We stopped into this place to try it out and have a few drinks. We were immediately greeted by a friendly inviting bartender named Chelsie. We sat down orderd a few nice cold beers. Some micro-brews on tap from a local brewery New Glarus. They did have a variety of beers in bottles as well. Not a huge selection, but plenty enough to get the party started. We had a chance to get in on some conversations with some friendly locals. Very inviting place, clean, friendly atmosphere, Irish pub style place, family owned and operated. We orderd some of thier homemade soups as an appitizer and we were not disappointed. My wife and I had thier cheeseburger and beer cheese soups. Bartender made us feel at home and would be the reason I say you should stop here. In downtown Beloit there are plenty of places to go… but this place is just that laid back chill kind of bar. We will be back k next time we pass through town.

A nice looking classic downtown bar. Unfortunately service sucked

I stop in for Irish dinner. They were out of reubens in prepping for Irish day. Staff recommended french dip. The sandwich was robust for what cost. The sandwhich is a recommend. There is one person and a cook tending the whole bar. People had to come up to the bar. Staff setup with high expectations on keeping up with the demand. I would recommend checking out.

Coming from a community with a wide and varied nightlife scene, I really wanted to like Sud’s. We’ve visited twice and unless the service improves I don’t think I’ll give them a third shot. On our first visit we waited about ten minutes before we were acknowledged by the staff, then it was several minutes more before we could order. We didn’t find anything too appealing on their one-page food menu, but decided to take a chance and try the nachos. The weren’t half bad. The drinks were good too, and since we went during happy hour they weren’t too expensive. We both ordered from the New Glarus selection and were surprised and pleased when the the bottles were served in a bucket of ice. However, we cut our trip short when we discovered that unlike our native Illinois, people could still smoke in bars in Wisconsin. We returned recently(after Wisconsin passed it’s own smoking ban), and we felt we were met with knowing, disapproving stares from the other customers. We waited at a table for about ten minutes without being noticed. We left and ate somewhere else. I really liked the oak walls and booths, and the happy hour prices were good. But the lack of a better food menu combined with poor service makes it hard for me to recommend this place.

They have shuffleboard and pool which might be the greatest highlight to this establishment. Oh, they also have peanuts available for free in the old wooden keg that has already been mentioned by the other reviewers. The drinks are not particularly cheap or made that well. Most of the bar staff would rather be doing other things, they tell you this while your there. The jukebox is also a highlight i suppose since you can choose your anthem to the money your about to waste on that over priced drink. I have never eaten here so I leave that part of the review up to a much braver soul. I may return if there’s a cash prize involved.

Any old-ass bartender who responds«No Bombs! No Shots! Just beer, goddam it!» to a perfectly respectable request for another round of jaegerbombs, sir, is not my kind of man. That, and I resent the fact that they are such sticklers about the end of happy hour that I wasted way too many of my hard-earned work-study dollars on that last, too-expensive round of beers for the whole table because the bartender couldn’t be troubled to make it over to me by 6. Two stars for the delicious«Kickass» mustard they have behind the counter for dipping the free peanuts in and for not being the BOP.

do yourself a favor, order a black and blue, put some seger on the jukebox and pretend both of them(and suds) are good.
