I put off going here for a year and recently went in and gave it a try. Wish I had not waited so long. The food is fresh and… well…tastes like what I had in Thailand. Have had the food now 5 times over the last month and it has been consistently great. For me, great Thai food has finally arrived in Bellingham. I no longer have to go to Seattle to get my fix. Give it a try and see what you think.

This place is adorable. The food was amazing. I had the satay gai small plate and the peanut sauce was the perfect addition. I also had the avocado curry and it was the best curry. You could tell all the ingredients were freshly prepared and well cooked. The guest service was also wonderful, she owns the restaurant and does the cooking and we had a great experience. Highly recommend!

This place is great! Authentic Thai delicious food. Hidden little gem in Bellingham, you will not be disappointed. All the dishes are delicious, highly recommend it. Space feels a little lonely but great if you are tired of long waiting lines elsewhere in town!

On our lunch break from work, we were trying different Thai restaurants and discovered Maikham. Instantly it became our favorite Thai restaurant in Bellingham, so authentic we couldn’t have asked for more. Thinking about the dishes we ate there, we took the whole staff for our Christmas lunch. The food is amazing, I couldn’t believe the flavors in the Phlaa Koong salad. All 6 of us each loved our dish, and they surprised us with a lovely banana flavored authentic rice desert at the end. We will always go here now.

Very fresh food, prepared with care and quite delicious! We are looking forward to going back and trying more of their Laotian specialties. The restaurant itself is quite appealing and the owner provides very friendly and personal service.

Loved the soup. A nice heat to it. Will be back to try other dishes. The owner came out asking how it was, is a nice touch to who the meal was prepared by.

The food was okay but there was terrible customer service. First off, we arrived on time for it to open for dinner– 5 pm. But they didn’t answer the phone or open the doors until about 5:20. We ordered– and i specifically asked for fried tofu in my curry. We paid– most with a coupon, and then we had a dollar or two left. We pulled out a credit card to pay the rest with, and the girl at the front counter goes, «It’s only like two dollars, you don’t have two dollars?». So we paid it with cash instead. It was almost 6 by the time we got our food. I realized that the tofu in my curry hadn’t been cooked, so I asked the girl to bring me some fried tofu. She then told me that they don’t make fried tofu. I said okay and then a few minutes later the owner(i think) came out and said the same thing. She said if i wanted it, I should have asked for it when i ordered. I said that I did, and she said she didn’t like to fry things in her restaurant. Finally she fried a small amount of tofu, but by the time she brought it out I had almost finished my curry. Customer service was just terrible the whole time.

As soon as I opened the front door, the aromas tantalized my appetite. We ordered the Chicken Curry & were not disappointed! The chicken was bone in & so tender it fell off the bone. The ratio of chicken, curry sauce, and avocado was so satisfying & loaded with flavor. I will go back!

My friend and I were having a girl’s night and decided to go out to dinner. We came here and waited 50 minutes for our food. When we asked the server about it, he told us the chef must have«dropped your ticket on the ground.» After we finally got our food, there was a long piece of plastic in our rice. We told the server, and he picked it out with his bare hands, said«that’s weird,» and didn’t offer us new rice! Also, the stir fry noodles I ordered had no noodles. What the heck? I would never recommend this place.

Went in for lunch yesterday with my boyfriend– arrived to an empty restaurant and two people working. We ordered fresh rolls, chicken larb, and pork pad thai. When the guy brought out our fresh rolls, he told me to «be careful» as he «got sloppy»(his words). My roll was terribly wrapped and fell apart as I picked it up. I’d like to stress again that we were the ONLY ones there. Our entrees came out and the larb itself was excellent. Crisp, well seasoned, and delicious. The brown rice it was served with was undercooked, though. It was crunchy in the centers. The pad thai was greasy and flavorless. We ended up going home hungry, as it just wasn’t worth the stomach space. Overall somewhat expensive for the quality of what we received. Probably won’t go back.

No way it’s a four stars restaurant. First, it took them 60min to make simple noodles, really? Then you go out to have dinner with your husband but the plates come separated by more than 20min, really??? And it was this way with all groups in the restaurant. Not coming back!!!

I came into the restaurant expecting something flavorful at least, due to the flashy exterior and bright air… However once I got my food, which took about 15 minutes for a simple phad thai, I was not even allowed that pleasure! The noodles were basically stir fried plain with random vegetables… The only way I can describe the dish is as spaghetti sans the sauce. If you are looking for a flavorful thai dish, look else where.

I really, really want to like this place. I keep going back because I know they have great ingredients, know they can make great dishes and love Thai food… However, I keep walking away disappointed. They are incredibly unorganized. Every time I go in the person working the front has no idea what is in the dishes, how long the wait for food will be or really much of anything about the restaurant or the food. At first, I attributed this to them being a new place. But they are not new now. Maybe the turn over is too fast? Maybe more training is needed? Furthermore, I have been less than thrilled with the dishes I have had. Most recently, I ordered the chicken sate and fresh rolls. The chicken was $ 7 and was about 5 oz of SUPER dry disappointment. By eating it with the very delicious peanut sauce it was edible. The fresh rolls were nothing great, and were also pricy(especially since it’s mostly lettuce). I asked for chili sauces and got some sweet sauce. Not sure if they call that chili sauce but as far as I know, chili sauce should be spicy. Not a big deal, but kind of odd. I have had all my orders«to go». The first time I got curry they put the curry and rice together in a box, so by the time I ate it all the sauce was soaked up by the rice. Not very good planning. The next time I got curry, I asked for the rice in a separate box and they said they always do it that way. Ok… The next time I got curry to go, I didn’t specify(because apparently they«always do it that way») and it was all packed together again. Bummer. I am often catching a bus or a cab so I will ask for an approximate estimate on time. The front of the house never knows and has to ask the back. The back is always way off. It’s not helpful to quote me an ideal amount of time– it’s only helpful to give me a real idea of how long it might take. If this happened once, no prob. But it’s every time. I have been in at least five times but I might give up after this last super disappointing chicken experience. I spent $ 16 and am still hungry. My food took 35 mins(was quoted 15) and while the girl at the counter was friendly, she didn’t have any answers to my questions. Too bad. I really wanted to like this place.

Hungry after a long drive and not taken by what I was seeing on the streets of Bellingham, I stumbled across this small, unpretentious and humbly marked establishment, and life just won’t be the same again. I ordered the avocado chicken curry, which was indescribably terrific. The spices were so artfully mixed, the ingredient so perfectly matched, things marinated together for hours — heck, I don’t know how they do it, but I don’t need to… point is that great food can come in unexpected places. The crowds may be missing the best of the best. I don’t give 5-star reviews easily, but I feel like Maikham deserves a 6. We met the chef, and she was clearly someone who takes pride in her craft. A real perfectionist, and an honor to experience it!

We just had an amazing lunch here. The summer rolls were huge, fresh and delicious. The larb and Namtok are fresh as can be and amazing. They also made some sticky rice specially for us and we found room to polish that off believe me. The owners were unbelievably kind and sweet. I wish I lived here so I could eat here all the time — when back in Bellingham it will be my first stop.

My wife and I went here for lunch today and it was fantastic! Originally we were planning on attending their tuesday lunch baffet, but it seems that it has been discontinued? Makes sense, because we were the only customers there. But what doesn’t make sense… is why were we the only customers there?! This place is the real deal! I have eaten curry at a variety of places, both around Bellingham and elsewhere, and this was some of the best curry my wife and I had had! We ordered the chicken & avocado curry and the egg noodles with curry to share. 1. The egg noodles with curry*: A very accessible curry dish, not very spicy, full of flavor but subdued with the broth. There was a generous helping of chicken on top and throughout that was moist, tender, and sooooo delicious! The food was hot enough that I had to blow on it, which is how I like it, and I’m really looking to enjoying another big bowl of noodles when the weather turns cold. 2. Chicken and avocado curry: This was our favorite dish of the two! The chicken was clearly done right; bone in, cooked over a long time to let the flavors sink in and meld with the chicken. So full of flavor! So tender and delicious! There was a generous helping of both chicken and avocado that went really well with the rice. *My only suggestion is that the chow mein noodles and pre-shredded raw carrots be left off as garnish. The dish doesn’t need it and as a garnish it takes away from the dish more than it adds. The chow mein noodles tasted a little stale and it was weird to see, what I consider junky salad bar carrots, on top of the dish. Overall, my wife and I were really happy with our meal and will be excited to eat there again! I really hope that this place doesn’t follow the same fate as Dashi because I want a big bowl of hot curry this winter! :)

This place is both five stars and zero stars. Like others said, the food is amazing. It can also be so off. And it can take FOREVER. and forever and… It all depends on the day. I still go there but not like I used to. I hope they can figure it out.

This stuff is authentic and amazingly flavorful! I have eaten here three times and every time it is amazing. I recommend asking for extra spice on the side. The cook brings our the spice and it is amazing full of flavor. Not your average Thai chili flakes. Definitely a must if your are Seeking authentic Thai. Way to go! Asking for extra spice is a must!!!

I had high hopes for Thai-Vietnames Asian Restaurant in Bellingham, but this place, being in the ill-fated Daishi Noodle House spot may be headed for the same fate. Maikham is quiet. Like a library. There were two tables seated when we arrived and another party arrived before us and it was still too quiet. The person who greeted us was polite but didn’t smile and spoke pretty quietly. The menu is up on a board, but it just lists dishes with prices and little more information. I had to ask what a couple of things were. I would suggest the menu be arranged on 1 board(rather than spread across 2, one on the right wall above the counter) with headings telling customers broader categories. I just felt like I wanted to try something different but the menu didn’t help me make that decision. This place is an order first at the counter then the food will be delivered to your table kind of place. The kitchen is behind the counter and deep… there is a middle room behind the counter area where it appears dishes are stored, then the kitchen is behind that room. There were 2 other chefs/staff that were way back in the kitchen and we couldn’t hear the kitchen at all. Which sounds good, right? But the other side of that coin is that the staff can’t hear when people come in and are waiting to order. Our food came faster than the folks who ordered before us, but our dishes didn’t come together which was a bit odd. The dishes are nice and seating is definitely pleasant, but it seemed diners couldn’t figure this place out, either. Some left their dishes on the table when they left, while we bused our own table; it just seemed like that was what they wanted us to do. With the staff so far away, they weren’t around to check on us or see if there was anything we needed. I had green curry which came with lots of great veggies and rice. It was served in a big bowl but we were given chopsticks to eat(Thai people don’t use chopsticks, they use a fork and spoon). I know this place is new and I hope they make it, but they need to find a way to be closer and to interact more with their customers. The food seems to be good, but even really good food can get lost with the other issues providing a warm and inviting dining experience.

What a magical experience. I’ve been looking for good Thai food in Bellingham and this is the best. Literally everything we ate was delicious, and we tried more than half the menu at one sitting. I went with three other people and, expecting a fourth, ordered five dishes. There was a mixup in the kitchen, not unfortunately, because the chef decided to make us both our order and three additional dishes we didnt order(we were not charged for them). As stated previously, everything was worth having and I will be back with friends to try the rest of the menu! My personal favorite was the chicken avocado curry.
