I come here a lot for lunch and the service is friendly and fast! I love the salsas at the salsa bar. They make their own tortillas and I love just about everything I have tried there– from the tacos, to carnitas, to the hugemungous bowl of fresh chicken soup! The only thing that is left to be desired for me are the beans. They’re kind of boring. Other than that– everything else is great and good prices!

Just under the 49th parallel for a bit of shopping, or passing through B-ham with a hunger on? Stop into Taco Lobo, meet some kind peeps serving up some good ol’ tacos y burritos. I had the carne asada and found it satisfying. One awesome point for hand making their own masa tortillas. They’re a bit thicker and a also tastier than most. I like, you’ll like. Authentic street tacos. Plenty of space so bring your work people too.

The restaurant is always clean and while the people aren’t the most talkative, they are friendly and willing to help. I have only had a few things on the menu but for years I have never gotten tired of their burritos(carne asada, bean and cheese [I recommend extra cheese]), and the chicken nachos. Always hot and getting the burritos a la carte is so filling you still have leftovers.

Crappy service. We were order #29 and we saw a lot of people with order numbers in the 40’s being served before us. We said so to the server, who gave a weak excuse. The Jamaica was bland with no hint of hibiscus. The carnitas were so salty that I needed to wash it down but, oh wait, I had no more drink because I drank it all when I had to wait 20 minutes for two tacos. Bummer. I had high hopes as a first-time patron.

I love their chile relleno here but for some reason it was not as good and was a bit tasteless. Also, the salsas tasted watered down. Bad day to go or different cook? I don’t know. I hope this was just a fluke visit.

I’ve never had my favorite chili rellano in a bowl with some kind of delicious broth over it, but if we lived here, this would be our new favorite! And the rice… Perfectly cooked but with a hint of smoke… I loved what I could eat after finishing the chili rellano, and my husband will enjoy it as his bedtime snack. His burrito was huge! So glad we got it a la carte. The salsa bar was fun, but we have to return and try a couple different salsas, because mixing them was fun… Great idea!

«Taco Lobo» 117 w Magnolia St. Bellingham, Wash. Rustic Mexican cantina style vibe. Clean tables and floor. Love the neon marquee outside! Freshly made sauces… meaty grilled Tilapia, juicy shredded chicken, classic earthy tortillas and an open self serve condiments bar. The meaty refried beans were the best ever. I really love the variety of fresh sauces, particularily the green sauces. Concerns: little or no presence of ooey gooey cheese and the Guacamole was way too runny and diluted with what tasted like chicken stock to me. ‘appy noshin’ brianm ur foodieatlarge

My favorite for Mexican in Bellingham. Always tastes good and leaves me full and happy. I love the salsa bar options and the specials are fun sometimes like the chicken en mole(best i’ve had since a place near San Jose, CA). The corn quesadillas are so good and kids always love them. I love the casual atmosphere.

Being from Texas, we are always afraid to try any Mexican restaurants north of Dallas. The same can certainly be said since moving to the Pacific Northwest. However, because we love Mexican food, we never give up. A friend suggested we try Taco Lobo, based on review she’d read online. I was a little disappointed that you ordered at the counter, but the menu was large with lots to choose from. The prices were a bit high, though, especially when compared to the south. I ordered the Carnitas burrito which came with rice and beans. The burrito was huge and could certainly have been shared by two people. Unfortunately, the pork was a bit tough and stringy, although tasty. The refried beans had a nice flavor but the rice was a bit bland. They have a decent selection of beer choices and their margaritas looked great! We will certainly be returning to try more of the menu. The salsa bar had a lot to choose from, but even their hottest salsa was not very hot.

Still probably the best Mexican sit down restaurant in Bellingham, but seems to have gone downhill a bit. The salsas I had last night just seemed to lack the flavor and freshness they usually have and my flautas were a bit tasteless. Hoping it was just a one off.

Review Update: Viva Taco Lobo! I don’t know what was going on the first time I came here, but I’ve been a few times since to get the 3 taco plate and it’s very tasty – barbacoa is my favorite. Taco Lobo is also a good place to come with a group of people: the dining room is surprisingly large. They also have soccer games on the TVs around the dining room. Annnd they have bottles of Dos Equis amber and other Mexican beers to enjoy with your tacos. All of this adds up to a very good Mexican restaurant.

Taco Lobo, in my opinion has the best fish tacos in Bellingham. The salsa bar lets you decide what salsas you want on your food. The fresh made tortillas are an improvement over those off the shelf tortillas, a bit improvement. Keep in mind that this is the«Counter style» mexican food experience. You order at the counter like fast food, but the bring the food to your table. You get a basket of chips with your order, at lunch this is plenty, but if you are having dinner, maybe some margaritas, you might need to purchase another basket of chips.

I eat here regularly and mostly get the most excellent chili rellenos with fresh, moist corn tortillas! My fav drink is the fruity Tamarindo. Try it — you’ll like it. The prices are good and the staff are friendly. Salsa bar is also a very cool and tasty feature of this unique place.

I am visiting Bellingham for the week and was very disappointed with the quality of the food here. My boyfriend and I both ordered fish tacos and by the time we received our food the tacos, rice, and beans were all cold. Nothing had flavor, everything was bland. And the spicy sauce is not actually spicy at all. Do not recommend this place.

Very clean restaurant, friendly staff that answered questions we had about the menu. The salsa bar is amazing! Fresh salsa made daily and in different flavors and heat. You order at the counter but they bring the food to your table. Good variety of meats to chose from for your entrée. The chips are made fresh right here too and are very yummy! The burritos are huge and the nachos are plentiful. Everything tastes very authentic.

I absolutely love this place. Everything is made fresh even the tortillas which are made from scratch. The service is awesome and the food tastes great. Love it!

Service was fine. Salsas were fine. The tacos were terrible. Couldnt be less authentic. Thick small flour like tortillas, meat was soggy and soft, and it was covered in cabbage. Not what I was expecting. Oh yeah and their guacamole was literally bright green liquid. Never seen anything like it. Idk how it could be called gaucamole.

How I heard of this place: This establishment has been in Bellingham for about as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until a good friend of mine moved to Bellingham to work at the Attorney General’s office that I had the opportunity to sample its fare. Type of cuisine: «Made-from-scratch sauces, tamales and tortillas(watch them being rolled out in the kitchen), surrounded by lively art and big picture window views that look out into the heart of downtown makes the Taco Lobo a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. The spicy chicken in the pollo asado is a winner with diners, as is the tasty salsa bar, full of homemade salsa combinations. The food is always fresh, the atmosphere always fun. Come down and enjoy an authentic taste of Mexico! Taco Lobo is now proud to serve Kangen Water! We are proud to be the first restaurant in Bellingham to have our own machine installed and available to our clientele. Come in and enjoy our Salsa bar! A variety of fresh ingredients, flavors and spices free with any lunch or dinner purchase. Thirsty? Taco Lobo has expanded our bar to include a variety of mixed drinks, beer and signature cocktails. Be sure and check out our menu for what’s new! Don’t forget to grab a basket of hot, crunchy tortilla chips while you wait for your order to arrive. Made fresh daily, you can pair them with one of our salsas, a dollop of fresh guacamole, or enjoy them just as they are! Complimentary when you order any lunch or dinner item.» Ambiance: «Taco Lobo opened its doors on April 13, 1999 in historic downtown Bellingham. Luis Santos, owner, transformed the former clothing and tanning salons into a vibrant, fun, colorful atmosphere, brimming with authentic art, lively music and festive décor. „It’s more like mama’s cooking“, says Santos, who reveals that the Chicken Taco is among his favorite dishes. The tortillas are made on the premises, and Santos and the entire Lobo staff prepare all of the salsas for the Salsa Bar daily. Luis Santos is formerly from Jalisco, Mexico and has lived on and off in Bellingham since 1990. A commercial fishing accident forced him out of the fishing industry, but he turned the negative situation into a positive one, investing money into his first restaurant. While Luis was nervous for the first few weeks, both he and the staff settled right into the local community. Come in and see for yourself why Taco Lobo was voted best Mexican restaurant 5 years in a row!» What I ordered: Our long-time, good friend was meeting my husband and I for lunch and offered us a handful of suggestions of his all-time favorites at Taco Lobo. He was in the mood for the Burrito al Pastor($ 6.95), a burrito of pork with pineapple served a la carte. My husband selected the number four: Enchilada($ 8.95) with chicken, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and tomato, served alongside rice, beans and tortilla chips. Knowing that we would be sharing the chips & salsa, I opted for two tacos a la carte($ 2.50 each): the Pollo Verde(chicken in green sauce) and Pollo Asado(grilled chicken). We also enjoyed two large glasses of Horchata, a rice drink with cinnamon($ 1.75 each). What I loved: Pollo Verde! Why I loved it: A colorful space bright with vibrant paint and joyful energy, serving simple, yet delicious food quickly and with homemade flavor. Cost: Low to average($ 5.95 — $ 9.95 per lunch item)

Way over priced but really yummy carne asada burrito. Their salsa bar is fantastic! Don’t understand why beans n rice come on the side of a burrito, though…

One of my Bellingham fav’s for Mexican. Great for lunch or dinner, I typically always order the same thing — because I don’t like change? or because I love their carnita’s? Staff are friendly and this popular place is very popular with locals and visitors.
