai House and I have to admit the food is good, but the portions are so small. I ate there with the boy and we left still hungry… not at Poor Siamese. We always leave with left overs.

The food is as good as the thai restaurant that was their before but the service is amazing, the prices are fantastic and they have a great lunch special.

There’s nothing poor about this place! Tucked away off main streets, this little Thai restaurant is pretty great. I came with my folks and my sister after celebrating her graduation from WWU. With limited time on our hands and a race ahead of us to get to the airport, Poor House delivered. Dishes came put hot and fast and service came with a smile. Most importantly though, the food was great. We had coconut prawns, spring rolls, pineapple curry and the garlic lover dish. I’d definitely come back again to try more.

This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant in Bellingham. But, unfortunately, the food is not as good as it used to be. Today our curry looked like soup(so watery, i thought we were given a soup by mistake) and the kao-soy was not the awesome dish it used to be(I posted the first image of it here on Unilocal. It’s the main photo) I Will not be coming back for a looooong time.

I wanted to love this place, I really did. It’s the closest Thai restaurant to downtown Bellingham, and I had heard good things, so I gave it a shot. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. I am vegetarian, but my(supposedly veggie) soup had a large chunk of a shell in it. When I calmly showed it to the waitress(after I discovered it in my mouth, ew), she started making sort of a scooping motion to explain how it got in there. No apology. No offer to trade it out for a new dish or take it off my bill. And, the Rad Na was bland at best. Not the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had, but I won’t be back.

I wasn’t able to enjoy my meal here since my mouth was on fire. I like spicy food, but I like to enjoy the flavors as well so I don’t go too spicy. You never know what the spiciness levels are when you go to a new Asian place so I find its usually safe to go 3 star spicy. So that’s what I ordered here, however the budding hippy of a waiter for some reason decided that I would like the 4 star instead and began an endless pestering of me to go 4 stars. After a few awkward minutes of my manhood being questioned I relented thus I didn’t get to eat hardly any of my meal. The constant burning was only subsiding with constant cold water in my mouth. I didn’t appreciate being manipulated into ordering something I didn’t want. He is lucky I am a nice guy and still tipped him, but I won’t be back.

Best Thai food in Bellingham. The only real competition is 2 places: Busara Siamese Cuisine has fancier décor(date spot), and some complicated dishes. Thai 1(aka Pad Thai) on Meridian has pan Asian(sushi etc) and a bar(also a date spot). We have followed Poor Siamese from Ferndale(in a Quonset hut) to Mt. Vernon(in a closet sized spot) and now it’s in an old drive in. This location is the first one big enough to take a medium size group. The décor is nice and homey, that being said, not a place to impress a first date. Or for suits and ties. That is about the only thing I would say keeps it from being spectacular.

The best Thai in Bellingham! Nice big portions, great flavor, and very reasonable prices.(The waitress/cooks are also very aware of gluten-free which is a big plus!) I’ve only been there once, so I can’t give it a full 5 stars… but I know the next time I’m in Bellingham I will be stopping here!

The Poor Siamese Café moved into the space formerly operated by Supon’s, which consolidated to its Samish location. Supon’s was a neighborhood staple, and I was sad to see it go. While it didn’t have the best Thai food, it was some of the best in Bellingham, and the convenience was nice. However, after trying the Poor Siamese Café for the first time the other night, I’m very happy that Supon’s is gone. Poor Siamese is way better — definitely the best Thai in Bellingham! The food was delicious. I had the Kee Mao, and my girlfriend had one of their unique dishes — some crystal noodle dish with a name like the Café. They were both fantastic. Unlike Supon’s, they were not as greasy, and the flavors were well developed. I will definitely be returning, and can say with confidence that this is the best Thai in Bellingham. Only downside was slow service, but it’s the kind of place where it’s better to get takeout anyway.
