After eating breakfast here a number of times, I’m moving my review to 5 stars. Consistency and attentive service are the hallmarks of this great little café. Comfort food served very comfortably!

We were brought in by the article written about Brian Dumovich returning to Bellingham to open a restaurant, fulfilling a lifelong dream. I am so glad we came in! We had country fried steak and eggs and the farmers omelette with house hash browns. Portions were generous(we all took some home) and the food was delicious. Service was FABULOUS. Great job Brian and family.

I have never tried this place and its so close to my home. I grew up Idaho and I can simply appreciate family owned diners. The server Julie was great as well.

Soggy, thin wheat French toast? Excuse me… Biscuits and gravy very bland. Won’t be coming back…

Love this place for breakfast. Great prices and good food. The owner always comes out to chat with his customers. Cozy and welcoming on a cold morning!

Food is good but hours are weird. The breakfast I’ve tried have been tasty and the portions are a good size. Have tried to come in for lunch but every time I think of it, it’s closed LOL. Small spot that does get crowded a bit on the weekend as their seating is limited. Omelettes are very very good. Service is usually attentive and fast.

I love this place. So much. The only thing I have to complain about is their limited hours of operation — I wish they were open all day, every day, because the food here is so great! I’ve typically ordered one of the hash brown or omelette meals when I’ve come here, and it’s been delicious each time(and they make it look so pretty, too). And if I order a side of eggs, I typically get them poached(which can be kind of a nuisance for the cook since it takes more effort than just throwing an egg on a frying pan), but they’ve always been good here… I like a restaurant that can poach eggs nicely. :) Friendly servers. Food typically comes quickly. Om nom nom. I’m sad that I’m moving out of state soon, because I’m going to miss this place!

I love eating out for Sunday Breakfast!!! Maybe because I’ve spent so much time in small towns and around old people, I truly love to sit down and look over the menu for the perfect way to stuff my face and not eat again until dinnertime. Often, the ‘Country Fried Steak’ is how I test if a diner is good or not. Rhodes Café(as determined by a thorough analysis of their Country Fried Steak & Eggs) is excellent! At other diners, sometimes I have a hard time finishing steak & eggs & hash-browns & toast & coffee, but here at Rhodes Café I finished every last crumb.(That means it was very tasty, but also means people with bigger appetites than I may be unsatisfied.) The hash-browns were available with grilled onions, and with a modest portion of gravy and 2 eggs over easy on top of a modestly sized fried steak… I was in breakfast heaven. The dining area is cozy, the menu is traditional, the staff is smiley(not smelly) and the kitchen was fast. My family lives closer to Rhodes Café than to downtown, and we typically head downtown for this type of breakfast feast, but now we know Rhodes Café is every bit as good and probably a little bit cheaper than those places.

Owners are awesome and friendly. I agree with another post. Screw the little cheerful. These folks will take a reservation and will’ll gladly accept your credit card. Ideal if you are bringing a large group. The portions aren’t over the top, but you will be full and happy with the experience.

I have been to Rhodes a number of times over the past 15 years and always have a decent but nearly unremarkable experience. Rhodes is a diner. I always get the feeling that they have a consistent and loyal following, though why I am unsure. Everything about the place is ordinary, from the orange formica seating to the menu. The food is good but not spectacular. The servers are good but not memorable. So maybe it is just me(why do I keep coming back… every 5 years)? I guess 5 years is the limit of my memory. Maybe it’s generational? I do notice an older crowd whenever I visit.

My friend and I came here off of a recommendation from his friend that it was an amazing breakfast place. It has a very comforting mom & pop feel and the service was so friendly, which makes it hard to give it such a low rating, but the food needs a lot of improvement. I judge breakfast places by their French Toast. A half order of French Toast with nothing else was $ 6 something. So you’re paying $ 1 per half slice. I can tell you how they made this Toast. They took thinly sliced bread and let it soak too long in egg and heavy cinnamon mixture then threw it on a pan. The result of soaking thin bread in egg too long s that it turns out soggy. So you’re left with a soggy cinnamon explosion. Since the French Toast came with nothing else I ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs which came with hash browns and toast. The crust on the chicken fried steak was thick and you could taste the flour & salt. On the upside I liked the gravy and they cooked my scrambled eggs perfectly. The light at the end of this meal was the hash browns. They tasted freshly cut and the onions they put in were perfectly cooked. They were really super delecious.

I ate there for breakfast and ordered a simple meal. Two eggs over easy, sausage gravy with biscuits and 2 sausage patties. My eggs were way over cooked(like they had been pre-cooked then nuked in a microwave), the gravy was so thin I had to use a spoon, the biscuits were really dense and cold in the middle and my sausage patties were luke warm. I’ve had a better breakfast at McDonold’s…sorry Rhodes.

I love Rhodes Café! I like their Gyros, avgolemeno soup and burgers. The couple that owns it are sweet and friendly. Good place to be a regular customer and to bring your family.

Rhodes is B’hams best kept secret. Screw the Little Cheerful and get good food in 5 minutes at the Rhodes. The staff is so sweet and remembers their regulars. I used to live behind it, but now I am across town and really miss them. Their Hollandaise is amazing, and I hate Hollandaise sauce(they only serve it on Sundays though). I wish they would remodel a little bit and get rid of the hard bench seats, but why change a good thing, ennit? Give them a chance and it will be your new breakfast place.

This was hands down, the best breakfast I have ever had. I had the Greek Omelet with feta and olives and the most delicious crispy, oniony hashbrowns. The place isn’t much to look at and the service is average, but the food is phenomenal. I can’t wait to have a good excuse to drive north again.

I’ve been going to Rhode’s Café since I first moved to Bellingham. It used to be THE place to go for breakfast’s on a Sunday morning but over the years they have significantly increased the prices while decreasing the portions. The service is always great and it’s a cute little place but there is nothing really special to it.

I believe that this place is the only breakfast place in Bellingham that does their hash-browns right(real hash-browns/not frozen). The eggs were cooked perfectly. The prices, quality and quantity were great. The sausage and bacon were okay. I will return here again.

One of my favorite places in bellingham and I don’t even think many people realize it’s here! It’s tucked in the corner next to costcutter and it’s run by a very cute older couple. The service was great, and the food was excellent. It’s one of those places where the people bother to get to know your name and remember you when you come in next time.

One of the top five best breakfasts around these parts. Not good for your cholesterol levels but this will be easily off-set by your improved spirits.

This place is fine for a bite. I had lunch, although they also serve breakfast. The burger was OK, nothing special. The fries were krinkle-cut straight out of a bag and then deep-fried. Price was reasonable. Breakfast looked more expensive than average. Service was not super quick but the girl was nice. They go from 3 stars to 2 because they charge for refills on pop. This is a practice that I find highly disrespectful.
