Place your order at the counter and they’ll have it out to you quickly. Shop the used books while you wait(or even better, the incredible variety of jams, pickles, and hot sauces) or just people-watch. Bushel and Peck’s draws a diverse crowd. They’re always friendly and the food’s always good. My favorite here is the beet salad, but I don’t think you can go wrong. This is a great place to sit and get work done with a cup of tea or coffee, too.

Sitting here on a Sunday morning having the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs on top. This is awesome!!! The atmosphere here is great, the staff is awesome, and the food is worth the visit.

We love Bushel & Peck’s. It is one of our go to places. It’s a mini grocery store selling local foods and beverages, restaurant, coffee shop and used bookstore all rolled into one. Great atmosphere, friendly employees, and tasty food — what else do you need? We have liked pretty much everything we’ve gotten here. Some of our favorites include the fried cheese curds, mushroom grilled cheese, beer battered perch sandwich, banana bread French toast, and eggs benedict. I will say that in our experience the breakfast sausage and pot roast soup are a bit under-seasoned, but other than, that everything has been delicious. Our five year old niece is a pretty picky eater and even she thoroughly enjoyed her grilled cheese sandwich with«square fries»(aka the breakfast potatoes). The grocery items are a bit pricey but worth every penny(farm fresh eggs, bacon, cheese curds!). And of course, you can pick up your New Glarus beer fix there too.

Kale wad Awesome as a side dish i could have had it as a meal. I had the beet salad and chicken club. beet salad had dressing light and perfectly paired with the blue cheese. Chicken club above average. Highly recommend

Great selection, great concept. Just make sure that your skinny jeans are wrinkled just right and your painters hat or fedora has just the right level of wear. Don’t bother with your Nikes, go ahead and buy the fair-trade sources mocs to go with your pulled up socks and shorts. Seriously though — this place is very cool, the problem seems to be that the clientele wants to make damn sure it stays that way. The food is to die for, the beer/wine/cider selections are amazing. If only I didn’t feel as if a «uniform» was required to eat or shop here.

Quite a unique place, eclectic as one mite expect in a college town. Great food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere… And did I mention great food! Books, wine, beer and comfy chairs to take it all in. A great place.

Loved the portobello sandwich and meatloaf sandwiches. Standard but tasty. More remarkable were our sides of sautéed kale & split pea soup. I washed mine down with some local kombucha and we shared candied ginger found in their grocery section. Local, well done, and chill. This is a restaurant, bookstore, grocery store created by a pickling fanatic. We bought some of the delightful spicy dills to take home.

If you are in Beloit, I would definitely stop in here for lunch or to pick up some tasty beer, snacks and pickled goods. I am from SF and it definitely has a cool and hip vibe. We’ve been there twice and both times it was very tasty. My only complaint is I would like the Powerhouse salad to be more tossed and bite sized pieces or on a bigger plate or bowl. It was beautiful and tasty with hard boiled eggs, garbanzo beans, gorgeous tomatoes, corn and chicken. The chicken pieces were big and the plate was overflowing, so it was hard to toss. My son and I spilled a lot off our plates. An easy fix so not deducting stars for that. The grilled cheese and wheat was tasty as well as the kale and bean soup. The food is clean and light. Being from San Francisco, the prices seemed very fair for such quality ingredients. The service was top notch both times I was there, even though they were slammed with college move in. They helped me picked local beers according to my tastes and the lovely girl at the counter had to deal with college parents coming in at the end of move in day and the kitchen was closed. The parents were already emotional and not very happy. She kept her calm and tried to accommodate as much as possible with recommendations to other restaurants. You won’t be disappointed. Pop by Bushel and Peck’s for healthy, tasty food and a great environment.

Love that place! Great sandwiches and platters, great provisions to stock on and take back home. Huge props to their jam selection, I rave about the rhubarb/strawberry one. Great atmosphere, cool space, friendly staff. It’s a must-stop when in Beloit!

Love this Beloit gem! This place is foodie paradise! Tons of pickled veggies, local craft brews(including New Glarus small batch 4-packs &0.75 liters!), honey, coffees, teas, etc. Such a cute space with plenty of inviting seating to sit down and stay for awhile. There are more comfortable seating areas(couches and chairs) for curling up with a good book or conversation, a few tables outside when the weather is nice, and some tables that are great for getting some work done on your laptop. The staff is extremely friendly and they offer a variety of coffees, teas, and food selections. I love how many side choices there are and how many veggie-friendly options they have. Great local find!

Be sure to stop here if you are touring Beloit College. Get a feel for ‘city’ life ;) It’s a great mix of delicious food, groceries and a book store. All with really nice service(It’s Wisconsin of course!) Nice place to hang out — daily specials were delicious(as were the cinnamon rolls!). Local live music most nights too.

I’ve been here about three times now for various reasons. Once for a work function where there were a lot of people, and you could tell it stressed the kitchen out because it took awhile for the food to arrive. So I wouldn’t use this place for large parties. However, the other times I’ve gone with a friend the service was quick and the food was amazing. They know how to put a unique spin on all of their dishes. You could think of the traditional sandwich or side and then when you get your plate, it has the same components, but it’s served in a non traditional way. But it’s so yummy! Since it’s organic, it is a bit pricier, but I believe it’s worth it.

What I really love about Bushel & Peck’s is that it exists. I spent a long weekend visiting a college student and had a fair amount of downtime. I found myself at B&P’s twice for coffee and wifi followed by a meal. The comfy couch by the pellet stove works great for this purpose. I watched lots of people come and go; on Sunday, it was packed. Bushel & Peck’s contains multitudes. You can buy a sandwich, a piece of cheesecake, local beer, local cheese, local baked goods, really amazing pickles, homemade jam and used books. You can even get a line on a locally produced pellet stove just like the one that’s toasting your toes. They’re in the former Woolworth building in downtown Beloit, which gets a little livelier every time I visit.

Awesome selection of pickled veggies, cheeses, and other foodie foods. After we shopped, had one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had. Friendly service too! We’ll be back for lunch soon, definitely worth the drive from Rockford!

I have never had a bad experience at Bushel & Peck’s! Just a quick jaunt down from the college, it’s my go-to spot on a bad day when all I want is some good, clean food and a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. It’s a fantastic place to grab a quick bite or settle in for a couple of hours of writing/studying/complaining to a friend. On Thursday nights, B&P’s hosts trivia at 7:30. A lot of the community and college students come out and it’s great for catching up with others or people watching. Suddenly, my undergrad degree has become relevant. I think they’ve recently hit a sweet spot of balance between the café and grocery areas. I love that they’ve started selling their handmade pickled items and hot sauces in the store. Mom gets a jar of pickled beets every time she visits. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve eaten here — the beet salad is my go-to but I’ve had a number of their sandwiches and soups too. The fries are skinny and often crunchy(which is the way I like them) and perfect with the beet ketchup they’ve started putting on all the tables. The sautéed kale as a side is amazing as well. My only complaint is that sometimes(and not regularly) the meat in the hamburger tastes a little old — like it’s been frozen for a bit too long. It’s not often, but it is off-putting. B&P’s really is a community hub that offers delicious organic and local food, beverages, grocery items, and a place to chill for a while. I miss it now that I’ve graduated and left Beloit. I’ll certainly be back the next time I’m in the area.

We have been to B&P on multiple occasions and have to say the overall experience is A-OK. They do have a small grocery store within the restaurant offering a variety of fresh meats, cheese, beer, and wine. They also have some other items that are organic/ethnic that would otherwise be difficult to find in Beloit. As far as ambiance, they place is very much a lounge atmosphere with lazy chairs and cozy sofas. They have a fireplace that is nice to sit by in the winter. They are a great spot for lunch. They have a variety of organic and grass fed burgers and wraps that are all good. They also have some very hearty vegetarian Chile which is the best I have ever tried. They also have some dessert bars and cookies that they keep on hand. They also have a large variety of coffee’s and teas that are fresh brewed. Overall a nice place to grab lunch or coffee. They are also pretty packed on the weekends because they do a mean omelette and other breakfast/brunch items like french toast and pankakes.

This place is a cross between a Starbucks, library, and a whole foods. I like all three of these things, but not together like at this place. It seemed a little pretentious. The prices are pretty high, but I suppose that is to be expected in a place that is artisan-like. The employees seemed nice, though no one bothered to greet us when we walked in. This place had quite a few patrons, but it’s just not my cup of tea.

Seriously. In the middle of downtown rustbelt, still struggling against urban decay, Beloit, I have no earthly idea, but I’m ecstatic that it is. All of their offerings are local, seasonal, and artisanal. All of their veggies come from their own darn farm. I had their version of a club sandwich with some of the best bacon I’ve eaten in, well, probably, ever. Tomatoes and lettuce were so fresh they’d likely been picked that morning. I ordered the pickled beets as a side and they were so sweet and delicious with allspice and cinnamon notes that it could have been dessert. As I was with the wife, the boy, and the nephew, they too ate. Wife had the special o’ the day which was fishcakes with their home made sauce and dang, if those things weren’t savory and tasty out the wazoo. Boy had their grilled cheese made from local organic dairy producers on whole grain bread to which he gave two thumbs up. Nephew had their burger and fries and their fries were PERFECT: Thin cut, crispitty crunchetty slices of potato. They also, apparently, have a full bar and HUGE selection of local beers and sodas. You can buy all of their various pickled products as the place doubles as a grocery store. Atmosphere is very cool and hip, i.e., large old store cleared to rafters with big wooden tables and Scandinavian-modern type chairs. I supposed it could be noisy, but I dug it. I like this place so much I’m looking for an excuse to go back.

This place is great! Locally owned Market/Café/Coffee shop! They have great food, both meaty and vegan! The vegan chili is fantastic and I have it the last two times I have been in town! It’s a super large space with Free Wi-Fi so it’s a nice place to hang! They also have a bottomless cup of coffee for 2.50! Not to shabby! I got a chance to meet the owner and he grows all the meat, and veggies they sell there! They also do lots of spices and canned goods! They work the Farmers Markets in the area! He was super nice and asked us to stay for the weekly Trivia they do there! They also have beer and wine so hey! It’s an all around goodies stop!
