Sharkey’s Hair It Is

I miss Sharkey’s! I tried another kid’s salon near me and it’s not nearly as good.
Does anyone know where the stylist went? I would love to track them down. I know Sandy was one, can’t recall the name of another gal I used. Thanks.

I’ve been here for a men’s adult haircut a few times, and we’ve brought our daughter here for a few haircuts (she’s 3). I received a couple of «decent» haircuts, but each time I’d go home and have to touch it up on my own. The last time I got my own hair cut here, it was a wreck. I couldn’t even fix it with a touch-​up. It’s not like a men’s haircut is that hard, either!
What really made me angry is how they could screw up a 3yo bang trim when she loves getting her hair cut and doesn’t move at all. The bangs were all crooked and then they had to cut them super short in order to straighten it out. It still looks crooked and it’ll take months to grow back in because it’s so short. This happened TWICE. Our fault for not warning our babysitter to not go to Sharkey’s, so she didn’t know any better. It’s a cute place for kids with entertainment, but I’d highly recommend other children’s hair cut establishments over this one.

Good price, less than what we pay elsewhere, but I didn’t love the «service». The woman cutting my son’s hair barely spoke to him and when she spoke to me she was kind of rude. She wanted me to tell her specifics on how I wanted his hair cut, which in the 3 years we’ve been going to our regular place I’ve never had to do. She seemed frustrated that I didn’t know the correct terminology for cutting boy’s/ men’s hair. Not going back there again.

I first found out about this place through my job. I did a walk in and met Mika (Mee-​ka). She was very nice and explained everything to me, step by step and really listened to what I had to say. She always confirmed everything with me before cutting and I really liked that. Some beauticians just cut and when you tell
only take a certain amount off they say yes then do what they think is best. Even so, sometimes what you hey think is best isn’t what the customer wanted. I can’t tell you how many times that has happened to me and it’s so aggravating. Anyway, I went back and took in my two kids to get a hair cut (ages 7 and 20 months). My twenty month old was getting her first haircut and my son a «comb over» (preppy boy look seems to be in this time of year, lol). I was so nervous for my daughter because she was born a bald one (Lol) and slllooowly but surely her hair has been growing in… although majority is just on the top of her head, right in the middle (like a natural Mohawk). I told Mika that I only wanted her to just clean it up because her hair was looking kind of crazy and she did exactly that. I was so excited and happy about my kids’s haircuts especially my daughter because it was her first one. We did the first haircut pkg and am so excited that we have it pictured and a certificate. I love this place not only because of the great customer service and friendly and professional staff but the whole experience. My son told me on the way home that he doesn’t want to go to his Barber anymore and that he only wants Mika to cut his hair. I couldn’t argue, lol. Thanks Mika!

Whoever answered the phone to take appointments is R U D E. This is not the first time this has happened. I let it go the first few times because I absolutely love Karen (our stylist) but I’m so sick of having to deal with majorly cranky attitudes when booking appointments. Done with this place.
Karen — let me know when you’ve moved on to another salon, and we’d be happy to return to you.

My daughter and I had appointments for haircuts and a color consultation. I was informed when I got there that Karen Salvador, who we had the appointment with was running a little late. I thought ok, 10 – 15 minutes tops, she must be wrapping up. Forty-​five minutes later, and she was still working on her previous client; curling and styling her hair. She’s the Assistant Manager and was well aware we were waiting and she didn’t seem to have any sense of urgency or care in the world. You’d think she’d have someone else finish the styling and she would move on to her next appointment. She never came up to us to apologize, as if we weren’t there. After 45 minutes, we walked out and made an appointment elsewhere. We’re never coming back.

Big fan over here. Simple haircuts with squirmy kids. Sure, they’re not runway perfect, but who cares? Love this place, we’ll be back!

They are set up really cute for young kids. They get to sit in their choice of vehicle for their haircut, choose a movie. Girls get a barette to take home and they do a quick coat of nailpolish as well. At the end all kids get a tatoo and lollipop. All for approx. $ 20. I think it’s well worth it!

Had a great experience with Sandy. It was my 3 year old’s first haircut. She was patient and fantastic with kids. My daughter sat in the Barbie Jeep and watched Frozen during her haircut. We will be back!

We decided to give this place another try with a different stylist and are pleased with the outcome.

I would give a 0 if I could. A few days ago I made an appointment for my daughter to get a wash, blow dry and trim for today. During the initial call I asked if they could do African American hair and was told yes. After leaving work early and on my way to pick my daughter up from afterschool, I received a call from this salon. She asked if I only wanted a trim for my daughter. I explained to her what I made the appointment for. The Sharkey’s representative then says, «Oh she can’t do African American hair can you come another day? The girl that booked your appointment never asked the stylist what type of hair she can do.» Now this was 20 minutes before my appointment and extremely unprofessional. Now I’m stuck with disappointing my daughter about her trip to the hair salon.

I went in to Sharkey’s today not really knowing what I wanted, only that I wanted something different. I came out looking and feeling amazing with my new color, courtesy of Erica C. Thanks Erica, I love it!

RUDE RUDE RUDE, came in for a haircut for my son, three ladies standing around and said that the next appointment was not until an hour later, yet there was no one at the salon. I mentioned that to them and they said they were just «waiting» for clients with appointments“
So not professional at all. All they were doing was just drinking their Starbucks.

We love sharkeys! It’s a fabulous glamour time for the girls and even exciting for the boys who can sit and play Xbox while getting their hair cut and styled.

My boyfriend & I came in on a saturday morning (around 11:15 am) to only one client! Perfect, since I can’t stand waiting. We had Karen for a Men’s haircut & she did a fantastic job! Took a while, seeing as he has very thick, long black hair. She was patient, talkative (not in that cheesy hair dresser way) and very easy going! We’ve been looking for a good salon that’s not too expensive but of great quality & we totally found that here! Parking is easy and the salon itself is modern and quite beautiful inside. I’ll forsure be coming back!

Always satisfied when I leave! My daughter and I love this place. The stylist’s are so nice and attentive. Erica C. did a fantastic job taking care if us today! She really made my daughter and I feel special.

FANTASTIC!!! I went in with a really choppy hair cut and LINDA saved me! She is such a sweet heart and she took me in right away and totally revitalized my hair! I was soooooo ecstatic about how my hair looked (I posted the picture as well). I felt like I was a star in a fancy hair commercial with my hair full of life, volume and texture! I never thought my hair could achieve the look that it does but Linda is fantastic and such a warm hearted woman. Love her and definitely coming back!!!

We attended a birthday party here.
My daughter really enjoyed it and had so much fun. Their staff set up a table with fun activities, there were two stylists that were doing the girls hair, one person was doing make-​up and another was painting their nails.
The staff need to be more organized but overall this is a good place for special celebration.
